Professor Runn:
Tapping my holo-display, I open the email Headmaster Noah sent, and a video starts playing.
"Attention all professors," he starts. In the video, I notice the headmaster is armed with his axe, a sword, and a bow with arrows. "Something is wrong with the academy's shield. They're failing."
I turn my head and look out my window. The headmaster is right. The academy's shield flickers on and off, sparking, fizzling, and smoking. A few minutes later, the shield turns off and the academy is exposed.
"I already sent our engineers down below to fix the shield, but until then. Prepare for battle. Meet Headmistress Amaya and me at the courtyard."
With that said, the video ends.
Professor Double Hits:
After the video ends, I don't waste a second and place my holo-display down. Turning around, I look over my wall of weapons. From end to end, I have various weaponry: melee weapons, range weapons, and even a few explosives.
Grabbing one mace, one blaster, one shotgun, and a few explosives, I leave my classroom and head for the courtyard.
When I finally get there, I see Headmaster Noah, Headmistress Amaya, and the rest of the professors, all armed and ready.
"Glad you are all here," Headmaster Noah says, spinning his axe and sword. "I hope you're all ready."
"We're ready," I say, bringing up my shotgun. The moment I say those words, a massive shadow blankets us and the academy. We all look up to see the sky covered in thousands and thousands of black dots.
"Professor Runn," Headmaster Noah shouts.
"Yes," Professor Runn asks, running to the headmaster's side.
"I want to be sure," the Headmaster starts, "But those are three different animal swarms. Right?"
Professor Runn adjusts his glasses as he leans forward to see the swarms better.
"Wait," Headmistress Amaya says. "Did you just say 'three different swarms'?"
"He's right," Runn says, leaning back. "I see crorvid and aggridid and even dipteric. But how is that possible?"
"I don't know," the Headmaster answers. "Three different species of animals all attacking at sound? This is...new."
"Incoming," I yell, pointing at the first swarm as they dive down toward us.
"Dipteric," Professor Runn shouts, pulling out his spear from behind him. "Be careful of their electric charge."
"Yeah," I say, "I'll be careful alright."
Pulling out some of the explosives I brought, I push the buttons on each of them and throw them.
"Bomb," I yell.
Hothead:
"What in the world was that," I yell, dropping to my knee.
Running down the hallway, almost outside, something happens and the whole hallway starts shaking. Nearly falling, I drop to my knees and steady myself.
"Hothead," someone yells.
Hearing my name, I turn around and see Jump, Shocker, and the rest of our two teams behind me.
"You moron," Alodia yells, also on her knees. "What are you doing? The professors and even the headmaster told us to go back to our rooms!"
"We should go back to our rooms," Renee yells, on his knees as well. The hallway shakes again and this time, it throws Renee into the wall before throwing him onto the floor.
"Renee," Jump shouts. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Renee answers, shooting up from the floor. "I'm fine. I'm fine! Yeah, Sulien! We need to get to our room! Something is going on and I think the adults want us somewhere safe."
"Uhh, hey," someone from Shocker's team says. I think his name is Chadd. He taps Renee on his shoulder. "You have a black eye."
"Wait, what?"
Renee taps his left eye and screams again.
"Why would you do that," Jump asks.
"I wanted to be sure."
"Sure you had a black eye," the girl on Shocker's team asks. "What? You don't trust Chadd?"
"It's fine, Honey," Chadd says, placing his hand on her shoulder.
"Excuse me," I shout, everyone turning to look at me. When they all look at me, I reach behind and pull out my sword. "But whether or not the professors need my help, I still going. Come with me if you want, but you don't have to."
I turn toward the door leading to the outside. The second the shaking stops and the hallway isn't moving, I stand up and run for the door.
Renee Eamon:
"Well, team leader," Alodia says, slapping my arm. "What do we do?"
"I don't know," I answer. I rack my brain, trying to come up with the best solution.
"What do I do? What do I do! Should we go to our room? Or should we go outside? Wait! We can't go back to our room! Sulien isn't with us. But wait, we also can't go outside. The Professors basically order us to stay indoors. What should I do? What should I tell them?"
While I'm still thinking, the leader of the other team, and one of Sulien's friends I think, push himself up. When he's on his feet, he runs after Sulien.
Sliding and stopping after the first few steps, he turns back to his team and nudges his head.
"Shocker is telling you to follow him," Eimear says.
"Oh boy," Chadd moans, pushing himself up. "Honey. Clementine. We're going to regret this, but come on."
Chadd follows his team leader. The two girls, though slow at first, follow the two.
"Shocker, wait."
Eimear follows the other team leader, Shocker. She pulls one of her magazines out from her pocket and loads it into her crossbow.
Watching Eimear get up and run, I take a deep breath before getting up myself. Before running, I turn and look at Alodia.
"My...order," I stutter. "I order...us to...charge!"
Headmaster Noah:
"Amaya," I shout, "Watch out!"
Throwing my axe, I watch it spin through the air before hitting a crorvid, the winged animal shrieks before it falls to the ground lifeless.
"Sir," Headmistress Amaya starts. "Thank you."
Jumping and rolling along the ground, I pick up my axe before landing back on my feet and standing up. Now armed with both my axe and sword again, I slice them all over, killing as many crorvid, aggridid, and dipteric as I can. However, because of the aggridids' and dipterics' extreme small size, they are almost impossible to hit.
Hearing a scream, I turn my head and see Professor Canbury being attacked by a swarm of dipteric. The dipterics all gather together and form one solid limb. The limb flies right into the Professor, hitting him in the stomach. They pick him up before throwing him back down.
"Canbury," I yell. Despite the distance, I can still see slight burn marks on Canbury's armor.
"Dipteric can hold electric charge," I tell myself. "When they attacked Canbury, they also electrocuted him."
Looking around, I see the dipteric swarm and follow it. Still traveling in one solid form, the dipteric swarm circles in the air before diving down toward Canbury again.
Moving fast, I pull out my bow and a few arrows. Pulling back the bowstring, I fire arrows that hit the swarm. As expected, I didn't kill the swarm but I did force the dipterics to move apart, meaning they are not one solid form anymore.
Now a bunch of smaller swarms flying around, I throw my sword, and axe, and shoot off a few more arrows. My attacks destroy the smaller swarms. With them gone, I rush to examine Canbury.
"Canbury," I say, dropping to a knee. "Are you okay?"
"Ahhh," Canbury cries out, holding his chest. "Darn! That hurt!"
"Well, unfortunately, my friend. We are not done yet. Get up!"
I offer Canbury my hand and he takes it. As I pull Canbury up, I hear buzzing. Turning my head, I see an approaching swarm of aggridid.
Raising one of my arms and bracing myself, I hear something else and turn my head again.
Crying as he jumps out from the side, Sulien, or as I've been told, Hothead, swings his sword and sends out a wave of fire. His attack burns and kills the aggridid swarm.
"Yeah," Hothead yells, pointing at the pile of burnt insects. "Yeah! Ha!"
"Mr. Bokamoso," I yell, grabbing and turning the young student around. "What are you doing here?"
"We're here to help," Hothead answers.
"We?"
Again, hearing something, I turn my head and see more of my students running out of the academy and into the field.
"Aren't you happy," Hothead asks with a smile.
Before I can answer, all three swarms stop attacking. The crorvid, aggridid, and dipteric swarms all fly into the sky. They fly in circles before flying away.
"What in the world," I say, watching the three swarms disappear from view.
