"I… I told them Enola, I would come back for you, I told them that I was not putting you up for adoption! How did you end up getting adopted?" My words were warped and almost incomprehensible in my dear.
The door to the shop dinged, followed by a female voice that sounded somewhat familiar. "Because I paid them off and adopted her myself."
My heart lurched hard as I swung my gaze to the door to see the woman that had stormed into the ice cream shop some weeks ago, harassing me because she claimed she was Adrian's younger sister.
What was she doing here?
With my daughter? What the fuck did she mean 'paid them off and adopted her?' Gods did she adopt my daughter?
I grabbed Enola's fingers, unconsciously noting how the girls fingers tightened against mine in return. I stood up, ticking Enola in behind me.
"What do you want here?" I snarled, eyes seeing red.
