CHAPTER START---
---4 Days After Rakia, 5 AM...
Sleeping comfortably Riveria feels the mattress behind her depress, then a shifting motion and the blanket being lifted as someone slid beneath it to join her.
"Mmm," Riveria groans. She felt a warm body now pressed against her naked back. A slender hand wrapped around her and gently caressed her stomach as she rests below the blanket.
Internally panicking for a moment Riveria subtly peeks out of the blanket.
'Ah, that's right,' her memories of the prior night come rushing back. A heated blush dominates her face as she recalls the things Yang, Freya. and herself did in this room, this bed, Yang's bed.
Looking out at the room she sees barely any light, the sun wasn't even up yet.
With a content sigh and a smile on her lips, she pulls the blanket back over her head and tries to get some rest. The hand caressing her stomach gently moves to hold one of her breasts as they both fall back into a peaceful sleep.
---9 AM...
Fully waking up Riveria still feels the hand on her chest, pulling the blanket down so she can look around the room she sees dim sunlight filtering in through the thick curtains.
"We should get up," she says quietly.
"Mmm," a groan is the only response she gets until a few seconds later Freya's voice reaches her ears. "A few more minutes, I'm still a bit tired from waking up earlier," the goddess says.
Hearing the voice Riveria pauses for a moment. Lifting her end of the blanket for the light to reach her body she sees her naked form with Freya's slender hand wrapped around her and cupping her breast.
"Get off of me," Riveria says as she pushes Freya's hand off of her and makes some space between them.
"Hm, what's your problem?" the goddess asks, moving up on her pillow to look at Riveria.
Riveria pulls the blanket to her chest and frowns at Freya, "I thought you were Yang, what were you doing?"
"I was sleeping," Freya gives her a bored look as she lays on her side. "Why are you acting so shy now, did you forget what we did?"
"That was different," Riveria argues.
"Sure sure, if you say so," Freya teases before laying down and looking up at the ceiling. "When does your familia expect you back at Twilight Manor?"
"Tonight," Riveria says. "They think I'm in the dungeon, Lefiya knows the truth in case something happens, she can cover for me."
"Ahh, your daughter, Yang's ex-girlfriend," Freya muses.
"Can you please not say it like that, we're both trying not to remember that second part," Riveria says.
"Right, I should have guessed that. But the point is I still have some time with you."
"Or I can leave now," Riveria says flatly.
"Don't you think we should at least be able to spend time alone together on friendly terms, without Yang here to mediate I mean," Freya suggests. "I'd at least like to know how you feel about this whole...situation."
Riveria stares at the goddess for a tense moment before releasing a deep sigh and laying on her back, joining Freya in staring at the ceiling "mmm, fine."
"So?" Freya asks.
"So what?"
"How do you feel about all of this?"
"Oh," Riveria thinks long and hard before she gives her answer, a strange mix of joy and confusion on her face. "I feel like, I shouldn't be happy, but I am. Is that strange?"
"Yes, and I have no idea what you mean," Freya says flatly.
"Well, let me explain it like this. I grew up as a princess, groomed to be queen one day, and marry whoever I had to in order to secure a future for my people. As an adventurer I always sought to be nothing but the absolute best, never settling for second place, that's why I'm Great Mage instead of anyone else."
"All true, plus Hedin and Hogni have all but given up on stealing that title from you," Freya says.
"Then why am I happy here, in his bed, talking to you, while being his concubine. And I'm genuinely happy," Riveria gives Freya a worried look, "it doesn't make sense."
"Maybe because you can't teach someone who they're meant to be," Freya says in a calming gentle voice. "If this is where you're happy then just accept it instead of trying to make sense of it."
Riveria closes her eyes and lifts a hand to her face, taking steady breaths to calm down. "I suppose I was just overthinking it," she releases a heavy sigh.
"Mhm, but I have a question."
"What's the question?" Riveria asks.
"Why 'concubine'?"
"It's the most logical choice," Riveria says. "I can't be a wife because well, my duties to my familia would clash with it and can cause internal conflicts if this gets revealed---"
"And Yang doesn't actually believe in marriage," Freya says. "He thinks it's only for poor people, fools, and women."
"Oh, I didn't know that," Riveria is saddened by the news but keeps a stoic expression as best she can, not at all fooling the goddess. "Well as I was saying, I can't be his wife, can't be public about this for the same reasons, and I'm sure he'd like to avoid drama as well, and honestly...part of me likes the secrecy, especially after a lifetime of having everyone wanting to know everything about you."
"The life of a princess...former princess," Freya corrects herself.
"That hasn't been made official yet," Riveria says.
"Really?"
"I'm willing to bet the king is trying to spin the results of the war in favor of keeping me in line for the throne, Elves are the one kingdom that wed for life, that makes me his only heir," Riveria explains.
"Meanwhile most kings have a queen and a few other women," Freya says.
"That I could never do or understand," Riveria admits. "You're already enough, can't imagine another one."
Freya giggles at her words and rolls onto her side, draping her arm across Riveria's chest once more. "That's almost exactly what Yang said when I suggested you to him. Said one woman was already enough of a headache."
"He's not wrong."
"True. But as for the why they do it, a dozen women are willing to share one man. Well, you can't expect a man with the world in his hand to be completely loyal now, can you? You can hope, but that's an unrealistic expectation to have of a king."
"I don't see why that's too much to ask for," Riveria says.
"Because that's just how it is. Take Yang for example, with all the money and power in the world, because I'm actually fairly sure the military power on this floor right now is more than the rest of the world combined, and it's all at his command. Being his woman, either his main wife or his one-hundredth concubine would be a guaranteed easy life. Never having to worry about safety, security, shelter, food, or whatever else you want. And if you make a child for him then the deal gets that much sweeter. Everyone knows this, and a man with resources like that could have a hundred women if he wants. And I'm sure at least half the women in Orario would drop everything for a chance at that life, do you really expect someone in that position to settle?"
After a few long minutes of deep thought Riveria answers, "no, he doesn't have a reason to settle."
"Exactly," Freya nuzzles up to Riveria and rests her head on the Elf's shoulder. "Now imagine how lucky we are that he's content with just the two of us, at least for now, and I almost had to beg for him to even give this a chance."
"For now?" Riveria asks.
"Well," Freya moves her hand down to caress Riveria's belly. "When this little one is born and Yang stays I'm sure in a few years he'll get a bit tired of the same two women. Nothing is as exciting for a man as a new woman after all. Then he'll have his fun around the city, but he'll always come right back here and never bring them home."
"Why not?" Riveria asks.
"Because I'll kill them," Freya says in a cold tone. "After the children are born, of course, little Shens are always welcomed."
Riveria gives Freya an uneasy look, not sure what to say to that.
"Oh," Freya looks apologetic. "You're a special case, I promise, I never intend to hurt you, I genuinely want you to be with us. Even after you make the baby."
"I'm not sure if I should believe you or not," Riveria says. "But I don't think Yang would let anyone hurt me especially if he knows I'm the mother of his child, even you, so it's fine."
"Exactly."
"But you do know this isn't me agreeing to anything like that, right?"
Freya only giggles in response, "please, after last night and the way he was filling us with---"
"Contraceptive tea," Riveria cuts her off. "It's expensive but I bought quite a bit, one cup a month, no babies. You really think he'd have been that careless if I didn't tell him about the tea?"
A tense silence befalls the room as both women lock eyes.
Eventually, Freya takes a deep breath to calm herself before speaking. "You. Selfish. Bitch."
"Exc---"
"Don't you understand how much work I did to even get you here, to get Yang to open up to the idea of another woman? The fact that I'm even willing to share so you can be with the man you love should have been enough. You should have leaped at the chance to make babies with him, but no, you only think about yourself, you're selfish," Freya shakes her head in disappointment.
Riveria looks shocked at the accusation, "you're trying to anchor him here with a baby but want to make me the bag guy? You can't be serious..."
"What's so wrong with wanting a family, hmm? Me, you, Yang, some babies, sounds perfect to me."
"If you want a baby so much then either have Yang ask me directly because then I'll gladly have his babies, or you can adopt one," Riveria says flatly.
Freya pulls back as if the woman spat in her face, "adopt? You want me to be motherly and raise a child with Yang that doesn't even have a drop of his blood?" Freya looks away from Riveria and folds her arms, "for the sake of our relationship, I'll pretend you didn't suggest something so disgusting to me."
As Riveria is trying to wrap her head around Freya's words the goddess hops out of bed, wearing a pair of shorts under one of Yang's shirts, and begins making her way to the door.
"Get cleaned up and come join me for breakfast," Freya says as she leaves Riveria to sort herself out.
'She's a monster...no, if Yang is with her then she has to be good, right?' Riveria questions as she gets out of bed.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror she gives herself a full appraisal, feeling completely sore as if she endured two days of physical training, small blue bruises across her body all easily concealable. And finally a blatant bite mark on her butt, "seriously? Why would he even do that?" she asks herself while getting into the shower.
---11 AM...
After taking a long warm shower and getting dressed Riveria walks down the hallway toward the kitchen wearing a pair of light green shorts and a white top, clothes she packed to spend the night here. Otherwise, she'd have to walk around in her robes...or likely borrow clothes.
"Is everything you wear green?" Freya asks, sitting on the island counter and eating a slice of toast.
"I have an image to maintain," Riveria says as she approaches the woman.
"Eggs and toast, there should be some ham leftover from what I made Yang before he left," Freya points to a plate covered on another counter.
"What time did he leave?" Riveria asks as she dishes out some breakfast for herself, taking her plate and a glass of juice into the living room, one step behind Freya.
"Around five this morning," Freya says as they both get seated to have breakfast.
"I thought he likes to sleep in, something important came up?"
"Not exactly," Freya sips her drink before she continues. "Yang has been having a recurring dream for a while now...since he woke up from his little coma after returning to Orario. The same dream, constantly reliving the last day he saw his family, sometimes it wakes him up early and he can't go back to sleep," she says sadly.
"And you always wake up to make breakfast, no matter the time?"
"I sleep very lightly, it's impossible for him to get out of bed without waking me. And I like cooking for him," Freya says.
"Loki said you can't make anything that should be served to things that can taste," Riveria points out.
Freya pouts and folds her arms below her chest, "well I've been very serious about learning to cook this past year. You haven't complained about your breakfast," Freya gestures to the almost empty plate of eggs and toast.
"True, it's delicious," Riveria admits.
"Exactly, and you couldn't even tell I dropped it on the floor."
"...." Riveria freezes and just looks at Freya.
"That was a joke, I promise I didn't drop the food," she says before Riveria continues eating.
After a few more minutes of light conversation, Riveria finally asks something she's been meaning to speak to Freya about.
"I have a question about Yang, specifically about...sex," Riveria says in a small voice.
"No need to be such a prude now, we were all very open last night."
"Right," Riveria blushes slightly. "Well my question is, are you supposed to be sore afterward or is that just because of him? I mean...before Yang I never even had a first kiss, much less anything else."
"Well for the latter, practice makes perfect, and for the former. Yang will give you lots, and I do mean an absurd inhuman amount of practice, that's why you're sore."
"Oh..." Riveria gives a slightly confused expression.
"Look, between us, part of the reason I wanted you here is that dealing with a horny teenager...I actually think his 18th birthday was recent or will be soon. So dealing with a horny teenager that has eight levels of stats, one of which is an always maxed out Endurance stat, and I'm fairly sure he has skills that boost it even further, that's too much for me to handle alone."
"Oh...well at least that explains the bruises...I'd still like to know why he bit my butt..." Riveria says quietly.
Sitting across from her Freya is failing to hold back her laugh, eventually breaking out into a mad cackle that still sounds pleasant to Riveria's ears.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh," Freya struggles but eventually catches her breath and calms down. "Yang didn't bite you, that was me, you were just so cute I couldn't resist."
With her face in a full blush at the giggling goddess, Riveria gets up and takes their dishes to the kitchen, "I should wash these quickly..."
Following Riveria into the kitchen as she's washing the dishes Freya takes out two jars from a cabinet.
"Are those real?" Riveria asks, taking a moment to glance at Freya.
One massive jar of Crystal Drops, and an identical jar of Coral Nectars. Costing roughly one million and one hundred million Valis respectively.
"Which do you prefer?" Freya asks.
"Coral Nectars, I think everyone prefers them," Riveria says as she continues with the dishes.
"True, the deeper the floor the better the loot after all," Freya puts the jar of Crystal Drops away. "They literally grow on trees in the floor one hundred and one safe zone so you can pick them when you get there."
Riveria chuckles darkly as she sets the dishes to dry, "after seeing the kind of power he has, you really think it's possible for us to get that far?"
"Well, talking about Falna, adventuring, and the dungeon is a bit taboo in this household, but...Yang has never said it's impossible for your familia, just that your approach is wrong," Freya shrugs and grabs two wine glasses.
Riveria smiles at that answer as she dries off her hands," I see, then there is hope for us yet."
"He also plans to take Lefiya and train her properly if you guys fuck up too badly soo..." Freya shrugs and begins walking away with the jar of candy, "follow me for some fun."
"You should know by now I'm not interested in women," Riveria says as she's one step behind Freya.
"I'm aware, and not that kind of fun," Freya says as they arrive at Yang's room. "If you were, me fondling your tits would have been enough," she winks at Riveria.
"You were trying to seduce me?"
"No no no," Freya says as they enter the room. "I was simply admiring them. Honestly, it's a miracle your robes can make you look flat when you have breasts larger than Tione's, no wonder Yang couldn't keep his hands off of them."
"Uh, thank you?"
"Of course, they're larger than mine so it makes sense he'd be all over you. Too bad my charm doesn't work on him," Freya says as she sets down the jar and glasses on the carpet.
"Right, he mentioned that, something about the Chaos Mark resisting it."
"Mhm," Freya points to Yang's bookcase with all the 'boring' books and grimoires and points to the very top. "Setup that chess set while I get the last thing we need," she says before walking off into the closet room.
'This better not be a sex thing,' Riveria shakes her head and walks over to the bookcase. Her eyes immediately snap to the grimoires, passing a finger down the spine of the books she observes the runes carved into them before focusing on the task at hand.
Taking the box with the chessboard and pieces she moves back to the carpet and drops down to the floor with the game.
As she finishes setting up, out of the connecting room she sees goddess Freya emerge, carrying five bottles of white wine.
"Wine, in the closet, what?" Riveria asks as Freya sits on the other side of the game.
"There was a small incident and Yang overreacted," Freya passes a bottle to Riveria who easily opens it, level-6 strength after all. "He banned me from alcohol."
Watching Freya eagerly fill her entire glass Riveria quickly puts the pieces together. "Maybe we shouldn't be drinking then, I mean what if he comes back and catches me giving you alcohol."
"Don't be like that, as long as we clean up before he comes back we're fine," Freya says.
"And how long is that?"
"Mmm, three or four hours, or whenever he gets hungry. He should be helping Thalie on the roof of Babel with her new weapon right about now."
"Alright, what's the game?" Riveria asks.
"Every time you lose a piece, drink," Freya says.
"And are you good at chess?"
"I don't really have anyone to play with, everyone in my familia lets me win and Yang is the absolute worst at chess."
"Really? I assumed the mythic expedition leader would be a grandmaster at it."
"I thought so too, but no it's the complete opposite. He has some kind of mental issue where he's unable to sacrifice even a pawn to protect his king, it translates to not sacrificing other people's lives for his adventure."
"That sounds like good moral character," Riveria argues, "not a 'mental issue'. Although didn't he help in the execution of Rakia's army and upper class?"
"Those people would have died anyway," Freya says. "With or without Yang, Welf was getting involved, at least with Yang he wouldn't die as well. And it caused fewer deaths than if they never got involved and watched the Elves die."
"I suppose that explains why he doesn't punch holes in everyone whenever he's mad."
"Mhm," Freya nods and takes a sip of her wine as she makes the first move. "And it makes him great at checkers. The whole 'all life matters' nonsense he preaches as an ecologist translates well to a game where any pawn can become a king."
"That does make more sense for him," Riveria moves one of her pieces. "And why hide wine in the closet exactly?"
"It's the one place I'm sure he'll never check and I'll never have to go into while he's home, his coat section," Freya says.
"Why the coat section?"
"Well, Elementalist means he doesn't feel hot or cold outside of extremes, and I do mean 'melt the world' type extremes. I learned that the hard way believe me, but it means he never needs a coat so he'd never check his coats."
"But he always wears that blue coat," Riveria points out.
"The Blue Zinogre Coat, yeah. That's honestly mostly for style and so he doesn't have to get naked to use magic if he isn't wearing combat clothes made by Welf," Freya says.
"What do you mean?"
"It's treated Zinogre hide and fur. Plus some drop items from the...I believe it's floor seventy Monster-Rex. Basically, the coat always stays at room temperature and can resist a certain amount of fire and ice, perfect for him," Freya says as she takes a sip of wine because Riveria captures one of her pawns.
"Wow, all this time I thought he just liked the look..."
"Nope, it's more useful than most defensive adventuring gear people have access to, and it's a convenient scapegoat for me if he ever complains about my clothes being expensive. I'd love to see him try that with a two hundred million Valis coat that he knows is mostly useless for him," Freya giggles at the thought.
---5 PM...
Walking through the hallway of his apartment Yang found it eerily quiet. He'd called out and Freya nor Riveria had answered.
The answer to this great mystery was solved when he entered the bedroom and saw the two beauties embracing each other.
Asleep.
Drooling.
On the floor.
Surrounded by bottles of wine, boxes of candy, and half a jar of Coral Nectars.
"Well, at least they had fun...guess Riveria needs to stay another night..."
