Chereads / Good Girl in Action / Trip to Wagner's Territory

Trip to Wagner's Territory

Before we leave the house, I left a letter to Mom which was pinned on the fridge. I told her that we have camping and it will take us a week, while Wagner will be staying with a friend that he met at the grocery store. Wagner fabricated a document which states that our school will be having a camp and I'm pretty sure that Mom will be convinced.

We packed a few things for our one week stay in Wagner's house if we're going to make it alive. His place was farther than I expect it to be. We rode two buses and a cab. It took us 16 hours to arrive a few blocks away from his house.

While we're inside the cab, we managed to wear a black jumpsuit and black facemask to hide our identity. We also used earphones so we could talk with each other when the race begins.

The worst part was we were unarmed. I don't know if his plan will work out, but the least I can do was to believe. I was so nervous that I took tranquilizers to minimize my panic attack.

Before we went out of the cab, he held my hand and looked at me in the eye.

"We can do this. Just stick to the plan. You got my back," he said.

I nodded.

We slowly made our way outside of the walls.

It was in the middle of the night. All I could hear was the beating of my heart.

For the first time in my life, I'm going to break into a house where bullets were excited to go straight to my head.

His house was overlooking. The sea was waving in front of the veranda. It was surrounded by stone walls and three trained men were hidden from our sight, but we know where they were.

We hid behind the walls as Wagner crawled to the ground on his way in front of the veranda. My breathing was slow but loud. Sharpshooters hid on the second floor of the house where life and death await.

In a few minutes, Wagner spoke.

"I'm in position."

"Copy that."

I inhaled and exhaled for three seconds.

I revealed myself and stared at the house, enough for the men to see me. I tried to climb up the gate to raise their suspicion.

After a few seconds, I could see red dots pointing at me. It's the signal I've been waiting to start running.

I heard three bullets. It stopped when I ran past the house. But it didn't end there.

They chased after me.

What made it more difficult for me to run were my shoes. It was two inches larger than Wagner's size. We did it on purpose to mislead them on the investigation.

"Kylo? Are you alright?"

"All clear."

As the men chased after me, Wagner was climbing the walls. He called it diversion strategy.

Wagner has long legs and I could feel that I was running faster more than usual. Wagner and I were wearing night vision glasses. Stinger gave it to me as a present. He invented it before he graduated from their school for secret agents.

I think it gave him the idea to break into his own house at night. This thing is a bad omen. I shouldn't have accepted gifts from that couple.

I checked the time on my watch. I've been running for ten minutes.

"Shit," I uttered when I felt the pain in the side of my left arm.

I got shot and I'm bleeding.

"What happened?" Wagner asked.

"Did you make it?" I responded.

"I'm in."

I hid behind a tree. I was gasping for air. I can't t have a panic attack at this moment.

A movement from the bushes caught my attention. It got me so frightened that I grabbed the nearest rock beside me.

Is this the end of me? I was a fool to believe that I can handle the risk of this plan.

I was covering my wound as I focused my eyes on the bushes. I was breathing heavily.

I almost freak out when a cat came out of it.

A deep sigh escaped from my mouth. I was relieved.

I unzipped my jumpsuit and ripped a piece of my inner clothes. I tied it on my wound to stop the bleeding.

"Where are you?" I whispered.

No one answered. At that moment, I was in fear. Those guys were skilled enough that they could put death in their hands.

Neither of us should die. We have to return to our bodies before that happens. We have to survive no matter what it takes.

My horrible thoughts vanished when someone fell from the tree. I could even count my heartbeat per second. I was frozen.

"Put your hands up," the man commanded.

My hands were shaking.

"I said, raise your hands!"

I immediately obeyed him.

"On your knees," he said while pointing a gun at me.

I knelt on the ground.

"He's talking to someone. He must've come with a partner. Search the area," he said.

He averted his gaze to me.

"Tell me your name."

I was silent as a mute.

"Calm down."

I was trembling.

All of a sudden, we heard a gunshot.

"You heard that? Your partner is down. If you'll cooperate with me, I'll spare your life. Think about it."

At that time, all I could see was the image of my mother. My tears were forming in my eyes. I can't think straight.

"Under no circumstances, do not tell anything."

That was our number one rule. But for a second, it didn't occur to me.

"My-my name's Kylo, Kylo Morris."

My eyes were fixed to the ground. I don't know what to do.

"What are you doing here?"

His voice echoed in my ears until it faded and I couldn't hear anything. I was imagining my mother crying at my funeral. She looks at my pale skin while I'm sounding asleep in a coffin, a sleep that will last forever.

I could only see a few people because I don't have friends. They throw flowers at my coffin as it was slowly covered with soil. My tomb lies beside my father.

My soul drifted away from my body and I saw my dad, lending his hands to me. I smiled and held his hands as we walk the path where we should be.

"I repeat, what are you doing here?"

A gunshot took me away from my reverie. I was paralyzed.

In slow motion, my body dropped to the ground and I passed out.

"Kylo."

"Kylo."

My head hurts and my eyes were heavy.

"Kylo."

Someone's calling my name.

I couldn't recognize the voice.

I felt the sweat on my body and my sight was spinning around.

The light almost blinded me that I covered my eyes with my hand.

When my vision became normal, everything was clear to me but I was still confused. The sky was so beautiful and the clouds were as white as cotton. It's moving side by side.

I felt like I was floating. My hair was dancing with the wind. I wished it wouldn't end, but there's no such thing as permanent peace.

I raised my right hand to reach the sky. I just want to hold it or fly above the clouds. To my surprise, my hand was small and feminine. I looked at my left hand and it looked the same.

It freaked me out that I immediately stood up and examined myself. I was wearing my skirt and my old clothes. I came back to my original body!

I couldn't believe it. I roamed my eyes and realized that I was surrounded by clouds. I don't know where I was.

I tried to remember everything and came to the conclusion that I might be dead.

"Hello?" I said.

My voice echoed through the clouds.

"Wagner?" I called.

There was no response.

"What's happening?" I whispered.

My voice was the only sound that I could hear.

"Kylo."

"Wagner—"

I faced the person behind me and thought that it was Wagner, but I froze when my eyes met Osca's.

"W-what's going on?" I asked.

"How many days has it been since we first met?" he replied.

His dazzling wings mesmerized me.

"Ugh… I lost count," I stuttered.

He approached me as he walked with elegance.

I feel like looking at a character from a video game, but he's way more than that. I could feel his sacred aura and overflowing charisma.

"I'm glad to see you, but not with your current state. You were almost shot, my dear."

I gulped. The way he said his endearment to me flattered my heart.

"Almost? I thought I'm already in heaven."

I bit my lower lip as I stared at his glowing skin. His ash-gray hair was a stunning view to look at.

"You should be thankful that you're still alive. You have the chance to solve the mystery that you've created. Besides, it doesn't seem like it but I've been protecting you."

My heart was jumping in joy when I heard his last line. I'm going to confirm to myself that he has officially captured my heart.

"Kylo… I really appreciate the admiration that you felt for me. I believe that it's normal. Seeing an angel always overwhelms a human being for we are beyond the standards of beauty that society has set for itself. But if you're dreaming of having a romantic relationship with an angel, I have to stop that dream of yours."

I blinked my eyes a few times and I was ashamed of what I was thinking. Can he read my mind?

"Of course, I can. I know everything from your scariest nightmare to your wildest fantasy."

He should really stop talking that way because it's turning me on.

He shook his head.

"Anyway, I know how to get your body back."

His good news delighted me.

"How?"

"There's a way for you to get rid of Wagner. I mean a way to take his soul to where it truly belongs. There's a ritual. It's the ritual of convergence."

"Where is it?"

"It's on the other side of this world."

"What do you mean? Which side?"

"The mythical world, the world that you opened. You have to enter the door and close it from the inside. You're the only one who can do it since you unlocked it."

Mythical world? It sounds creepy to me.

"But where's the door?"

"At the bottom of the sea. You have to hurry. Be careful."

"Where exactly—"

Before I could finish my sentence, he disappeared.

"Kylo."

I turned my back to see who called me.

"Osca?"

"What do you mean Osca? It's the best agent in town."

Suddenly, my vision was blurry again, but it didn't last long.

Wagner's face welcomed me that I immediately pushed it away and woke up.

"Are you alright? I've treated your wound."

I was about to answer him when I noticed the change in our environment. I guess it wasn't a dream anymore. I was inside a wide room and Wagner's portrait was hanging on the wall. The moment I sat on the bed, it was the first thing I saw. It was staring at me like it was alive.

"That thing is creepy," I said.

"It's marvelous. I love arts the most, especially if it's a representation of me."

He walked towards the painting and adored it like it's a holy object.

"Don't you know how much it costs? It's fifty thousand dollars."

No way. I can sell it in times of crisis.

"Really? So cheap. I thought it would be one hundred thousand dollars."

"I don't spend much on material things. It's only for decoration."

I rolled my eyes. He always has something to brag about.

The gorgeous stone walls of his room brought an earthy feeling. It has a calming color which was sky blue. The overall design of the furniture was minimalist, yet cozy. The room doesn't look fancy, but relaxing. It's perfect for a bedtime story.

My dream with Osca suddenly came to me. It's too early to tell Wagner about everything. I'm still tired of another adventure.

"What adventure?"

It shocked me when Wagner spoke.

"What adventure?" I repeated his question.

"You said that you're still tired of another adventure."

Did I say it out loud? Gosh.

"Ugh… Are you up for another adventure at the bottom of the sea?"
