Chapter 5 - Chapter 005 | The last Task

I am now in the building. But it didn't seem like a house to me, the expensive carpet and the old green walls remind me more of an old villa. I could see well, but the light from the oil lamps on the walls was dark, warm and rather dark. I walked down a long corridor, I didn't know how long it was as I couldn't see any farther than 5 meters. This house is so huge, how will I ever find the landlord in this labyrinth? A snob like him must surely have a kitchen, a bathroom or something somewhere. Out of frustration and desperation, I opened one of the doors in the hallway.

The room was empty. No window, no carpet, nothing. I was only a little surprised. Maybe he hadn't had a use for this room yet. So I went to the next door and opened it slowly and carefully. HUH ?!

This room was empty too, just a dark room made of wood and stone. In a rage, I opened one door after the other, nothing, nothing, nothing again!!!

After opening an amount of 50 doors, I stopped. Now I have to switch on my gray matter. Why does the landlord have so many empty spaces?

1. To hide from attackers, he only lives in one of these rooms or even somewhere in a hidden room.

2. He doesn't live in this house at all but somewhere else.

I walked a few more meters down the corridor until something finally changed. The corridor was divided into 2 new corridors. The light here was stronger, I could see how these corridors were again divided into two new corridors. I must not act recklessly now. I mean, what is the chance that these hallways are riddled with traps? My theory that the landlord is hiding here seems to be true. Although it is very strange that the landlord, this ruthless bastard, should take such precautions with a clan as weak as ours, he may also defend himself against opponents from other clans.

But how do I find the right lane? If my theory is correct, his room should be at the end of these corridors. In this room everything would be given that somebody needs to live. A bed, food rations and .........and air!

You must have air in a dungeon like this. The landlord will certainly have a window or a pipe which can offer him air. I took a wooden strap from one of the walls, wrapped it with bandages, which I had taken as a precaution, and lit it with one of the faintly glowing kerosene lamps that hung here.
