Chapter 20 - Chapter19

He decisively went home first to grab his guitar, just as Carrie Thomas had returned.

They chatted briefly.

Carrie Thomas seemed down, having originally thought that selling songs would be a simple affair, only to find the reality fraught with difficulties.

She said, "I can't meet with Spotify Top's executives, I can only talk to the entry-level staff in the copyright department, but their authority is too limited, the conditions they offer are too harsh."

Harrison Clark asked curiously, "Isn't it said that Spotify Top's terms are very generous now?"

"That's only relative, but in the eyes of others, a newcomer is still a newcomer, compared to the harshness of others, they're just slightly more lenient. If we don't strive for better, we'll still be at a disadvantage."

Harrison nodded, "That makes sense."

"I must find a way to meet with the head of their copyright department, talking to the entry-level staff is pointless."

Harrison considered for a moment, "After all, this is our first song, it's normal for the other party to offer conservative terms. If it really doesn't work out, there's no need to insist. I have a saying for you."

"What is it?"

"Today you ignore me, tomorrow you can't afford me. Don't worry about the gain or loss of one city or one stronghold, what's important is to seize the opportunity and take the first step."

Carrie chuckled, "If you hadn't added that last bit, you'd owe someone royalties."

"Right, where are you planning to go?"

Seeing him with a guitar on his back and ready to leave, Carrie asked casually.

But no sooner had she asked than she realized it was Harrison's freedom to do what he wanted, and she might have asked too much.

"I'm going to seek out more inspiration, to write the second song as quickly as possible."

Carrie tilted her head slightly, "I was thinking of advising you that creation shouldn't be rushed and inspiration can't be forced, but it seems I really have no place to lecture you, you must have your own plans. So, good luck."

"Mm, thanks for the auspicious words."

Harrison replied rather coolly, but his face turned a bit red as he left.

The second song "Deep in the Night" had already been written, and it was your song.

You're welcome.

Harrison had passed by Margaret Road countless times but had never entered a nightclub.

This place was new to him.

When he entered the doors of the Solemnis Club, there was a little incident.

Other patrons saw his guitar and thought he was a new resident singer.

Two female patrons came up enthusiastically wanting to leave their numbers.

Harrison, who had never seen such a scene before, waved his hands repeatedly, "No, no, I'm not a singer."

"Ey, so aloof."

The girl with the big wavy brown hair said.

"Exactly, modest and unassuming. Just love your artistic vibe."

Harrison was done for, he turned and ran decisively.

Mocking laughter followed him from behind.

"Wait till you're up on stage, then we'll see how you wriggle out of it."

Who knew which girl had shouted that.

Harrison wiped the sweat from his forehead.

What's wrong with this world, where's your restraint?

Except, you really can't blame those two.

His appearance just made it easy for people to get the wrong idea.

He had been running every day for the past month, and his physique had significantly improved from his past frail appearance, appearing very well-proportioned.

A good physique paired with above-average dressing and a slightly melancholic gaze really gave off a slightly unusual aura.

Not just customers, but even the club employees mistook Harrison.

As soon as Harrison walked in, he randomly picked a direction hoping to find a spot to sit and wait for an opportunity when a uniformed employee grabbed his clothes.

"Where are you off to? The performers' rest area is this way."

Harrison responded quickly, raising his hands apologetically, "Sorry, it's my first time here, I'm not very familiar."

"I only called you over because you looked new. Just go straight ahead and turn left, I'll take you there." The employee smiled, "You must have strong connections."

Harrison was initially stunned, "What do you mean?"

"Jenny Hart is holding a fan meeting; many singers who want to perform at our club are going over the top. That's Jenny Hart for you. Just getting caught on video warming up the crowd and posting it online might make you famous overnight. You might even get onto entertainment news by association. For some fresh face like you to be picked by Lewis, there must be some backdoor deals, no question."

Harrison was taken aback but inwardly commended the employee.

Talent, indeed!

The guy was really sharp and great at deduction.

No wonder he was so enthusiastic, the reasoning was sound and convincing.

"Ha ha... ha ha ha..."

Feeling he might give himself away with too much talk, Harrison awkwardly laughed his way out of the situation.

Fortunately, this clever fellow didn't ask too much and took him to the place before leaving, saying they should have a drink together sometime.

The Solemnis Club was large, and the artists' rest area was over a hundred square meters.

After entering, Harrison didn't wander around but sat in a corner trying to minimize his presence.

Though people came and went, no one noticed this uninvited guest in the rest area.

Unnoticed, the time reached half-past seven, and a fat man entered from outside.

Once they saw him, the people in the rest area greeted him warmly.

"Hello Lewis."

"Lewis bro, when is Jenny coming?"

The fat supervisor, Lewis, waved his hand, "She's already here, the car is parked outside. Listen up, everyone, you've got one minute to get out. Jenny needs the rest room."

"What, Lewis! We haven't even changed our clothes yet. Does Jenny need such a big space all to herself? Then where should we go to change?"

Lewis spread his hands, "There's nothing we can do about it, she's a top artist. It's always us making do for others, not the other way around. Hurry up! If you need to change clothes, go find a restroom outside, I'm not joking! Move it!"

Harrison had intended to stake out the place to see if he could manage a conversation with Jenny Hart's agent, but before he even saw anyone, he was turned out.

A group of low-level performance staff scurried away dejectedly.

After leaving, Harrison turned a corner, set his guitar down at his feet, and stopped at the entrance to the performers' rest area.

But he already had a premonition about what tonight would be like.

Jenny Hart may not be as famous as Avril Green, but her entrance certainly was grand.

The bearing of an artist was typically determined by the artist's manager.

It was unlikely that Harrison would have a chance to speak directly with Jenny Hart, so he would have to deal with her manager instead, which looked bleak.

Unfortunately, Harrison had just stood up Avril recently. He was not thick-skinned enough to feel comfortable asking for help again now.

Their relationship wasn't close enough; they were practically strangers.

Since there was an opportunity today, Harrison decided to try for himself first, before turning to Avril Green or Bella Ross if all else failed.

Less than five minutes had passed when four black-clad bodyguards led a large group through the club entrance.

It was undoubtedly Jenny Hart and her entourage.

Lewis led the way, ushering the crowd straight towards the rest area.
