The day had been long and tiresome and Serenica had had no chance to talk with Ed again. She was quite irked by the time she went to sleep. She looked forward to letting the Dreamer know how bravely she had acted.
To her great disappointment, he didn't seem glad after hearing what had happened.
"Are you insane? You'd have a shot at a normal life," the prince said, frowning, pacing around the room made up by Serenica's mind. "You'd rather put yourself into danger with me and Spade and live like a criminal."
"I am a criminal, in case you haven't noticed, and I've never had a shot at normal life," she spat out. "I thought you'd understand. You're a prince, after all."
"And I hate it!" the Dreamer yelled, scaring her. "I'd do anything to get the blue out of my blood. I'm tired of meetings with highborn curmudgeons and hags. I'm tired of pretending I want to do anything besides sleep and drink!"
