Chapter 3 - Into the Mine

Mamoru's POV

We took our pickaxes and shovels and began walking. The mine is located near my house so it's just a matter of moment for us to arrive there. The three of us are very excited for what we can find in the mine because the only place that we already visited to loot is the open field in the centre of Area 1, where all we can found are nothing but insects and common herbs. That's why I knew how excited Shinji and Katsuo are. Upon reaching the entrance to the mine I said: "The mine is safe to explore especially the higher levels but the lower we go, the materials' quality will increase but monsters are living in the lower levels. The level we can explore right now are levels from 1 to 5, level 6 should be suicidal for us since all we have are pickaxes and shovels. Materials are buried beneath the ground so we need to hit it very hard to collect the materials we can see. Is that all clear?"

"So all I need to do is hit the ground hard right? This is so easy HAHAHA!" Katsuo eagerly replied.

"Remember Katsuo, you need to pick the materials okay? Don't leave them on the ground."

Shinji ridiculed Katsuo.

"Are you picking a fight with me?"

Katsuo countered.

The two are hitting their head to each other.

"Are we going to spend our whole day here talking or are we going to go inside to collect materials for our first weapon?"

Shinji and Katsuo both stop and let out a sigh.

We walk towards the entrance and I heard Shinji shout.

"WE FORGET OUR BAGS! We can't just hold them until we come back right?"\

"Maybe we should go back and to get some? My place isn't that far from here."

I replied to Shinji.

"We don't need to go back, look."

Katsuo pointed at the entrance of the mine.

"Those are shops right? Maybe we could buy some rucksack over there."

He added.

"Good idea, it will save us some time."

I smiled at Katsuo and we look at the shop at the mine.

We entered the shop and there are so many items that are displayed.

As we enter the shop we heard a loud greeting.

"Welcome to Cyclops's Eye, how can I help you?"

The shopkeeper with one eye welcomed us.

"We are looking for rucksacks, do you have any?"

Shinji asked.

"Of course, come over here and take a lot."

The shopkeeper shows us different types of rucksacks.

"What should we get?"

Katsuo muttered.

"I would recommend this one"

The owner of the shop answered.

"This is the toughest bag I had here. It's light weight but can carry a crazy amount of items."

He added.

"How much is it?" I questioned the owner.

"Good quality comes with good price, 600 gold coins." He answered.

Shinji and Katsuo are both shocked.

"Mamoru, maybe we should—"

I cut Shinji and said.

"We'll take it."

"Good choice young man." He owner replied.

I put my hands in my pocket and took my family's insignia.

"Come to my home after we came back, I don't have the money right now but if you bring that insignia later, I will pay you double."

"Mamoru, aren't you spending too much? We will help you pay."

Shinji spoke with his worried voice.

"Don't worry that's not big of a deal."

I smiled.

"As expected of a rich boy living in a palace, do you know that we can buy a house with that amount of money?"

Katsuo argued.

The shopkeeper agreed while laughing.

We leave the shop, having Katsuo holding the rucksack.

"Why do I need to carry it?"

Katsuo said.

"Aren't you the strongest? Oh, maybe you're not, come here give it to me you weakling."

Shinji replied.

"I am the strongest! Come on! Hop in my back Shinji, I can even carry you with this bag."

Katsuo answered with fire in his eyes.

"Are you ready guys?" I announced.

"1, 2, 3."

"Stay alive and conquer the mine!"

We all shouted.

This is the mine, the place where minerals are hidden.
