Silence invades the room as we stare dangerously at each other. Elora's smile has faded away and she seems to be plotting something in her mind.
I frown. I should have known that she would never keep to her promise. She was angry when I called her my crazy girlfriend the last time. Maybe she is trying to get back at me using Hannah.
"Aren't you on your way to call Ariana?" she asks after a few minutes of silence but I ignore her. Her face has lightened up with a smile. "I am talking to you aren't you on your way to call Ariana?"
Is she asking me that? I frown. I was supposed to be on my way to call Ariana until you spoiled everything!
I move closer to her and whisper. "What are you doing here? We made an agreement that you stay upstairs until Hannah leaves". She ignores me and I sigh. "You should get back upstairs while you can"
"I am doing no such thing" she disagrees. "You can't make me do that"
"Are you going to break the deal we have now?"
"I am not breaking any deal"
"I think you are"
"I am not sure about that"
I furrow my brows. "You are not sure about that, you mean?"
She shrugs. "Of course. I can't agree less"
"You had better agree less because you did"
"I would not say that"
I frown. "Have you forgotten you promised to stay away from the living room and..."
"I never did that. I only asked you to make sure she doesn't cross my path. And if she doesn't, I won't mind her" she retorts.
"But you are the one crossing her path"
She hisses. "You can think whatever you want. I do not care!"
She walks past me, whistling.
"Elora" I coo.
She ignores me. "I should get a seat". She mutters, walking closer to Hannah. "Can I sit beside you?"
"Sure" Hannah mutters and I snarl.
Why does she have to come down at a time like this? What is her plan?
"I will get Ariana" I mutter to no one, heading upstairs.
I knock on Ariana's door, waiting patiently for her reply. She opens the door, giving me a beautiful smile.
"I guess food is ready" she mutters and I nod.
"Yes, it is and we are all waiting for you downstairs"
"We should get going. I should not keep everyone waiting. Have you taken Elora's food to her room?"
I scoff. "That won't be necessary"
"What do you mean?"
"Elora is downstairs with Hannah"
"Y-you are joking right?"
"I wish I was but I am not"
"Did you both not agree that she stays away?"
"We did but Elora is breaking the rules"
"And she did not say why she suddenly showed up?"
"No"
Ariana groans. "This is not good. Elora must have a reason to be downstairs and if she is not saying it. It's a bad sign"
I nod. It's obvious it's a bad sign already. Elora does not have a good side. Not anyone I know.
"I also know that and that is the reason I need your help" I reply and she sighs.
"I will try my best but right now, we need to join them at the dining table before Elora blabs what she is not supposed to say"
We quickly left for the dining together and just like Ariana predicted, Elora was already blabbering and Hannah seemed very interested in whatever Elora was saying.
I stare at Ariana who stares at me too.
"What do you think they are talking about?" Ariana whispers.
"I can't say"
This is so unlike Elora. She looks too calm and composed.
She must have something up her sleeves. I thought.
"Do you think she might be telling Hannah about me?"
"Are you worried she might be?"
"I am not worried"
"You seem to be"
I sigh. Maybe I am.
"I hope she is not saying something bad about me"
"I think she is. That can only explain why she is being a chatterbox today"
"Let's join them, quickly" I mutter, walking close to the table.
"You are back," Hannah says.
"Yes"
"Did we keep you waiting?" I ask but her attention has gone back to Elora. I sit beside her while Ariana sits beside Elora.
"What are you guys talking about" Ariana asks.
"Nothing" Elora mutters. "Can we eat now?"
I scoff. Like she cares about the food.
Standing up, I pick the spoon up. "I will dish out the food"
"While Orion dishes out the food can you tell me what you both were talking about not to notice us"
"Elora was telling me about..."
"It's a secret between us" Elora chirps in quickly.
"And I can't know about it?"
"You can't" Elora answers.
Silence returns as I dish out the food quickly. I pass the plate to Hannah first, and then to Ariana. I serve myself and sit.
"You are not going to serve me?" Elora asks.
"I am sure you have hands" I reply with an eye roll.
She scoffs. "Of course, I do have hands"
"Thank goodness you do. So please stand up and serve yourself"
I hear Elora tut and I smile in contentment.
Silence returns once more. As we eat, Elora keeps stealing glances at me.
"What?" I whisper but she ignores me.
I begin to feel so uncomfortable with her stares. Elora is not the type to stare at someone without a reason.
"Thanks for the meal," Hannah says and I look up. She has stood up already and her plate is empty.
I must have been so lost in thought not to notice everyone was done eating including Elora.
"I will take this to the kitchen" Hannah announces.
"You don't have to do that. You're our guest. Elora will clear up the table"
Elora frowns. "Why would I..."
"Get up and do that now!" Ariana commands.
This is the first time I heard her speak that way to Elora.
"Fine, I will. But look Orion has not touched his food a bit"
"You did not touch your food. Are you okay?" Ariana asks and I smile.
"I am fine"
"He must be too excited to have his love around"
"What is that supposed to mean?" I ask. Elora snorts with laughter and I frown. "I ask a question"
"You know what I mean. You don't have to pretend"
"That's enough! Can't you see we have a guest?" Ariana scolds and I sigh. "Orion, go to the living room with Hannah while I clear up the table with Elora. We will go upstairs when we are done so you can have time for yourselves"
"I won't be doing that" Elora answers.
"Elora?" Ariana calls. "You will be going to your..."
"I won't be doing that because I have an unfinished talk with Hannah"
I stare at Hannah who nods and I groan. What unfinished talk is she talking about? And why is Hannah nodding to whatever Elora is talking about?
