" Long live the hegemon" I nearly gaged as I said the words. Our entire school, no the entire country is nothing but a bunch of brain washed minions. Why am I not. For the simple reason that I am not at all as stupid as the rest of them. I have the highest exam grades in the school. Although my being smarter has nothing to do with it. Even the smartest people can be deceived. No I am not brain washed because I know that there was, and could be something better than our beloved hegemony. I have heard the stories, from my mother. Of a country which was altogether better, and more free than any country since, or before its existence. Now no such country has existed for at least two hundred years. Why? because we are not perfect beings in any way, and even the most righteous countries are prone to corruption. What happened was simply the course history decided to take, and would take again. My anti patriotic attitude towards our country is very dangerous, and could lead to severe punishment if discovered. The fact is Karshkanovia is no longer a place of prosperity as it had once been. Now it is a place of starvation, and despair. Children are forced from their families at the age of sixteen to join the guard. The gradual tightening of recourses has led to even the wealthiest families going without. We are constantly terrorized by the peace keepers who would beat even an old man for the smallest offense. Yet we still worship the government like it is our god.
I caught a withering look from Sarah. She hates my guts, what have I done to her? Exist. Everyone at this school hates me, because I am not like them. The bell rings dismissing us for the day, and I breath a sigh of relief. School is nothing short of torture. I grab my bag, and feel a hand push hard on my back, causing me to slam into my desk. I turn, and see of all people William. He is a big kid with a stupid sneer that sits on his face. His minions stand behind him faces upturned in snarls. " Hello" I said in a friendly voice. " Hey joey" He replied in a deep almost growl like voice. " I don't suppose you are inviting me to tea, are you?" I said with a smile.
