Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Let's go to the karaoke!

As Akihito followed Mia outside the building, he was completely shocked at who he saw standing against a wall outside. Although he was incredibly shocked inside, he hid it from his face so that they didn't get the wrong idea. Stood before Akihito, were two very familiar hairstyles. To the right was a boy with crimson red, spikey hair. To the left, was a girl with bright purple, short hair. It was Max and Violet, both of them leaning up against the wall, eating an icelolly each.

"Are they friends of yours Akihito-kun?" Mia queried, as Max and Violet both came walking towards them. Akihito responded with a subtle face palm as if to say 'why? Just why?'

"Woah Akihito-san! You never told me you had a girlfriend! And a good looking one at that!" Max shouted in a completely surprised tone of voice with a grin on his face, patting Akihito on the back. Mia's face instantly went crimson red as she looked down at the floor, hoping her sakura-pink bangs would cover it. Because of Max's shouting, the entire flock of people surrounding the four of them heard every word. Whispers started filling in the awkward silence and sharp glares were aimed towards Akihito.

"It's not like that! She's a co-worker at work! What the hell is wrong with you?! More importantly, why are you here!?" Akihito exclaimed in an even louder voice than what Max's was before, as if he was trying to tell the crowd more so than Max and Violet in front of him. His face was also bright red, however one couldn't tell if it was out of embarrassment or anger. The whispers stopped the moment this was said, but the glares were still sharply aimed towards Akihito.

"Chill out man, it was only a joke. Of course I know who the lovely Mia-chan is." Max assured, as he slightly backed away from Akihito as if to calm him down a little bit. "Me and Violet-san are here to invite you to come to the karaoke with us. It'll be loads of fun and a good chance to catch up with one another." With this, Max guestered towards Violet, leading in both Akihito's and Mia's gaze to be redirected at her. Violet instantly became flustered as her eyes met with Akihito's and instincively bowed in front of them slightly. "Of course, that invitation goes for you as well Mia-chan, if you would be willing to join us." Max then said looking towards Mia with a warm smile on his face, hoping to bring their attention back to himself.

"Yes! I appreciate the invite and gladly accept! Let's go all together." Mia chuckled with a slight nudge in Akihito's side, edging him to accept the invitaiton as well. With a cold and slightly extended sigh, Akihito agreed to going with them to the karaoke place down town. The four of them ventured there on foot, not taking a single stop anywhere else. Max and Akihito were leading with Mia and Violet following them from behind.

"Hey, err... Violet-chan was it? My name is Mia, it's a pleasure to meet you. Sorry, I couldn't help but notice that you're a little quiet, is everything okay?" Mia questioned through a whisper, as she gently grabbed Violet's sleeve, pulling on it a little bit bringing her Violet's mouth closer to her ear.

Violet didn't know how to respond to this sudden cut in the distance between herself and Mia, causing her to flinch out of fear. It wasn't until she saw that it was Mia pulling her that she released her shock and calmed down. "Yes... everything is fine. Why do you ask?" Violet replied to Mia in a soft but semi-embarrassed tone.

"Oh so you can talk. Are you always this quiet? Oh wow- Your eyes, they're so pretty!" Mia responded with a smile as they made eye contact now, talking as if they were best friends. Violet just responded by laughing wholeheartedly.

Akihito and Max paid no attention to the girls' conversation as they still made their way to karaoke building. They still made no stops along the way and eventually ended up in the lobby of the karaoke business.

Inside was empty. The only people there were the staff behind the counter. Two of them in total. Both female. Max went up to the counter to sort out the room that he had booked for the night. It didn't cost him much extra to get a room that allowed room service so he decided to get that room. Akihito, Violet and Mia were all sitting at the chairs on the opposite side of the room, in the waiting area. Mia had a cheeky grin on her face and Violet look both flustered and embarrassed at the same time. Meanwhile Akihito had his usual blank expression.

"So, what song are you gonna sing first Violet-chan?" Mia asked in an almost taunt-like tone, just to fill the empty silence that was growing awkward. Violet once again jumped at the sound of her name being mentioned but quickly calmed down.

"I have n-no idea, but I will s-see when we get into the room. What about you Mia-san?" Violet eventually responded, after calming down, looking Mia in the eyes once again in a curious manor.

"Hmmm. That is a good question. I think I'm going to let Akihito-kun decide what song I sing." Mia said let out with a slight and gentle dig into Akihito's side. Akihito's expression didn't change, in fact, Akihito didn't even budge. He was just staring blankly out the window. Daydreaming about random things. "I wish you were here too." Akihito thought to himself as he let out a sad sigh.

"Hey-" Mia went to say something else but Max interupted her by coming back and slamming the room keys on the table. He didn't slam them in an agressive way, but more so an excited way. "Come on guys, let's get singing!" Max let out in a louder than normal volume and lead the way to the room. The other three followed close behind. Mia and Max both looked excited, Violet looked nervous, and Akihito... just looked emotionless.

All four of them entered the room labelled '5' and sat down. Akihito and Mia sat on the left side, whilst Max and Violet sat on the right. There were four microphones in the centre, placed in holders surrounding what looked to be a touch screen monitor. "How about a game of rock paper scissors to decide who goes first?" Mia inquired to the group since no one was volunteering to go first.

Everyone agreed. In their pairs, they each played a game, and the losers of each game would go against each other. The loser of that one would be the first to sing. It was best of three. Miraculously, it was Mia who had lost both her games.
