"Bubble Gun!"
Maeve dashed towards Maya, but this time, since her speed was considerably slower, Maya didn't panic and cast a spell.
Bubble Gun.
Basic Water Spell.
Shoot a water bubble bullet at the opponent. Though the damage caused is lower than average basic spells, the spell casting time is considerably low (almost instant).
Maya wasn't known as the best young mage in the city without a reason, her control over the spell was frighteningly good. Though the damage of the spell she cast was low, she never intended to do damage with this spell.
She has been using this trick for a while now. Her main motive behind the spell is to restrict Maeve's movements and to prevent her from arriving near her. This trick worked well in the past as most of the mages are unable to avoid the water bubble due to its high speed neither were they able to cast any counterspell. This forced the mage to face the spell physically but that's where the trick is.
Though the damage is low, with her exceptional control, Maya bursts the bubble right in front of the opponent's eyes, forcing him to close his eyes for a good second, though it may sound little, in a battle, 1 second was more than enough to decide the victor.
Maya uses this one second to get a lead and casts a bigger spell to end a fight with a fabulous and quick win. Truly a miraculous battle technique.
Of course, this all works against some normal opponents, but against Maeve, you might have a higher chance of falling from the huge hill and survive rather than this little trick working against her.
Without even stopping her advance, Maeve quickly sidestepped and dodged the bubble and continued.
Of course, Maya wasn't weak either, unfazed by the fact that her attack didn't work, Maya raised her hand and,
"Water Bubble!"
She cast the same spell again, but this time, rather than a single bubble before, she cast five bubbles simultaneously. The five bubbles shot towards Maeve, one targeting her face while the others restricting her to dodge.
'Well, she is a lot better than other disciples in this city. I'll give her that.'
Seeing from the small arch on Ace's lips, even he seemed a little impressed by the young mage.
Maeve, on the other hand, seemed unfazed as she continued her advance. Within a tenth of a second, the bubble neared Maeve, who stabbed her sword at the one who was targeting her.
With a plop, the bubble burst, but then something happened.
The water that should have fallen on the ground avoided the sword and shot towards Maeve nimbly.
With the distance this close, anyone would have troubles avoiding the attack but Maeve could have, if not for the fact that there were other bubbles that completely blocks any attempts of dodging the attack.
With that, Maeve quickly closed her eyelids to avoid the water entering her eyes.
You are better than I thought.
With that thought in her mind, Maeve wiped the water from her face and glanced at Maya, who was busy casting an intermediate tire spell.
Hmm, she underestimated her.
Ace mumbled inwardly.
Of course, there was no way this little trick would have worked if not for Maeve underestimating Maya but, that doesn't change the fact that she was able to attack the Dark Puppeteer. A feat worth flaunting over.
"Of Goddess of Water,
Your gentleness is surpassed by none,
Help me face this ordeal,
Water Cannon!"
Using the time she gained, Maya quickly cast an intermediate-tier spell to end the fight.
Water Cannon.
Intermediate Water Spell.
Shoots a big ball of water at a speed so high that it feels like a cannon shot. One of the highest damaging intermediate water spells. Overcome any ordeal with a cannon shot!
Of course, this time, Maeve didn't underestimate the strength of the spell and swung her sword before she continued her advance.
Maya frowned at the sight of Maeve running towards her and her water cannon, unable to understand what she was thinking.
She is definitely not stupid enough to just charge at a high damage spell for nothing… just what is she thinking?
Feeling something was wrong, Maya raised her hand and,
"Of Goddess of Water,
Your gentleness is surpassed by none,
Help me face this ordeal,
Water Cannon!"
Cast another water cannon to end things thoroughly. Though she will lose her ability to control the first water cannon, she didn't care. Water cannon was too fast for her to control them from this far anyway. She wasn't afraid of Maeve dying since she knew that Ace would interfere as soon as he feels that Maeve is in danger.
She then glanced at Maeve who was still rushing towards her, right now, the difference between her first cannonball and Maeve was around 5 meters.
This… would definitely be painful…
Though she didn't know what Maeve was planning, she was pretty sure she would be hit by the water cannon and the experience won't be a good one, but suddenly, just before the water cannon and Maeve were about the collide, something happened.
To her shock, the water cannon split into two parts, allowing Maeve to pass through it without any effort. Not only that, even the second water cannon she shot faced the same fate of splitting up even before it could reach 10 meters close to Maeve.
Still, in a daze, Maya felt a familiar touch.
Coming out of her reverie, she noticed Maeve standing right before her, with her wooden sword placed on her neck. Other than the fact that her face was a little wet, there were absolutely no signs that this woman just fought a battle.
"Haaaahhh~" With a long sigh, Maeve smirked.
"If it isn't the same familiar position?"
