Chapter 3
The next morning Drake and Edward finished all their duties in the pack and left for their business meeting in the human world.
It was just a little after 01:30 pm that they were finally free of their work. As usual the meeting and deal both were a success and they both decide to visit Dylancey's mate, the Dhampir. Dylancey's mate works in a restaurant near the boutique where she went to buy her wedding dress.
The moment Drake and Edward entered the restaurant almost all the women became enchanted and why won't they not be… After all they both were the epitome of perfection .
On one hand Edward had that cheerful and sunny boy aura with his 6'2 height and slender body. Edward is more on the lean side but with muscles that speak for themselves and with a white shirt matched with dark jeans , he was looking like an angel. On the other hand , Drake was the opposite with a slightly shorter height than Edward, he was 6'1 but with well toned muscles. Anybody can tell that those muscles are not developed in just a day or month but with years of dedication. Drake's black hair in contrast to his fair skin was giving him a complexion of that of a celestial being. Drake had a black shirt with a suitable vest on but boy do he look juicy.. Hell yea…! With a subtle smile Edward stole all the women's hearts in the store but more than that what was more noticeable was the demigod charm of Drake. Drake had his expressionless face but contrary to being seen grumpy it was more of a face that reminds everyone of a well painted portrait.
They both take seats near the window and start looking for the Dhampir among all the staff of the restaurant.
The problem that arose was something that both Edward and Drake didn't consider before coming inside and it was..... They forgot to ask the name of the Dhampir. Because Dylancey kept on calling him as her "mate" , Drake forgot to ask for his name and since Dylancey doesn't know that they are visiting the restaurant to spyi….checking on the Dhampir, they can't call to ask her.
Drake starts to try to smell and distinguish all the scents of the people present in the restaurant but they were all humans. A dhampir has the same scent as the vampire so they thought that they would be able to find him this way but it was all for knot. Drake sighed and nearly gave up but suddenly a sweet aroma hit him out of the blue.
It was a very faint scent but smells like that of the soil after the rain . It made him feel in daze and Drake felt as if he was finally away from all his worries , sadness and every negative depressing emotion. On the other hand, Edward had ordered almost half the menu for their lunch, being a werewolf makes them eat more than a human but being a high rank wolf like an alpha ,beta or gamma turns them into a food monster.
Drake had his eyes closed and he was focusing on the source of the scent when suddenly a very handsome blonde man came out with their order. It was the chef and Dylancey's mate, the Dhampir. Edward was surprised to see that her mate was not the waiter but a very young looking chef with a dazzling smile.
"Hello there, I am Henry and i am your chef today. Please do enjoy your food and it will be on house because we are soon to be friends." exclaimed Henry. Edward could feel the same vibes as himself in him because Henry also seemed as easy going as Edward but the next moment they heard a low growl which not only alerted Edward for possible danger but made the poor Dhampir panic a little.
Drake, no Maximus was surfacing in his eyes. Edward was confused as to what triggered it because he couldn't seem to find any danger around them .
"Alpha…. Is something the matter?" asked Edward very cautiously . Drake turned to him and whispered only one word .
"MATE…"
Edward was surprised...No, that would be an understatement. Edward was shocked , pure shock was evident on his face because what are the chances that his Alpha would find his mate literally in the same place as his former fiancee.
Maximus was growling low but was anxious. He doesn't want to scare all the humans present in the restaurant and especially not his mate who is definitely going to be a human because he couldn't smell any other supernatural being than Edward, Henry and himself. On the other hand, Edward was freaking out. If his alpha were to go all werewolf here… forget the vampires who his alpha always complaints about because of the secrecy and privacy, his own alpha would become the real threat himself and might be abducted and experimented as a test subject in Area 51.
And the next moment Drake was back to normal. Edward and Henry were finally relieved but confused as to what happened just now.
Drake started looking around and said
"I can't smell her… I can't smell her anymore. Where the hell ...what the hell just happened!"
While Drake was again trying to smell her, for some reason Edward started doing the same even though there was no way that Edward would be able to find someone else's mate by smell.. The poor beta still tried to show his support. Now both of their senses became 10 times sharper and suddenly they heard a voice of a bell and again Drake was able to smell his mate...his Luna.
"Mate!" he said and turned his face towards the window on his side but there was nobody there.
All they could see was a flower shop across the street where three high school girls were standing. They looked about 15-16 years old and Edward's face paled .
"Isn't it illegal to date an underaged girl?" thought Edward and he took a glance at his Alpha who had his complete attention on the shop across the street.
"She's inside…" said Drake while Edward registered his words ,he realized that his luna is not a high school girl (thankfully) but someone who is currently inside the shop.
And there was again the sound of the bell…. Edward followed his alpha's gaze and saw the door of the flower shop's slowly opening and at that time Edward realized that the sound of the bell was the one that was attached to the door and this was the reason why his alpha were having a hard time finding his mate because the shop was across the street and as the door closes the scent of his luna disappears altogether.
The next moment a woman with long ebony dark hair steps outside the shop with a gentle smile and greets the high school girls.
Edward felt the wind move beside him and his alpha disappeared. Edward was confused as to where he went and then at the speed of lightning his head turned to the direction of the shop. Apparently his dangerous and scary macho alpha jumped by the window to run to his mate as a love sick puppy.
While Edward was registering all the events. Henry's voice called out
"You do need to pay your bill before you decide to follow your friend out."
And for the first time in life our poor Edward had to leave without eating anything with a heart full of anxiousness and an empty pocket along with his empty tummy.
