King Yariv gritted his teeth as he watched his men around him slowly being slaughtered by the enemy Roman army. His elite guards surrounding him gripped their massive halberds tightly in their hands as they saw the battle continue to turn towards their demise with every a few seconds another one of their comrades being slain.
"Damn Roman bastards! You will fall at the end of my blade!" Yelled King Yariv as saliva flew from his furiously shouting mouth.
After a few minutes King Yariv's few remaining men were slain while leaving only himself and his elite guard to remain standing. The bulging veins on his red face continued to squirm with his heart's pulse caused to race by his burning wrath and hate towards the Roman Empire.
Soon the rest of the Roman army encircled him and his guards to entrap them with nowhere to escape. King Yariv brandished his sword and shouted to boost the spirits of his solely remaining guards.
"So be it! I'll take any one of you Roman bastards to the underworld along with me!" Yelled King Yariv with his elite guards' battle cries following.
Suddenly, part of the Roman army's encirclement parted to reveal the Roman commander and the young supposed mercenary they had hired.
The Roman commander brandished his longsword towards the small group of remaining Glecians with lightning crackling around the blade's edge.
The young mercenary simply followed beside him while flicking his blood drenched blade towards the ground, leaving a large stain of blood next to his feet as his cruel red eyes glinted with a look of greed.
"Treacherous useless mercenaries! Just a bunch of money grubbing shits!" Yelled the failed King as he pointed his blade towards the young mercenary who supposedly betrayed them.
'He thinks I'm one of his hired mercenaries... What a dumbass!' Thought Kellen as he chuckled to himself while following the commander towards the doomed group of men.
"Just give up Yariv! Or do you want us "farmers" to plough your head in too!" Exclaimed the Roman commander as he ridiculed the failed King.
"Bastard Romans! Die you Roman dogs!"
The eight elite guards rushed towards the two approaching enemies at their King's command, while brandishing their massive halberds in front of them to impale the Roman commander and mercenary.
"Give them death kid!" Shouted the Roman commander as he sliced his sword through the air in front of him, which released multiple strikes of electricity towards the elite guards.
Branching streams of lightning hit a few of the guards and paused their approach, but left three untouched and allowed them to continue their charge.
Kellen ran past the Roman commander to intercept the remaining guards while summoning his demon energy to begin circulating through his blood and activated Soul Sensing.
The three guards untouched by the lighting continued rushing forwards towards Kellen's figure with the pointed steel tips of the halberds jutting out to impale their opponent. However, as the halberds raced forward to impale the young mercenary's figure, their target suddenly vanished, while the elite guard on the side fell to his knees.
He felt the side of his neck with his hand and then brought it before his face in dismay, as he stared at his blood stained hand before collapsing to the ground while the slash on his neck bled out.
The other elite guards quickly glance around their surroundings to locate their target but soon only one was remaining as a longsword erupted from the chest of one of them. The remaining guard quickly turned around to see the young mercenary stepping on his comrade's back to remove his longsword.
The remaining elite guard quickly spun the halberd in his hands towards the mercenary while his sword was still stuck inside the guard's back. The elite guard smirked as he slashed the blade of his halberd towards the upper part of the mercenary's body thinking he finally got him, but instead the mercenary let go of the longsword and slid towards him underneath the slashing halberd's trajectory.
"Close..." Said Kellen to the remaining guard before summoning some demonic energy into his hand while jumping upwards and piercing the man's exposed neck.
The halberd in the guard's hands fell to the ground along with his lifeless body as Kellen flicked his hand towards the ground creating another blood stain.
He glanced over to the side to check on the commander's situation but his concern was unneeded as he saw the other guards' charred remains.
'Seems like he has everything under control over there...' Thought Kellen as he turned around and retrieved the longsword from his previous fallen opponent.
"You... You! Bastard Romans!" Yelled the now lone King Yariv with his sword pointed towards them in his shaking hands.
Kellen only shook his head at the failed King's weak threats and began to approach him with his retrieved blade, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"We don't need to kill him yet. We'll just tie him up and bring him back with us as a war prisoner. The higher-ups like to hold special public executions for subjugated Kings." Said the Roman commander from Kellen's side as he motioned towards a few of the soldiers surrounding them to do as he just said.
"What now?" Asked Kellen as he turned away from the miserable King and looked towards the Roman commander.
"Now we head over to the Glacial Kingdom to announce the success of our subjugation and then finally head back home. I'm sure you will be rewarded for your efforts here and we all appreciate it, so if you don't mind you can just tag along with us." Replied the Roman commander as he called over a young soldier that seemed to be two years younger than Kellen after receiving a nod of acceptance.
"Take our friend here back to camp and treat him well! We will begin our departure for the Glacial Kingdom soon!"
"Yes sir!" Replied the young soldier as he rushed towards Kellen and bowed his head slightly in respect and as thanks before leading him to their encampment.
The Roman camp had many tents with a large red one in the center which Kellen assumed was for the commander and war meetings. A bunch of soldiers could be see rushing back and forth between the tents as they carried and loaded different equipment into some large carts and carriages.
'Looks like we will be heading out soon like the commander said.' Thought Kellen as he followed the young soldier to a medium sized tent besides the massive one in the center.
"Please rest here while we finish packing the transports sir." Said the young Roman soldier before departing.
Kellen walked over to a chair next to a small wooden table holding a few different kinds of fruits and decided to relax while he waited.
'Hm... The Glacial Kingdom... Maybe I can get some information there regarding the Laboratory Romans' whereabouts...' He thought as he munched on a few of the fruits.
After a couple minutes passed Kellen's curiosity for the Roman Empire got the better of him and he exited his tent.
'Some information about this "Roman Empire" would probably be contained in this tent right?' Thought Kellen as he looked around to make sure he wasn't being watched.
The soldiers around him were still busily packing the tents and loading the carriages and paid him no heed as he sneakily ducked into the massive red tent next to his.
The inside of the massive tent seemed to have two big rooms. One held a massive table in the center with different maps strewn across its surface, while the other room had a bed and some cabinets. Kellen guessed the room with the table was for war meetings while the other was a sleeping quarters for the commander.
'Let me take a look at these...'
Kellen walked over to the large table and studied the different maps. Apparently he was currently on the southern border of the Roman Empire that they shared with the Glacial Kingdom. He expanded his view over the map to try and locate the Myria Kingdom but unfortunately he did not know of even its general location.
There were many names of different kingdoms all over the map but Kellen still was unable to locate the Kingdom responsible for his summon.
"Old man! Where is the Myria Kingdom supposed to be located?" Asked Kellen as he continued to scan over the map again.
"Hm... If my memory serves me correct, it should be located between the Zerian and Ilyeseon Kingdoms in the center of the human continents." Replied Osiris.
"What? But the majority of the center of the continent is territory of the Roman Empire!" Said Kellen in dismay.
"We still are unsure of how long we were away, so it shouldn't be impossible for a Kingdom or even a "Roman Empire" to surface after even a couple hundred years..." Said Osiris in an apologetic voice.
"Whatever, I'll just have to ask the commander if he knows anything about it..." Said Kellen dejectedly as he turned to exit the tent after studying the maps some more and finding nothing else of interest within the tent.
'If the Myria Kingdom no longer exists... Then what about the lives of the Laboratory Romans?' Thought Kellen as he exited the tent and sat in the grass outside his tent to watch the soldiers continue their packing and loading.
