Lucky huh… We'll see about that…
These words were echoing inside Elizabeth's mind as she witnessed the events rolling in front of her eyes.
*Bam*
Score: 3-0
The match which she thought would be one-sided, was, in fact, one-sided, the only difference being that they were the ones who were completely unmatched by these two monsters in front of them.
*Whoosh*
*Bam*
Score: 4-0
These two… their jumps, it looked like they were flying in the sky, their smashes, they were powerful enough to hurt a strong warrior, Elizabeth and Antony were being destroyed in the match.
And that smirk… that smirk which was glued on Maeve's mouth and that pitying expression on Ace's face… Elizabeth couldn't help but feel more and more inferior as she remembers those words.
Lucky huh… We'll see about that…
That smirk that she had on her face, that teasing expression, it was clear that that girl knew perfectly well that Elizabeth's team doesn't stand a chance.
*Whoosh*
*Bam*
Score: 5-0
They scored.
Again.
And again.
Without stopping.
It looked like Elizabeth and Antony were the two dolls playing just like Ace and Maeve want them to. Like their sole purpose was to just pass the ball to Ace and Maeve's court only to receive another smash which passes right through them without them even realizing.
*Whoosh*
Score: 6-0
"Hahahaha! Papa! You are doing great! Keep it up!"
And that little girl who was cheering for these two monsters was making it even worse… Every cheer from her mouth causes the strength behind the smash to increase drastically, making it life-threatening.
Just a while ago the ball passed just an inch away from Elizabeth's head, making her sweat buckets. She was so sure that she just saw her whole life within that one second.
She was alarmed… she was afraid… but most importantly…
She was enraged…
She was a student of the Royal Academy.
The Academy where the best of the best come to learn…
She was guaranteed to have a bright future, but right now… she was being destroyed by an unknown couple… no, the man wasn't even trying that hard… it was solely that girl, Maeve… who flew into the sky and glanced at her, before...
*Bam*
*Whoosh*
*Bam*
Just like before, the ball passed right through Elizabeth.
Score: 7-0
"*Chuckle* What? Gave up already? C'mon! I thought you were better than that… Or was it just you being tough? Ahh… maybe you are losing on purpose so that our little girl gets happy? That's very kind of you, but you don't need to do that.
You should now drop the act and start playing more seriously, or our daughter will start looking own on every 'random' person with slightly better looks and a smug smile on their face" Maeve ruthlessly added salts on their injuries.
Elizabeth's body trembled in rage, Antony had a similar reaction, but from the look on his face, it looked like he had already resigned to his fate.
"This can't go on like this" Elizabeth muttered as she walked towards Antony.
"Oh yeah? Well thank you for telling me that" Antony replied in irritation.
"Shut your crap and do what I tell you to!" Elizabeth snapped, shocking Antony.
"What do you want me to do?" Antony noticed the determination in Elizabeth's eyes and questioned in hope.
"You will be the one to strike, but remember, don't use all your strength, leave the rest to me" Elizabeth answered and though confused, Antony didn't dare to question her.
The round started with Ace's serve, and just as planned, Antony received the ball before Elizabeth hit it into the sky, giving Antony the chance to smash.
Antony jumped and as Elizabeth commanded, he held back some of his strength behind the smash and targeted Ace, who had that lazy look, not even trying to provoke Antony anymore since he knew that Antony already gave up.
*Bam*
The ball moved towards Ace, and like before, Ace lazily walked towards the ball but just as he was about to receive the ball, an unnatural wind blew and the trajectory of the ball changed causing it to fall on the ground, surprising everyone.
Score: 7-1
A big smirk appeared on Elizabeth's face as she glanced at Maeve, who had a confused expression.
"It was amazing how you saw right through us, but now that you want us to give our 100 percent, we won't hold back anymore" Elizabeth smiled at Maeve.
While Elizabeth was smiling, Antony had a shocked expression printed on his face.
'Silent Incantation!' he exclaimed in his mind as he glanced at Elizabeth.
He was sure that Elizabeth just used Wind magic to score that point but what surprised him was that she didn't use any chants for it to work…
That means she was a mage who can use 'Silent Incantation', which was very rare for someone of her age.
To use something like that so easily… Elizabeth had to be someone very influential and strong.
"M-Miss Elizabeth, I apologize if any of my past actions may have bothered you, I was a fool who couldn't recognize how great you were and made stupid decisions, please, forgive me!" Antony bowed deeply and apologized.
And as he did, the smirk on Elizabeth's face widened even more.
"Don't worry, I don't sweat on these minor things, I am already beyond it" She replied.
"To be able to say something so deep at such a tender age… you really are someone exceptional, I don't know how my eyes failed to recognize this before"
"Alright, stop with the bootlicking. We have some opponents to defeat!" Saying that she turned towards Maeve to provoke her but contrary to her expectations, Maeve smiled.
"So we are doing it like that, huh?" Saying that, Maeve then turned towards Ace, who was picking the ball from the ground with a serious expression.
"My Nightingale's cheers stopped…"
