But she didn't leave; instead, she waited quietly outside the hospital for Shi Annuo.
Finally, as the sun rose the next day, Shi Annuo walked out of the hospital and, upon seeing Wen Zhaozhao still waiting outside, his expression instantly turned cold. "Why are you still here? Shouldn't you have gone home by now?"
"I was waiting for you!" Wen Zhaozhao said softly.
Such a simple set of words, yet they made Shi Annuo's heart suddenly ache, and his eyes and nose felt incredibly sour.
Instinctively reaching out, Shi Annuo pulled Wen Zhaozhao tightly into his embrace. "Let's go home!"
As their bodies pressed close together, the warm and familiar scent lingered around his nose, and Wen Zhaozhao snuggled greedily into his arms. "Is she doing okay?"
"Mmm," Shi Annuo replied faintly, unwilling to elaborate, not wanting Wen Zhaozhao to overthink it. He just took her hand to catch a ride, then headed home.
