Chapter 2 - Prologue

Prologue

There wasn't any kind of warning, notification, or message that announced the horrible event. An event that would be remembered as one of the most infamous and mysterious in the history of humanity and its home planet.

It was the day, when a large part of one of the largest continents on Earth, inhabited by millions of humans and administered by the main governmental bodies of the United States of America, simply disappeared in the blink of an eye in a blinding flash. Its disappearance left countless horrible disasters behind, affecting the nearby tectonic plates and landmasses.

In those moments and places, it seemed like the world literally collapsed  on itself. Other disasters following from the incident ranged from earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, to the creation of small canyons on some nearby coasts. It affected the neighbors of the United States of America— from Canada to the northern parts of South America, even reaching some parts of the frozen and untamed Siberian Russia. Still, its effects spread farther beyond to the other continents in a cataclysmic wave.

The first to realize the disappearance of the United States of America would be those that were in proximity, either by sea or over the sky, along with the many satellites outside Earth. Those that watched the event as it happened, reported it immediately to other nations, companies, and anyone else that was capable of spreading the message to everyone on Earth. At first, the vast majority of the nations of earth believed that it was nothing more than a twisted and horrible hoax. Soon, they were swept up in dealing with natural disasters in their own countries, quickly realizing that these weren't illusions at all.

From this event, Earth saw one of the biggest changes in its history, both in politics and its ecological state. This would bring countless changes and questions to the small reality that mankind had lived and studied ever since birth.

How did an entire landmass could disappear that fast? Was it caused by some sort of cosmical error or by some kind of powerful and advanced being? And More importantly, what happened to the United States of America and its millions of inhabitants?
