Coming to a stop in front of the school gates, I took a good look at my school.
The big shiny sign spellt Granite Bay High School.
The whole building is painted in our schools varsity colors, blue and yellow.
The school is fairly new. So it's safe to say that most desks have yet to be initiated with first chewing gum. The girls restroom walls were clean, but that was probably due to the fact that everyone in this school is plain, including me.
Girls didn't really have anyone to fantasize about.
A rough shove on the shoulder snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Oh sorry Rory, didn't see you there. I mean you're just in the middle of the way, looking at nothing in particular like a creep. You've been spacing out for like, two hours! How many times do I have to tell you? What if it happens to you in the middle of the street?!" she said with exaggerated hand gestures.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet my best friend Eleanor Davies.
I don't know how someone can have so much energy at 7 in the morning.
Considering that she has a two year old daughter at home, l would expect her to be a walking zombie with huge bags under her eyes and dirty clothes.
But no.
She's 19, and even though we are 2 years apart, I wouldn't want anyone else by my side but her.
I've always looked up to her. She got pregnant by the man she claimed to be the one.
Upon finding out she was pregnant, her mother kicked her out of the house without money.
Being the strong woman she is, she found a job at a Bakery near the school, the old owner was like a mom to the both of us.
After Aisha was born, I was there to help out whenever I could, along with my dad.
"Hello to you too, always nice to see you" I greeted sarcastically.
"I know, I know. I'm just lovely " she says flipping her blond hair over her shoulders. Over dramatically, might I add.
"Whatever, let's go. I don't have time for this"
Dragging her by the arm, we entered the building.
The hallway was filled with the usual chatter. People were at their lockers chatting with their respectives groups of friends.
Luckily for Nora, her locker was basically in the centre of the school, it was neaar all of her classes and most importantly, the cafeteria. Mine, on the other hand, was on the second floor, at the far back, where some classrooms were being finished. I always had to come early to be on time.
Stopping in front of Nora's locker, she turned to face me with a sad look.
"Unfortunately, this is my stop"
" Don't be so dramatic, we'll still see eachother at lunch" for some reason we didn't have any classes together this year.
" I'm still on the opinion that Ms. Miller set us up, that old bat has always hated us" she said glaring into the distance, her voice dripping with venom. These are the times when I really fear for my safety. To be fair, we both knew deep down that we were far from behaving like good students should.
"And as if that wasn't enough, I have her first thing on monday for the rest of the year, she's a sadist!" she continued with her rant.
"Trust me, you wouldn't like to be in my place right now" that immediately silenced her.
"No one can be worse than the witch herself" she said with cockyness.
"Not even Coach Schmidt?"
"Oh boy"
