What happens when a new life appears? The first thing that happens, is ignorance. New life doesn't know anything yet. And so, ignorance goes hand in hand with life.
But what happens when a new life replaces the old life?
Will a new life be able to take root on the planet? Or will the old life always remind you of its existence?
My question is, will the person change completely? Will a person be able to completely surrender to change without reminding himself of his past? Will a person be able to start living anew?
I've been thinking about this for hours. And every day I was a little scared that everything changes so much.
And when Luca entered the house, ignoring Leon's dissatisfied words, I looked at him with horror.
"Professor what's wrong with you? It's like you're scared of something."
"What happened?" I asked.
Luca sat down on the sofa and squeezed my hand. "Everything is just perfect professor. Don't worry about it. And besides, I'm very good at helping you. If it wasn't for my foundation, your idea would hardly have worked."
He handed me a folder full of papers. "Here, you have to read this."
"What's this?"
"It's gratitude."
I opened the folder and my attention fell on the letter which said how one woman overcame her fear and now lives the life she always dreamed of.
There was a lot of stories here, and in every story, I found another happy person.
"You see, professor. Everyone loves you. You helped them. And now, I'm helping them, too."
Leon was still working on his book. But still, he said, "You opened a fund, there's probably a catch."
"What are you doing?! You still don't believe me? Of course not! I just want to help people," Luca said, and I heard a kind of pretense in his voice.
Throwing his robe aside, Leon lay down on the couch and began to read people's stories.
In the time we've been living together, he's become more introverted than ever before. And I started to worry that he was uncomfortable because of my presence.
Putting his feet on my lap, he suddenly laughed.
"What's so funny brother?"
"Nothing."
"Yes! I almost forgot. Professor, someone wants to meet you."
"Who?"
"One very interesting woman."
"And who is she?" Leon asked, covering his face with his hand.
"You need to sleep. You look like you haven't slept in days," Luca said, and pushed him slightly. "Professor, she's probably already waiting for us."
"Right now?"
«Well, yes. Anyway, you have nothing to do today."
"Why are you even here? Why did you come?"
"I know you're glad to see me."
I looked at my watch. It was evening and looking at the gentle sun rays, I still wanted to walk.
Wearing a green shirt, and black trousers, I decided not to take anything else.
"Come on," I said and when I wanted to leave, Leon stopped me.
After quickly changing his clothes, he left the house and sat silently in the car.
"So, you're jealous. About a woman!"
"When are you going to leave?" Leon asked.
"When it's all over."
"Do you think this is going to end?"
"Well, yes. Nothing lasts forever," Luca replied.
Winter, abruptly gave way to a warm spring. For the first time in my life, I liked spring.
When I opened the window, I enjoyed the warm wind. And the quiet music created everything even cozier.
What would I do if I hadn't met Leon and published the book?
I'd probably sit at the station and watch people.
Is there really no person who is like an island?
But the answer to this question did not frighten me.
Luca stopped in front of a luxurious restaurant and stretched out his sunglasses, said, "Here, take this. We don't want to be recognized."
Leon silently got out of the car and entered the restaurant.
In the restaurant, I noticed a young woman. She was drinking coffee or tea. And I noticed that she was very unusual person.
Luca came up to her and she smiled happily at him, but when she turned in my direction, she immediately became serious.
She had very long hair which was gathered in one ponytail. She was wearing a red leather jacket and dark grey jeans. She was graceful and tidy.
Especially, I liked her look which was filled with surprise and confidence.
"Let me introduce, Ms. Eva," Luca solemnly said.
"It's nice to finally meet you," she said.
"Nice to meet you too."
Looking at Leon, she said nothing.
"It's an honor to meet you. I really like your book," she added.
Soon a waiter came up to us, but I did not want to eat at all.
"And so, Eva, you can begin. The professor doesn't like to talk. So, you can safely move on to the most important thing."
Eva looked at me. Her dark eyes, which seemed to change color, were able to read my thoughts. I felt it.
"Professor, what do you dream of?" she suddenly asked.
"A dream?" I replied, and for the first time in my life I realized how difficult this question is.
"Can I ask what your dream is?"
"In general, all my dreams have been fulfilled a long time ago. And now I am quite happy with everything that is happening in my life. Or maybe I've always been happy with my life. Maybe I never dreamed of anything."
"Is that possible? Never to dream?"
"Our Professor is a real mystery," Luca said.
He was wrong. The real mystery was sitting next to me. And this mystery had golden hair and dark green eyes.
"But what's happening now was your dream, your goal," Eva continued.
"No, I wrote this book purely for my own sake."
"So, you're selfish."
"Being selfish means being king and at the same time a slave to your own imagination," Leon said looking at me.
And what I've noticed is that wherever we were, he always looked at me like there was no one else around.
"What do you want Miss Eva?" I asked hoping that she would no longer utter the word Professor and my name so loudly.
"Yes. You know what's going on in the world, don't you?"
"Of course."
"And what? Are you going to do nothing, just sit and watch?"
"What am I supposed to do? People dream, live, I don't have to do anything anymore."
"You wrote a book, you changed everyone's life. So why are you hiding at home instead of continuing to develop, talk, support everyone?" she asked.
"Believe me, I shouldn't do that. I'm just a writer."
"You don't have to be that way. You're responsible for what's going on right now."
"I don't think you should be saying what to do to him," Leon said and stood up.
She looked at me, but I didn't have any more words for her.
This meeting was strange and short.
But for some reason, I thought I was going to meet her again.
After she left, Luca sat down and ate his sandwich, said, "She's an unusual woman. She is like lightning. But I like it."
"Perhaps you can sit alone here?"
The evening was still going on.
We were going straight forward. We walked along the busiest street. There were shops, ice cream kiosks and newspapers around.
The sun's rays still covered the roofs of the houses.
People, headlong, rushed past us. The road itself seemed to be their goal. They were moving forward. They didn't see each other. But they only saw themselves.
Any thinker would see the end in all this or the beginning of something new.
But the people themselves saw in all this a new form of existence.
Looking at all these people who were passing me, I realized how hard it is when you have something to regret.
Unfulfilled dream as a burden on the soul, all life will put the pressure on the conscience. And all feelings will be empty, and all hopes are bitter.
These people were rushing forward, because they had accumulated that very burden. And now they had two things left. The first was to stop. But it would lead to the loss of the soul and ego. And the second was to never stop. Go ahead and carry a heavy load until there is an opportunity. By nature, human chooses the second path.
But on this second way, a person blames everyone for everything that happened to him or to her in his, her life.
Leon, suddenly interrupted me in the middle of my thinking.
"Skye, let's sit for a while."
Stopping in front of rows of houses, I said, "You must be tired of walking with me everywhere. You could stay home and keep writing."
"I've already finished working on the book."
"That is good. Nothing compares to this feeling, when you finished a whole book."
He leaned on the back of the wooden bench and looked forward.
"Such a quiet and pleasant day," I said.
"Happiness lies in the calmness," Leon suddenly said.
"I don't believe you're saying that."
"Professor, just look at all these people. Now, no one is working. And with my brother's fund, everyone seems to have forgotten what it's like to work."
Then looking at me, he suddenly asked, "So what is your dream professor?"
"Right now, I want to understand something. But I won't tell you what it is," I said and smiled.
"I think you just want to understand people. What is the secret of human? That's what worries you."
"And that's probably true, too."
"You know, people are always trying to fill the void. They somehow create this void, and they want to fill it. Some people want to fill it all their lives. To avoid emptiness, they use money, they fall in love, they conflict. And the cause of all the evil in this world, because they want so much to be not empty. But really, they're just afraid of losing their self, they're afraid to merge with the crowd. I think it's sad."
"Do you think that is the secret of human?"
"It's always been like that," he replied, and sighed.
I liked the way he thought. And I liked the way we could easily move from one topic to another.
Filling the void in the soul, in the heart, all this, perhaps, was the most basic problem of human.
"But no one can ever fill the void in the heart. Greed, ungratefulness, anger, hatred, all this always pulls a person back. And that's sad, too."
"But this time, they're slowly changing," I said, and we plunged into a cozy silence.
