Su Li stared at him blankly for a moment, then let out a 'heh heh' of dry laughter twice.
"Mr. Wei, you're really overthinking it," she said.
"If you think I'm doing this because I'm serious about you, then does you not allowing me to see Wei Linfeng and Lu Wei mean that you're serious about me?"
Her counter-question plunged Wei Chengfeng's gaze into sudden darkness, yet he said nothing.
Looking into his eyes, Su Li suddenly felt empty inside.
She knew that the tiny, unspoken hope in her heart was dashed again.
So before Wei Chengfeng could speak, she found an excuse for him herself.
"Actually, I understand. This is a basic flaw of humanity. No matter whether you have feelings for a person or a thing, once you decide it's yours, you develop a strong possessive desire."
"You understand?"
Su Li nodded, "I understand."
She patted his hand and said, "So now we're even."
Wei Chengfeng's gaze fell on her hand, then back to her face, "Even... Your thoughts are really naïve."
