Our story begins with a unique individual.
"Why now?" Faris groaned coming out of his trance like state. The sun was in his eyes, this meant morning had passed and it was the afternoon already. "I rested for a while, time for another day of doing the same thing as yesterday." He smirked rising up off the bed to look out the window.
Faris lived in Kornia, it was the capital of the southern region of Empyreal. Empyreal was continent separated into 4 regions North, South, East, and West. The regions themselves were different by atmosphere but all cities were pretty much the same. Kornia was the capital of the southern region. The city itself rested on the border of a desert and lush forest. Many called it an oasis in a way because the desert to the south of the town spanned for 100 of miles of nothingness til it reached the ocean. Many adventurers had died from being out there.
Faris stood up and walked slowly to the window looking down at the streets to see little kids playing and mothers hanging up clothes. "Today would be my birthday, just another day, 324 years down, and many to go" Faris mumbled pulling the curtains together sealing the sun's rays out of the room. Faris was an anomaly in many sorts. He was a high elf, so years and days to him just seemed to be the same thing. Time was just something he never really tracked or could for that matter.
Faris snapped his fingers and the lights in the room lit up. Stretching out his arms he groaned in relief as the muscles tensed up and then released in his arms and shoulders. The light illuminated the room fully, Simple room with a one bed a nightstand and a desk on the second floor of his house. All made out of maple wood, it made the room smell amazing and it was simple.
He walked by the desk grabbing his hat placing it on his head, he swept his hair back past his ears showing old scars. His ears were not pointed, they looked human like. In all honesty if you didn't know Faris was an elf you'd think he was human. It was better that way for him. After fixing his hair and slipping on a jacket he pulled open the drawer to the desk. He snapped his fingers again and the drawer filled with jewels and gold. "Wrong drawer?" He said sliding it back shut then walking over to his night stand he snapped his fingers again before pulling the drawer to his nightstand open and it was filled with gold and Jewels as well. "Where did I put it?" He said sitting on the bed tapping his head a few times with his index finger his eyes glazed over. "Find the Ring" he said softly.
After about five minutes his eyes went back to normal and he walked out his bed room pulling it shut. The house itself was clean, Extremely clean and simple looking. Nothing looked out of place or stood out. He walked down a hall his hand on the railing to his stair case. "Open" his voiced echoed throughout the house and a door appeared by the stair case and opened with ease.
The room was filled to the brim with chests and shelves. The chest shut with magical locks; the shelves had items scattered all over them each giving off a magical like aura. "There you are gorgeous" He said walking into the room past the chest and shelves to a single cabinet. As he approached the cabinet his eyes glazed over and his fingertips started to glow different colors of blue and green as he grabbed the handles and pulled it open. The cabinet was empty aside from three things. A picture of Faris with a woman, an Emerald ring with sylvan writing on the inside of the band and a book. Grabbing the ring Faris sighed looking at the picture as he placed the ring on his left index finger, "Just another day without you in the end isn't it?"
After closing the cabinet and getting back into the hall way the door to the room vanished just as it appeared and he made his way down the stairs. He went into his kitchen grabbing a loaf of bread before heading outside eating as he walked. "I wonder if anything interesting is going on in the den today" He said passing the threshold of his house to the outside world.
The children continued to play in front of the house, "This will be fun "Faris said walking along the path from the front door to the street, as soon as he got to the street the little kids in front of him all gasped in surprise before running away to their respectful houses yelling for help. "Mama! That man just showed up out of nowhere, he scared me!" The kids would do this every time Faris would scare them. He looked back to his house and it was a wreck. The house itself looked like it had collapsed on itself. The naked eye wouldn't notice the illusion spell on the house to make it look this way. All those kids saw was a man appearing in front of an abandoned house.
"Off to the den then" He said digging into his jacked pulling out a wooden pipe and lighting it as he walked down the street, after a few turns and a good forty-five minutes he found himself in an alleyway behind the local tavern, "Thief's see no end to the spoils, working is just a toil" He mumbled by the back door to the tavern and another door began to manifest beside it leading him to the basement of the tavern.
"Welcome back Gamble" The soft sultry voice of a waitress greeted him as he made his way to his table in the bar. "Thanks Anita, anything good?" he asked as she placed a bottle on the table and a cup. "Not that I can think off, Just petty things today nothing out of the usual from the guys in here. The boss might have something for you, I'll let her know you're here." Anita said with a smile before leaving him.
