The sun's dying rays have long faded, and as I exit the main doors, I'm greeted by the night's grand spectacle of stars.
My hands are still tingling from the last few bouts I had with Dennis. It's been a long while since I've fought that hard, and for that long. It's a thought that fills me with excitement and dread. I make my way around the dorms to the back garden. I find a secluded area, and wait for the mark to start draining.
I didn't tell Dennis exactly how the mark delivered the backlash nor did he ask but I did tell him it got worse the more I used my magic. The draining causes me extreme pain, and it targets my magic body rather than my physical body, so it's not a pain I can just adapt to, and while it varied it would hurt all the same, no matter what I did.
