Chapter 11
The next morning Drake had an audience with the envoy of the witches. The envoy was a middle aged witch with warm hazel eyes and red hair. She was giving of the vibes of being a very friendly person but this is what irked Drake the most about her. Witches are curious creatures, they defies the law of nature with their powers and has absolutely no interest in any other thing except their own business. Thus assuming a witch to be friendly is like hoping for your own downfall.
"I, Carol Arbeit greets the alpha of the crimson moon." Said Carol with her head bowed a little.
"Please raise your head, Witch Arbeit. It is an honor to have a witch like you visit our pack." said Drake with a hidden sarcasm in his voice.
Carol flinched at his reply because she knew that Drake was pointing to the fact that the witches were mingling with the rouges without informing the packs around them. It was common sense or should we say a protocol for any witch to inform the alphas before tending or helping the rouges. But by not following this basic requirement, the witches have proven themselves suspicious to not only the crimson moon but to the other packs as well.
"…We are sent by the 32nd magus of our coven for the regular volunteer work of this year. It's just we encountered some wolves before arriving at our destination and ended up tending them before following the protocol and for that, not just me but all my fellow sisters are deeply apologetic." Said Carol with a very sincere voice.
"As long as you don't make the same mistake twice, I am willing to overlook it just this once." Said Drake.
Hearing that Carol felt a weight lifted from her shoulders because the matter got resolved peacefully.
"You have my gratitude, Alpha. And now that this matter has been settled we would also like to perform the volunteer work in the pack as well. Only if you allow us to." Smiled Carol brightly.
" …In the pack?. I don't see the need to put your effort in the pack as we take care of our people very well but I will ask my beta to announce it to the pack about your proposal." Replied Drake with a big smile.
"…Yes, Alpha."
"Then I would not take anymore of your time and will let you return to your noble work."
"Yes Alpha. Thank you for your time." Bowed Carol again with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
As Carol left. Edward came forward from his position behind Drake.
"She is suspicious." Said Edward .
"She is indeed."
"Overlooking the protocol just because she came across some injured rouges… I mean those weren't even that hurt and there was no way that it could be called an emergency. She is totally looking down on us, Alpha."
"Or it actually was an emergency but to the witches , not to the rouges." Said Drake while leaning back on his chair.
"..huh?"
"They are hiding something and this "Witch Carol", I don't believe in her at all. I bet she has been uttering nothing but nonsense since she has entered our pack. She even dares to lie to an alpha."
"..I will put on surveillance on the envoys."
"Don't let them out of your sight and don't let them wander around the third basement."
"Yes, alpha."
Meanwhile with Ancia
Ancia and Joshua are walking to an abandoned construction site. They left as soon as the dawn broke this morning. This construction site was abandoned seven month ago without any reason. In the eyes of humans, it looked like a failed project but for the supernatural that wasn't true at all. The construction site was at a prime location, not for the business but for the sacred and unsacred rituals. It was at the middle of the continent and was at the perfect place to open a portal of the other worlds. The other worlds were the divine realm and the underworld. Most supernatural, especially the wizards and witches would've killed to buy this location but unfortunately it was under the government jurisdiction, thus, can't be bought. But now it is nothing more than an abandoned site. You guessed it right. It's the work of fellow supernatural who didn't want to let go of this land.
"This place is perfect." Said Joshua while looking around.
"…" Ancia remained silent with a serious look on her face.
"What is it? My lovely sister."
"..nothing. It just reminds me of that place."
"...If you want I can destroy this land for you." Said Joshua without looking away from her face.
"Let it be. They can't do anything big here either way."
"Huh?"
"The spirits have left this place already. "
"So you mean to say that.."
"that he can't be summoned here."
"…..What the f**! I have travelled from all the way from Egypt for this! I had finally found a juicy prey there but I let go of him because of…this!"
Hearing this Ancia rolled her eyes.
"But this place can still be useful for the ritual."
"…huh? You just said that he can't be summoned here and now you are saying that this place will do."
"This is still the center. And can help in performing most of the lower tier rituals but with an exception of one."
"That is ?"
"….The sacrificial substitution ritual."
"…Do they.."
"I think the witches are going to summon him by sacrificing an equally tainted entity…In other words,… I think they are going to sacrifice me here."
