Five. That number continues to haunt me in my dreams every night. Questions fill my mind. Why did I accept his gift? Why me?If I knew the power it yielded and the consequences it would predict would I still have accepted? I think I should've. I mean look at the perks. I'm a superhero. I'm undestructable, but I have to keep this magic ball safe from the outside and others. That is the life I chose now, right? No. This life chose me and if I don't do something about it it will control me.
For the past five years I have been deamed worthy to look after this ball and give it to the next rightful ruler of whatever forsaken place they live. Hell, I don't even know. Let me tell you where it all began.
One day as I was riding my ripstick this weird creepy homeless man stuck out his hand and grabbed my ankle as I was walking past. I was freaked. My ripstick and I did a one eighty in the air and landed on our bums. Wheels cracked and I wasn't happy.
"What the problem is ?" I had asked him.
He said nothing. He just pointed across the street.
I looked to see the town's ancient magic shop. Now it stood empty and forsold.
I turned back to him.
"It's empty. What is your name anyways?"
"Si mi vin kamati. vi messenger di trian malsvir vur bensvelk," he recalled back.
I knew some magic and the road it went down but not the language.
"You. You're a wizard. Imagine that. See, the store is closed. I have to go now," I said, picking up my ripstick and starting to leave.
He grabbed my ankle again and held out his hand dangling an all seeing eye of God cross.
"Take this. You need it more than me."
I tried to resist but he kept persisting and shoving the cross closer and closer to me. I finally gave in. Worst mistake of my life. Instantely upon putting it on it controlled me to the magic shop. I couldn't stop. I couldn't move away. I couldn't do anything. Cars madly swerved around me, a few honked and some exchanged words with me.
The beat up, racky tacky run down shop. I stared up at it remembering all the times I played by it when I was younger. I can't remember ever not seeing this shop. It was here before even our town was. No one knew how old this was. I looked to the left and right real fast before I ripped the tape off and slowly opened the ancient doors. They creaked and a musty pudent odor welcomed me and my nostrils. I stepped in. There was no one in sight. I looked for a lightswitch but saw none. My necklace suddenly glowed and beconed me to move again. I let it. It led me to the back of the store where I found this ball. I stepped outside and the man was gone. From then on a voice almost as if a whisper in my head led me and instructed me to where I am today. I never took off the necklace since then. The necklace wouldn't let me. I made up my mind. Today I am going to put this ball back. There is only one problem. The shop was torn down and a cosmetology store now stood. A silver lining. My silver lining. The word gethrisj repeated itself over and over in my head more vividly now then a whisper. This time I knew what it meant. I walked to the store and handed the ore off to its next rightful ruler. When I walked out my powers left. I couldn't have been happier. A new life with a new me. I couldn't wait.
