You may be wondering how I got into trouble with the Goblins and Dragons, which led to me being hunted by them. It was during the Goblin annual festival. A sacred time for the Goblins. It was the celebration of their existence and also the celebration of their successes.
Movements were always restricted during this period. Most especially that of the Demons. It was said that the appearance of a Demon, during the sacred ritual, brings destruction. Although it has not been proven to be true, a law was made on that note. All Demons were made to stay indoors. And to make sure the law was followed, Dragons were placed on watch, while the Goblins all went for the festival.
This has been going on for a long time, and none of the Demons attempted to know if it was true or not. Every year, we get locked up in our homes, heavily guarded and I wonder why no Demon stood up to fight or even try to know if it's real. Sometimes, I get so curious to know if it is true that Demons bring destruction. And as the year went by, my curiosity increased. It was my curiosity and zeal to know the truth, that made me come up with a decision; which is to find the truth no matter what.
First, I needed to find a way to get out of the house, during the festival. I remember, when I was much younger, my father had told me about a secret passage in the house, that leads to the forest. It was used for conveying the Demons when the Goblins attacked them.
I decided to visit my father's house first to find the secret passage. He never showed me the passage until his death. So I have to look for it myself. I decided that finding the passage would determine the next plan.
So, a day before the festival, I traveled from my house on the mountain to my father's house which was located in the Blue Forest. It was called the Blue Forest because most of the leaves and fruits of the trees that grew there were blue. Although it has fewer trees now, due to the cutting down of these trees by the Goblins and was more of a bush, it still has its blue nature and beauty.
I rested for a while and set to work. It took me hours but I finally did find it. It was an old, dusty, and moist path. Some strange-looking plants were already growing along the path, so I cleared them. By the time I was done, it was night and I was so tired. I went to bed happily, anxiously waiting for the D-Day.
On the festival day, as usual, the Dragons were distributed across the Demons' habitat. They were armed with different weapons and had been given the order to silence any Demon that attempted to violate the rule.
I waited patiently, reading a book, to while away time. The day seems slow, making me more anxious. The banging of the bands and ringing of bells, made me stand up from the couch. I smiled, I knew it was time. Time to carry out my plans. I used the jinx mixture, used in hiding scent. My dad had taught me how to make and use it.
I took a few things I thought I might need and followed the passage, out of the house. I made sure I looked around, before sneaking out. I walked behind the trees, hiding from the Dragons on guard. I was out of the forest in no time. I caught sight of two Dragons on patrol. I hid behind a tree until they were gone. I was about to take the road when I heard voices.
I paused. "Ow'i adilia abil r quin (this festival will be a success)"
I rolled my eyes. "Og'r weli (you're right)" the other replied.
I got bored with their conversations and wished they would just get lost and let me do my job. I waited impatiently and got tired of waiting. I decided to play some pranks on them, to ease my boredom. I picked some nuts and threw them in their direction, distracting them. They turned, I threw a nut again and it landed on one of the Dragons' heads. I chuckled.
"Nil bel og hie aa ( why did you hit me?)"
The other turned in surprise, "l bel not (I did not)". I watched them argue and then threw another. This time, it landed on the second Dragon.
I watched them fight each other and I couldn't help but laugh my ass out. They soon disappeared, leaving me alone. I headed to my destination, avoiding and hiding when necessary. I saw some Goblins from afar and knew I was getting closer. I walked amidst the bushes until I got closer to them. Some were talking, while others were just staring into space.
I took out the invisibility drink and took a little from it. I was able to walk freely among them, without being noticed. I made my way to the front, pushing whosoever stood in my way. It's not like they are seeing me anyway. I stood closer to the elders, so I could get a clearer view of whatever they planned to do.
It was taking too long and the ritual is yet to start. I was getting tired and bored too and the invisibility was already wearing off. Thanks to the crowd, I wasn't noticed. I moved to a more secure place to take the invisibility drink once more.
By the time I was back, the place was in total silence. I noticed their king had shown up. I joined the rest and the ritual began. They started their enchantment and whatever thing they wanted to do. It took a while before the ritual was over.
I rolled my eyes. I thought Demons would be destroyed if allowed to see their rituals, how come I'm here now and nothing has happened?
The king stood up and began to speak in their language. Thanks to my ability to hear and speak their language. I was able to find some hidden secrets. Among them was: them using the Demon powers for sustainability. They also said something about wanting to get access to the Demon's secret gem. They believed if they could get hold of it, the Demons would be defeated
Now I know why they could only enslave us but not destroy us. I've heard about the gem from my father but he refused to tell me where it's located
"Alkis hel!! (Good news!)". I groaned. "e Demon lei mabl g ewl ul ee albis' ebli ( a Demon has agreed to show us the gem's location)
"What!!" I screamed before I could stop myself.
They turned in my direction. I felt they wouldn't see me, since I was invisible. But I was surprised when someone screamed "A demon". At first, I thought it was my imagination. He pointed directly at me and shouted, "A demon!".
That was when I realized my cover had been blown. Before they could process what he was saying, I took to my heels, pushing all those standing in my way. They ran after me in troops, some using their powers, some arrows, and others nothing. It was a race of the fast and furious, as I dribbled them. I followed the part of the whale mountain and disappeared into the cave.
After I successfully escaped, they kept looking for me and wouldn't stop looking for me. They asked for help from the Dragons too. Ever since the incident happened, I've been running from them.
I know that, since they believed I knew their secrets, which of course I do, they won't stop hunting me until they get me.
