School. Is. Absolute. Hell. I'm not joking. How am I supposed to remember this stuff? Math, French, Language Arts, Science, Geography, History, and Religion? Math, Language Arts, Science I understand. But do I need to know who was the first person who knew how to make fire? Or the first person who signed the first Treaty? Also, what is a Treaty? Not to forget but that First War happened at the Nation of Etharia. Why do I need to know this stuff? Glancing at Gunnar I see him just skimming through the homework, or rather pretending to skim through homework while his mind was elsewhere. I wish that my mind could wander so easily.
However, I have not been gifted that divine power. Multitasking was also Gunnars strong point. He could be reading, playing video games and even do homework at the same time. But he's too laid back to care for anything, He even admitted that if his home was gonna burn he would just walk away saying
"Eh, not my fault,"
I need to focus now this homework is stressing me out. The period dragged on to the next. Science. A subject which I don't understand. This time, the teacher decided to show us how Science relates to everything by asking us why our dream job was. Naturally, most people said they were going to aim to be a Legend or a Hero. Finally, it was time for me to say my dream.
"To be honest I think that," I start
"That you're stupid?" snickered a fellow class-member
"That Legends are overrated," I continue
Outrageous gasps were heard through the classroom. Someone insulting the highest class in Strathclyde? It was unheard of.
"So I would like to be a Scouter,"
Shouts of outrage rebounded through the classroom.
"Are you high?" shouted a faceless classmate.
Shouts of annoyance and anger coursed through the room. They all shared the same opinion Legends were NOT overrated!
"Why are you guys so angry?" spoke up Gunnar "I mean it's his opinion, why are you so mad about that?"
"What would you like to be when you grow up then,"
"Support,"
"That's even worse!"
"It's the least action job, that pays for a lot,"
"So your fucking lazy?"
"Yeah, rather not die, thank you very much,"
"Fair enough,"
We all settled down soon enough while some glared at me. Soon enough it was lunch and as usual, I sat with Gunnar.
"Is it true?" I asked
"Hmmmm?"
"That you want to be a Support?"
"Yep! No work and good pay!"
"You're too lazy,"
Suddenly an apple was thrown towards Gunnar. He simply just tilted his head to let the projectile sail past him.
"You're gonna have to do better than that if you want to hit me…" he states without even looking up.
More apples flew towards him, and he just dodged all of them once more. This time, however, one hidden apple was close to hitting his face. Swiftly he caught the apple and threw it back at the person. It hit his temporary rival on the back of the head.
"Man you all have lousy throws," he says casually "Well, I need to go to the washroom,"
And so he left me alone with a bunch of angry people. Let's note the fact that Gunnar was my friend, and he just made a bunch of enemies in like half a minute. Didn't help that I had insulted most of their idols. So those people decided that I would be their next victim.
So that was the end of how my and Ryann fought. Or rather the events that led up to it. And I had to retell that entire story in my point of view. After that 'interview' I headed back home. Suddenly a feeling of dread coursed through me. I stumbled for a minute before regaining my senses.
"Somethings wrong" I thought "better hurry home"
I shouldn't have. I wasted no time and rushed back home. The two guards barring the way into the main compound had their throats slit. Fearing the worst I bolted into my house, passing multiple dead bodies. I forced my way through the door of my house and saw both my parents on the floor. A scream pierced through the deathly silence. It sounded like Kirby! Shit! I bounded over the stairs and burst into my baby's sister's room. Two men wearing masks were standing over a baby's body. Kirby's to be exact.
