Chapter 2 - The Loneliest Girl

"VVVVVVVVAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!" someone yells from behind the counter.

I look up from m wallet and I found my best friend in the entire world there almost jumping up and down like a maniac. "Evan Walters, it's a shame you never got to be roadkill yet."

"Oh yeah? It's a shame that your college roommates never locked you in the dorms and set the entire place ablaze!" Evan shot back.

"It's a shame no one locked you in a box and buried you under the ground, sophisticating you to death!"

"It's a shame no one kidnaped you and chopped you into tiny little pieces, scattering all around in the forest for you never to found again!"

We stopped to glare at one another before we both got into fits of laughter. Evan jumps over the counter and picks my tiny short body into a huge bear hug. It's normal for the both of us to say horrible ways for the other to die in tragic ways, but if anyone who ever stumbled upon our banters, would think, one; we hate each other, or two; we need to be pot in a loony bin. Either way or not we've done this ever since we were kids because at first, we hated one another, you know like a bunch of kids who tried to act like they were top-notch at the age of three, but since our families are close considering we are both in the families of founder families, we grew close really fast like a sibling, since we are both the only child, but our death banters never stopped.

"What are you doing here Val? You didn't burn down your school yet did you?"

"Nah bra! Though they were too cool to keep me captive forever." I teased.

Evan looked not convinced, raising an eyebrow, "I thought you had another year to go, are you on break?"

I scratched the back of my neck before nervously laughing, "Y-yeah something like that."

Sighing Evan shakes his head before his smile returns, "My sift is about over and John is about to pick me up, do you want a ride back to your parent's house?"

"I don't want to be bothered or even a third wheel between you and your boyfriend." I refused.

"Nah man, John would be happy to see you again! Besides your place is on our way to our place anyway. No hassle at all!" Evan didn't let me refuse.

I gave in and nodded, "Okay thanks, man."

"Hey anything for my tiny little Val." he teases patting my head like a child and I smack his hand away.

"I've grown some!" I snapped.

"What like a centimeter?" he challenges before pulling me to his chest, "Look I am only 5'9 and you barely reach my chest."

I growled trying to push him away, and we both know if I really wanted to I could but I don't want to hurt him so I let him have his way as he cuddled me to his chest. The hour passed and Evan closed up the place locking the door behind us before leading us to the road just when a beat up old pickup truck pulls u in front of us and inside I see the giant behind the wheel. John and Evan have been dating ever since Junours year in high school, though the first two years, John is a typical football jockey who always bullied Evan for being the gay in town, and like every cheesy BL romance, John came out and had a crush on Evan for as long as he could remember, leading them being the most gagging cuties couple of town, but also being the most shunned from both their families and the community for being gay.

Evan hops in the truck first scootching to the middle, waving for me to get in after him. I climb in as well to smile big at the big guy saying, "Heya John, how's it going?"

John looks surprised at me for a moment before saying, "Val, it's good to see you!"

"Hey, handsome we're going to drop Val at her folk's place first." Evan cuts in.

John smiles sweetly down at his boyfriend, as we all know he can't say no to him, "Okay Bug, we can do that."

Evan returns the smile before climbing up and kissing John on the cheek, causing me to gag. Evan glares at me slapping me on my shoulder, "Oh hush it, you! You Handson were a LOT worse than we are!"

Evan brings Connor up caused my mood to drop right away, as I bet Evan could see in my eyes right away as all his joking was dropped as well, as his face came to being regret, "Val I... I am so sorry!"

Bitting my lips I force a smile back on my face before turning to him, "No, it's okay Evan, it's been five years already. I should be over it by now. I don't know why I'm not yet."

"No one could ever get over that Val," John speaks up, "the least of all you. If that were to have ever happened to Evan and me... I don't know what I'll do."

"Special what came afterward." Evan mumbles.

The rest of the drive became quiet but not awkward as they were just trying to give me some space which is okay with me. My old place came into sight to see not only was all the lights out but it looks like my folk's arent even home. I sighed before getting out and pulling my duffle bag out of the back. I was bout to close the door out I said, "Thanks for taking me home."

Evan said, "Hey Val!" I look up and he and John were smiling down at me, "Welcome back!"

The smile returned from my face, "I'm back!"

I waved after John and Evan as their old beat-up truck drives out of sight before I turn my attention back to the empty house before taking my keys out and facing the past in a form of an old house that was left for her by my Grandpa. Unlocking the front door I was lived to be right knowing my parents would rather be caught dead than to be seen in this town because of the disgrace that is me but fuck them I say because they are no better than rats in big cities where they are more likely are at.
