Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Leon of Vannalia

Before I could finish speaking, Leon had pulled me close to him and placed the rose in my hair. I could feel my heart thumping in my chest, butterflies in my stomach as I looked at this man, who could've given his rose to anyone but chose me.

In a slip second, he had grabbed my hand and was pulling me towards the dance floor inside. We dodged the crowd of people before he stopped suddenly and turned to face me.

"Princess Lilly, I would be honoured if you give me this dance with you." He bowed his head and stretched his hand out towards me. I nodded, not knowing how to react but Leon picked up on this immediately and pulled me close. He placed my hand on his shoulder, allowing his left hand to fall down and grasp my waist tightly whilst his right cupped my other hand. In seconds, we were floating around the room moving so precisely. His eyes never left mine as we spun around the ballroom in a waltz. As the music ended, we slowed to a stop but his hands stayed on my waist, his eyes staring into mine. At the point, we were interrupted by my father who came storming onto the floor and separated us. "Who are you to take my daughters first dance? The dance is reserved for me yet you have taken that. Announce yourself at once boy." My father spoke in a hushed tone so as not to draw any more attention to us.

"I do apologise your highness" Leon said in a half bow "but your daughter's beauty was too much for me to resist. I knew I must dance with her before somebody else stole her away. I didn't mean to take away your dance your highness. My greatest apologies" he said sarcastically, the dangerous yet enticing smirk still on his face. " I am León of Vannalia. Pleasure to meet you Princess Lilly and you King Leopold." My fathers eyes grew with anger yet he managed to subside his feelings before he exploded.

"Ah, Prince Leonard. You of all people should respect and understand the traditions and customs. Especially since you have gifted my daughter the official rose of Vannalia. What are your intentions young boy". Father questioned.

Leon seemed unbothered by my fathers grimace and instead answered " I must take my leave now. I'll be back soon to see your daughter." And with a wink and kiss on the hand he was gone, lost to the crowd of nobles talking about their fortunes.
