Synopsis
In the stories of old there were people who wielded great powers. There was no differentiating them between acts of God or science. It was in this period of old times that humanity enjoyed its most prosperous times, otherwise known as the golden age. They dominated their planet, Earth. However, wherever there is light, there is also shadow. One day a portal of some kind appeared in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, a great swirling circular object had appeared in the sky. With this appearance the world had sent scientist, soldiers, and other humans with other professions to the portal. After the one thousand or so people had gone through the portal it had turned red, and devils, demons, beasts, and freaks of nature descend upon the Earth. Despite humanities best efforts to survive they all died, leaving humanities legacy with the few that had been sent through this portal. The survivors of humanity, later called ‘Sons of Magic’ had been thrust into a new world, dominated by seven sentient countries. The Elvish Country Ralenshire, The Dwarvish Country Yolkstie, The Fairies Country Guardia, The Demi-Human Country Yolensheim, The Floating Country of Flugels Eauphor, The Demonic Planes Abbadol, and Emanities Country of Sasageyo. These are all the grand countries of the World Eldia. Our story revolves around a young boy, one of the chosen who went through the gate. His name, Jace Brits.

Chapter 1 - The New World

We had just passed through what the World Government had called 'The Gate' and what awaited us was fascinating. We had just walked off the boats and straight into a rainforest. "Amazing!" A scientist next to me exclaimed. "Did we find the secret to teleportation?" Another asked. My name is Jace Brits, I am 5'9, have blonde hair, blue eyes, and am fifteen years old and I was one of the chosen ones who based off of my grades in school was to be one of the few chosen who got to go through the 'The Gate' in fact my whole class from Lincoln Academy was chosen, all twenty-three of us. I turned around to see that The Gate had disappeared behind us.

"Where are we?" I asked. The scientist next to me looked around in amazement, "Somewhere in the Amazon Rainforest I presume!" He said excitedly. "What a pain," I whispered under my breath. Before we had entered our scientists said that 'The Gate' was resonating a form of energy that had never seen before, a new form of energy that was possibly coming from an external dimension as they called it. However seeing as how one of these esteemed scientist seems to think that we had only been teleported across the world I was slightly disappointed. The leader of the expedition, Commander Erwin after an hour gave the order to wait here for our people to find us. However, this made no sense to the majority of us seeing as how all of our technology stopped working the moment we went through 'The Gate'.

So me and my class waited with our group, the expedition had been put into ten groups, each with one hundred people, scientists, soldiers, economists, scholars, and business men, were all in these groups. We had waited for two or three days when the Commander issued a new order, it was also at this time when the majority of us hard realized something was wrong. The scientists had determined that the equipment wasn't broken it just refused to work, as if there was something interfering with their function and ability to work. The Commander had told us to spread out in our groups, each one going in a different direction, they were to return at nightfall.

That was the plan, as my class along with a few soldiers and economists pushed forward through the shrubbery and great trees we started to realize something was wrong. Every tree we had marked with an X to find our way back. But for some reason the trees bark regrew over the X almost as soon as we made it. Instead we had decided to leave stones on the ground to mark our way back. I walked behind my best friend, Ben Val. He was the same height as me, had black hair and brown eyes. "Hey Jace?" He asked, "What's up?" I responded, pushing aside a vine. "Are you scared?" He asked. I looked around noticing the rest of my class was awaiting my answer, however each one was acting like they hadn't heard what Ben had asked. We heard a yell from the front of our pack, "Halt!" We ceased all movement.

"Econs, move up please!" The man in the front yelled. People in our pack moved up to see what was going on. Then I felt a pain in my head, and a singular voice, "Run… Run Now!" I heard. The air around us suddenly became denser, "Hey Jace, are you okay! Your ears are bleeding!" Ben said next to me. I looked at him in the eyes, "Run!, Everyone run back now!" The students that had came with me knew something was wrong instantly, it seems they had felt the change in pressure as well.

Without a second thought the twenty three of us turned tail and ran. That was when the screams began, at the front of the pack screams of terror filled the open air, and were suddenly cut off as soon as they began. We heard a roar from behind us, and large thumping sounds, gradually getting closer. I dared to look behind me to see that the majority of our group of one hundred were all on the ground, bloodied, and dead.

"Run!" I yelled again. I felt it in that moment, it had happened so fast I didn't even see it. Just a flash and then I was on the ground with a large pressure on top of me. I heard someone yell out my name, "Just run!" I screamed. That was the last time I heard one of there voices. I looked up to see a beast of some kind with it's claw on top of my chest. It was large, maybe nine feet tall, it had a sleek black pelt, it stood on its hind legs like a human, but it had a face of a wolf, or maybe it was bear, I couldn't tell. My vision was getting blurry due to the lack of air I was experiencing.

I started hitting the claw that was on top of me with all of my force but to no avail. I could hear its growl, it was clear, almost like it was laughing at me. I then saw its sharp teeth get closer and closer to my neck. I watched as my life started to flash before my eyes, then just as soon as it started it had stopped. It was looking up as if it were checking to see if anything else was here. I took my chance at that moment. Every person sent on the expedition was issued a one and a half foot long dagger that we wore on the back of our waist. I grabbed the hilt of the weapon turned it around in my hand and slashed the claw clean off.

It howled in pain and barreled over off of me. I took my chance and started running away. I had no idea which direction it was that I was going. Just anywhere away from here, it took me a moment to realize that in my left hand I was holding the claw of the beast. I had no recollection of me grabbing it. I didn't bother to drop it however, information was information, and something as simple as this claw could help me find out what was going on.

I had ran for so long that the trees all merged together and became one, I could still hear the thumping of a beast behind me, and as I ran for hours the sun had begun to set. I knew what that meant, the moment it set I would loose sight of the beast due to the color of its pelt, if I wanted to survive I had to kill it here.

I saw an open area through all the trees, no less than a quarter mile away. I sprinted as fast as I could into it, to come not into a clearing but coming face to face with the largest tree I had ever seen. It was so large it surpassed many skyscrapers back from my home, and its width was the of the empire state building if it were laying down.

I turned around and drew my dagger, awaiting the beast, I saw it launch out of the forest and got a good look at it. It roared so powerfully it shook my bones. As it got closer I readied myself, I knew I would only have one shot to kill it. It jumped forward to land a killing blow on me with its remaining claw. I put the dagger out in front of me and waited until it was directly in front of me then with all my might I lunged forward thrusting the dagger straight into the beasts throat killing it. I took a deep breath and dropped to the floor exhausted. In front of my eyes a message appeared, "Congratulations! You leveled up!" Quickly followed by, "Unique Skill, Gate of Magic Activated. Skill gained, Dire-wolfs eyesight, attribute, speed +10,"

I had been running for more then half of the day. Only adrenaline had kept me going. I laid looking up to the dusk lit sky. The first time I had seen the sky sense going through 'The Gate'. What I saw amazed me, there was five moons, each further or closer then the others. That was when I realized it, we were in another world, and there was no way to go back to our old world.
