Chapter 82 - Bandit attack

They were surrounded. Bai Yue stepped down from the carriage, a heavy stone dropping in her stomach when she saw the glint of swords. Was she supposed to block them with her little hairpin?

She glanced at Zheng Fei. The man was standing next to the carriage, completely drenched by the rain. As he was still wearing his large straw hat, it was difficult to see whether or not he was scared.

"Zheng Fei, this has nothing to do with you. You should take a horse and try to break through," she said in a calm voice. The trembling of her hands reminded her all too easily how fake her facade was. "If you could take Liu'er with you-"

"No!" Liu'er cut her off. "Young miss, I'm not leaving."

Zheng Fei gave Bai Yue a glance. "Miss Bai, do you really think they will let me go? That the woman in the carriage will let me off after I heard you talk?"

Even without seeing his face, it was difficult not to notice his disdain.
