First, her parents hadn't come home from their trip to Spain two months ago. A month later, her younger brother Jack disappeared. There was nowhere for her to go to. The electricity had ran out a long time ago and lines were down. No one lived near them as her parents liked the quiet, choosing to live next to a glistening lake surrounded by dark oak trees. Nestling at the windowsill, Luna stared at the lake, the moonlight dancing on its calm waters. She liked the moonlight. It had a pulsing energy to it and always mesmerised her when watching it. Then, she heard heavy footsteps. It definitely wasn't Jack or her parents. Dashing into one of the kitchen cupboards, she cursed under her breath. She had forgotten to lock the front door.
"Little girl, little girl. Where are you?" a high pitched voice rang across the room. Silence. "Fine let's make this easier. What if I tell you that I have your little brother and your mommy and daddy?"
Luna gasped.
"Aah so I know you're somewhere here. If my senses are correct, you're hiding in the kitchen cupboard. You can't hide from me little fledgling.
Stepping out of the cupboard, Luna demanded, "What do you want from me?"
Standing in front of her was a magnificent, tall lady. She had striking, black hair trailing down her shoulders and eyes like a cat's. She wore an elaborate, black dress with a bow and arrows strapped at her back. Along her waist was a belt holding a knife and a gun. But something about the way she carried herself or how she looked at Luna gave her an air of importance.
Laughing, she grinned. "Introductions, introductions. My name is Camille. I've come to take you on a journey to a new dimension.
"What did you do to my family? Leave them alone!"
"No harm will be done to them if you follow me. They will return back to their normal, boring lives but they won't remember you at all."
"Why are you doing this?" Luna asked incredulously. "You don't even know who I am."
"Really, did you know that I've been watching you ever since you were born? I knew you were special, the girl that the ancient prophecy spoke of. I just needed to wait for you to become a strong, young woman.
"You know what? You're crazy. Just get out of MY HOUSE!" Luna shouted.
Sighing, Camille looked at her sadly and said, "I should have known that this would be your reaction. I'm sorry."
With speed that was impossible for any human being, she grabbed her knife and plunged it into Luna's heart.
