Charlotte's POV

I was finally out or so I thought. If I could just make it past these woods I would make sure they never find me.

Ahhhhhhhh...

I screamed. Running as fast as my trembling legs could carry me, I was so scared, my breath shaky. I had seen a shadow and in that instant stepped on a twig, the edge of it digging deep into my skin.

I was in the forest surrounding his fortress, the leaves as green as algae, wet from the rain that had drizzled a few hours before. Although it was a bit dark I could still make out what was in front of me. I was still on the run and my dress wasn't helping matters, it was too long for quick movement and was rather too thin.

I brushed past the branches of the lower trees swiftly not caring if the sharp thorns in these bushes bruised my skin. My thighs would have gotten a new complexion by now. That lovely uneven blend of tanned white skin and long red marks from multiple scratches, well spread across my thighs and legs, not leaving out my arms and cheeks. Although they were not deep cuts, it still would take days for them to wear off.

Under normal conditions, I would stop and admire its beauty, that natural green color, calming dark green of the leaves, making you feel like nature was it all. Not reflecting warm or cool just enticing. Keeping you longer to just stand and stare. The smell of fresh air, grasses, flowers just lingering in your nostrils, relaxing. Green is my Favourite color.

Something was chasing me. An animal maybe. I could not see it, I did not even want to. I couldn't dare to look behind me. I could hear its breathing. Dear Lord, my bones were aching I can't afford to fall now.

I fell. Hard. Face flat, my body crashing forward. Wrecking my neck and wrists on which I landed. So much for not wanting to fall Charlotte. I had tripped on one of the fallen branches from a tall tree that was at my side. My entire body hurts. Turning behind me I came face to face with a dog, in all its glory. Mouth ajar, tongue out with saliva dripping, breathing heavily and watching me. Bad doggy, too close for comfort boy! It must have seen me leaving the fortress and then my gaze landed on Razuel. I could swear I died at that moment. I almost burst out in tears the moment my eyes landed on him. I was so close, really close I could see the borders in front. The bastard had caught up with me. Am so toast. As if reading my thoughts he smirked and hit me hard across the face. His palm found a very comfortable spot on my face the collision causing it to turn the other way. My poor neck! He held my chin up roughly, almost jaw-breaking, his fingers digging into my skin so I could face him.

"The next time you try to run, I will find you and when I do catch you, I will ruin you, strip you off all your privileges you spoiled brat. You are going nowhere my dear Charlotte and even if you do manage to leave, it won't be for long because you can never hide forever. I will always find you, anywhere, wherever you run to".

"Get up you fool, there's no way you will get out of this you will do as I say, You owe me. If it means chaining you to the walls of your beds or locking you up in the dungeon or worse I will. Do not provoke me." He threatened.

Razuel half dragged me towards his hulking fort, the stupid dog trailing behind us. I bet it was feeling proud, ego rating close to a hundred, it did what his master wanted.

He held my hair tightly releasing it only to grip my arms painfully, forcing me to walk partly on my own and his half dragging me. I wondered how they hadn't pulled off still.

My arms.

He continued dragging me up the stairs, to my room, opened the door, and threw me into the room. Harshly not caring how I landed. My poor ribs. My entire body ached.

"Now look at me, yes, straight in the eyes, so it can sink into that lump of head charlotte. The only reason I will not punish you is because we have a wedding to attend tomorrow now don't we? We won't have our guests bugging us with questions of if she has a disease of some sort or why she had numerous body colors now do we?". Razuel said with a smug smile of victory coating his anger.

I just stared at him blankly like he had grown another head instead of replying.

I do feel he grew another brain and this was the dumber version of the originally dumb one taking the active role.

" Answer me when I ask you a question, don't vex me more than you have already lady". He threatened.

"No, no we don't," I said maintaining his stare.

"Good girl" he smirked. "I didn't want to hit you Charlotte and am so sorry I did. It was all in the heat of the moment but you make simple instructions turn out so difficult to follow, why!". He complained.

Bastard, is he even serious or maybe there wasn't even a dumb brain at all, it was just empty.

Moving backward he stormed out of the room slamming the door on his way out. Might as well ruin the door like you are planning to do me I murmured so only I could hear it. I refused to cry any longer mainly because even my eyes hurt at this point too. What was meant to happen will happen. I was tired of all this, tired of crying myself to sleep, having sleepless nights just from the thought of not having a say in how my own life will go, being locked up here, thinking about getting married to a man that would be twice the age of my father if he was still alive.

I was going to fall sick. Good gracious, I felt like throwing up just from the thoughts of it. I got up with what little strength I still had left thinking, I could try to talk to him, make him listen to reason, maybe I could convince him to postpone the wedding, beg him to. Tell him to give me a little more time. Rushing to him I almost got slammed in the face with the door. I tried turning the knob and discovered it was locked. A guard, am sure had finally locked it. I was officially a prisoner now.

"Dear lord there was no way out now", who am I kidding Razuel won't listen to a word I say". A guard reopened the door and I thought it was him, not knowing he was only here to drop some medication and food on the bedside table. After he exited the room I slide down to the floor and cried. I don't want this, any of it. I didn't even want to be here.

Now, how did I get into this mess? Sit back, listen and enjoy an interesting tale, one with so many errors, misfortunes. The tale of my life. I must warn you it is no fairytale. I am Charlotte Montogary.
