Grimald was absolutely livid but he was trying hard to hide it for Alexis. He wanted to rip that priest apart, but he knew that Sybil was right, doing it in front of Alexis wasn't the way to go. Taking a deep breath, Grimald looked in through Sybil's back door and watched as she gave some pills to the terrified girl and a warm cup of tea.
Alexis finally regained consciousness about ten minutes ago, and even though Grimald insisted that she be taken to a proper doctor, Sybil convinced him they would ask to many questions.
Hearing the door open Grimald stood patiently waiting to hear what Sybil had to say, not once taking his eyes off the sweet girl that was shakily sipping her cup of tea.
"Well, she is scared and shaken up but over all she will be alright. I will make sure she takes some over the counter pain pills for her throat but it's nothing long term. Once the bruising goes away it will be like nothing happened."
"But something did happen," Grimald growled.
With a sigh Sybil placed her hand on Grimald's arm.
"I understand your angry, I am too. But killing him in front of her would have just made everything worse. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect her. I didn't think anything would happen if I just left her asleep in the car while I ran my errand. If I would have known that priest was nearby I swear I would have just kept driving."
Grimald finally looked at Sybil.
"I don't blame you Sybil. If anyone is to blame it's me, not you. I am the reason she is in this mess, I am the reason these people are targeting her. I should have never made myself known to her, maybe then none of this would have happened."
"I'm gl-glad you did th-though," a raspy voice interrupted.
Grimald whipped his head around to find Alexis standing in the doorway with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. The finger marks on her neck did nothing but fuel his anger even more. How could someone hurt something so innocent and sweet?
"What are you doing? You should be laying down and resting," Grimald said while rushing to her side.
"None o-of this i-is y-your f-fault. I w-want to help y-you and I-I'm gl-glad we m-met," Alexis whispered, a blush coating her soft cheeks.
Grimald chuckled, "Me too love, I just don't like seeing you hurt. Why don't you go lay back down and get some rest? I need to go see if I can figure out who this priest is and I will feel better leaving you if I know your laying down allowing your body to heal."
"Wi-will you be b-back?"
"I promise as soon as I found out what I want to know I will come back straight away and check on you."
Alexis nodded her head and opened her mouth to whisper goodnight, but before she could Grimald gave her a kiss on her cheek and nudged her into the door.
Once Grimald saw her get settled for the night he took off into the night. He had no idea where to start, but he was determined to figure out who this priest was. He needed to do something to protect Alexis, he couldn't allow history to repeat itself.
Heading back to where Alexis was attacked he wasn't surprised to find the parking lot empty. Resting on the roof he stretched up to his full height and looked around trying to find a clue or an idea of where the priest could have went. After surveying the area he noticed that the old catholic church was nearby, just a couple blocks away.
Despite it's old age the building was still beautiful with it's hand crafted detail and statues. They only used it for large scale events, but something was telling Grimald to check it out anyway. Flying over he landed behind the building and slowly made his way around, checking each window to see if anyone was home.
When he was almost completely around the building he noticed the smallest window by the side door had light coming from it. How did he not notice when he first landed? Slowly making his way to the window he peeked inside and at first he didn't see anyone.
Since Grimald was really good at sitting and waiting, that's exactly what he did. Once he started hearing voices arguing he decided to peek in the window again. Unable to make out the faces of whoever was arguing in the church he decided to hop up onto the roof and wait.
It didn't take long for the door to slam open and a man to appear. Grimald immediately noticed it was the same man who attacked Alexis in the parking lot and his blood began to boil again. Without thinking he landed in front of the priest and stood to his full height, wings stretched, and teeth bared.
"Who are you?! What did you want with the girl?" he demanded.
The priest could only sputter, fear rolling off him in waves. Grimald quickly grew inpatient and grabbed the man by his throat, the same way this lowlife grabbed his Alexis.
"Well?!"
"I-I-I....."
Squeezing his throat Grimald growled, "I will ask one more time. Who are you and what did you want with the girl?"
"My n-name is Do-Donahue. I w-was t-trying to f-find 'A-Accalia'."
