As I went home I became sad, my head was crowded with many negative thoughts that did not want to leave me alone and at a certain point tears streamed down my face, I did not understand why. I stopped for a moment and took courage. I inhaled and exhaled deeply, wiped away my tears. I was now far from the stable and no one had seen me. I entered the garden and went in the direction of the stairs.
"Caught, where were you?" Suddenly I heard Amdir's voice and I fluttered with fright.
"Sssh ... Be quiet!" I protested.
"Have you been crying? Your eyes are red and swollen." He asked me from the balcony of his room which was on the right, while mine was on the left of the stairs.
"Not at all, warriors never cry. I've read too much." I answered harshly.
"Mmm ... Let's meet in the corridor. And anyway you haven't answered my question yet."
"Amdir I'll explain everything to you tomorrow morning, I want to go to sleep. See you tomorrow." I cut it short and he greeted me.
I didn't want to tell him that I had gone to Fervus. I retired to my room. Azzurra hadn't noticed anything and I went to sleep.
A few hours later ...
"Hey .... Wake up .... Aisaka ...."
I woke up suddenly, my body shot forward, I found myself sitting in my bed. The long tousled locks veiled my sleepy gaze, I contemplated left and right, but in front of me, there was only the unmistakable joker face of Amdir who didn't know whether to keep from laughing. In response, I glared at him, he began to sweat and suddenly became serious. He knew very well that it was better not to make me angry because long ago he paid at his expense, in fact, he remembered very well that time I attacked him running around his room with a wooden sword, at a certain point he tripped and ended up with his back to the wall and at that moment I thought it was mine and I beat him. You may wonder why I was so mad at him, well, he thought I was in love with Fervus and teased me right in front of him, but it really wasn't true at all.
"Come on, get up, don't you want to see Alakeia and Fervus leave?" Azzurra tugged at me.
"Mmm ... No, you go, soon I have to go to the library the half-moon four-eye is waiting for me." I groaned.
"Mmm ... Ok, but you won't give me a drink. See you at the end of the lessons. Hi Aisakina." Amdir greeted me with his hand and went out with my sister, closing the bedroom door.
I snorted and threw myself dead weight with my arms outstretched on the bed. I silently contemplated the wooden ceiling for several minutes. A nice day of hard study was waiting for me.
As soon as Amdir closed the door he exchanged a worried look with my sister.
"Come on, let's go I don't want to be late, I want to bring some flowers to Alakeia and Fervus for the departure". Azzurra said, tugging at him and running out of breath to the last flight of stairs.
Suddenly he stopped and turned in the direction of the young prince who had remained dumbfounded.
"So ??! Amdir ???" She continued with an expression that was anything but happy, she was quite annoyed. Hearing those words, after a while he decided to follow her.
"Okay, just stop sulking." He answered him reaching her and placed his hand on her head and she smiled in response.
Arriving at the meeting point, the king and queen were also present. It was customary to pay homage to the knights before their departure with flowers, as the old legends said that they would find their way home even if they lost their way back. Azzurra gave her flowers and they thanked her. Alakeia and Fervus mounted their steeds, exchanged a fleeting glance, nodded, immediately looked at the king bowed their heads, it was then that they spurred the horses and left.
"Don't worry they will be back soon, you don't have to fear the flowers will bring them back home." The king broke the silence when he saw his son and Azzurra look sadly at the smaller and smaller figures of the guards.
In the end, I got up listlessly I was always wearing the purple nightgown that matched very well with my eyes. I decided to change and put on my usual clothes. Before going to Samir's, I looked out the window to admire the morning view, it was seven in the morning and the sun had already risen for an hour. Dew wet the grass, the air was fresh, light and pure. In the distance, I could see the figures of Alakeia and Fervus riding off their beloved steeds. I watched them until they disappeared over the horizon. A feeling of worry reprise my chest. Yes, I admit for the first time I had a damn fear, yet so many times the royal guards had gone out on an expedition, but I could not put my heart in peace. I shook my head and slapped my face.
"But what am I thinking? They are the strongest guards. What do I have to be afraid of? They will be back soon and I will certainly not notice." I thought.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes and encouraged myself to go to class. I took the books from the desk, walked to my bedroom door and went out along the corridor that led to the library. I found Samir sitting reading that huge book of his. I did not disturb his reading, went to the usual table yesterday and continued my study. Honestly, at first, I found the book I was reading quite boring, it talked about the history of the world, the various races, peoples, valiant battles, kings and queens.
"Bla bla bla ... how many words ... how many dates .... how boring is this reading ..." I thought, snorting.
At a certain point, the four-eyed rose and began to walk around the room, still with his usual book in his hands. I hadn't really noticed a thing he was up to, but at a certain point I heard a thud coming from the table that made me jump and a leaf of fresh air freeze my arms.
