"Can we talk now?" I ask Xavion, the wooden beams on the ceiling filling me with immense boredom.
"Mhm," he nods but doesn't move from his position by my side.
"Xavion," I warn him with a stronger tone, hoping it gets through to him. It does.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry," he almost jumps up at the sudden urge to comfort me, my voice having more of an effect on him than I thought.
He caresses my cheeks with his large hands and the roughness of his hands with the gentleness of his touch throws me off guard for a moment but I regain my composure. I lean into his touch to let him know I'm not going to throw a fit and he seems to relax a bit at my calmness.
"I understand you are protective of me, but you have to talk to me so I can understand you better. I can't feel your feelings, unlike you," I softly advise him, remembering I'm human in a pack full of werewolves.
I don't let the reminder discourage me because I don't want Xavion to go through another moping session.
"I was scared. So scared," he whispers, tilting his head down at the memory.
"I may be a human, but I'm not useless," I voice my thoughts, wanting him to know that I want him to also rely on me sometimes.
Xavion stays silent for a few seconds, probably thinking his words over before he hesitantly answers my concern.
"I was... irrationally scared. My first instinct is to protect you and I wasn't even by your side when rogues came looking for trouble," his voice fades with every word and eventually I have to lean in to hear what he is saying. The action makes my upper body slightly lean over his own and Xavion notices immediately.
My voice drops to barely above a whisper as Xavion turns his head towards mine, "You could always teach me how to fight if that would make you feel better."
A small smile slips onto Xavion's face and I can feel a rumble coming from his chest, making me realise how close we actually are.
I pull back to give him some space but his arms fly upwards to cage me in his embrace. My eyes grow as wide as dinner plates as he adjusts our position so that almost completely on top of him. I look back into his eyes after losing the ability to breathe and notice his eyes growing ever so slightly darker.
"Breathe," Xavion reminds me of my basic human need and I do as told while gripping his shirt in my fists to release some nerves.
A smirk grows on Xavion's face and I speculate he is losing control of his emotions. Our hearts beat in sync and I can't imagine how much the bond is affecting him if I'm already this deep.
He suddenly squeezes his eyes shut and I feel his arms stiffening, most likely in protest.
He doesn't realise the effect it has on me to be this close to his face and have no one stop me. All I need to do is lean down.
So that's what I do.
Time slows down as I inch closer and closer. My eyes automatically flutter shut as our lips touch.
Xavion deeply inhales as I feel the world around us fading away. The feeling alone from kissing makes me relax and sink deeper into his embrace.
It takes Xavion a few seconds to realise what I'm doing before he takes the initiative to deepen the kiss. One of his hands slides up my back and secures the back of my head with a gentle touch. My hair which I didn't even bother to do today falls around us like a curtain, shielding the light from the windows.
It doesn't take long for me to lose my breath, so I place my hand on his cheek before pulling away. I try to gasp for air while he doesn't give me a lot of space to pull back.
He soon realises he doesn't have much of a choice to loosen his grip as my loose hair is getting in the way of enjoying the moment.
Just as I'm about to reach for my hair, he sits up straight, pulling me with him so that I sit on top of him.
I grab his shoulders to steady myself while he buries his face in my neck. He deeply inhales through his nose while tracing his nose along my neck to my ear and something inside me clicks.
"Are you sniffing me?" I whisper in question, finding the situation amusing.
"Sorry," he apologises but doesn't make an effort to stop.
The position we are in makes me reach for his hair and start combing it, letting him do what he wants.
However, the moment doesn't last long as Xavion suddenly pulls back and places me on the bed.
"Sorry," he curtly explains before rushing to the door and yanking them open. "What?'
'Was that a growl?' The thought swirls in my head but I shake my head in order to prevent myself from thinking further.
"Meeting- I mean, you have to join the meeting after what just happened," Royce's voice explains. I shuffle to the end of the large bed and walk over to the two leaders as Xavion tries to refuse.
"Go ahead," I urge him on with my hand on his shoulder as a form of reassurance.
Xavion's body relaxes under my touch and it seems to make him think more clearly too.
"Wait for me," he whispers in my ear as he hugs me farewell.
I pat him on the back just before he pulls away. I nod once more as he walks away.
Royce nods at me as a greeting before following Xavion to wherever they need to be.
On that note, maybe I should get something to eat because now I'm feeling peckish.
I close the doors of the bedroom behind me and make my way over to the kitchen, either hoping someone is already there or it would be easy to find a snack of some sort.
When I reach the opening of the kitchen, I spot Imelda near the stove.
"Mind if I join?" I call out and she swirls around to take me in.
"Of course not, not if you mind getting some cheeses from the fridge," she jokingly orders me around and I reassure her before walking over to the fridge.
