Cross was eating in the great hall when he heard shouting outside. Hearing Umbridge, he thought it would be a good opportunity to mess with her some more, so he left to see what was happening.
He got out of the great hall to see McGonagall arguing with Umbridge, as Umbridge said "Pardon me Professor, but what exactly are you insinuating?" McGonagall replied "I am merely requesting that when it comes to my students, you conform to the prescribed disciplinary practices."
Umbridge blinked and said "So silly of me but it sounds that you're questioning MY authority in my own classroom. Minerva." as she took a step up the stairs, gaining the height advantage.
McGonagall sneered and said "Not at all. Delores. Merely your medieval methods." Umbridge retorted "I am sorry dear, but to question my practices, is to question the Ministry and by extension, the Minister himself!"
Cross stepped out and said sarcastically "So silly of ME, but it sounds like you can represent the entire Ministry, 'Professor' Umbridge?" the students gasped and started whispering, McGonagall chided "Mr. Greengrass, enough."
Cross ignored her and walked forward as he said "Professor Umbridge, has Minister Fudge given you full authority to act how you like at Hogwarts despite being a 'Professor' and the the Headmaster?" Umbridge opened her mouth and Cross sighed "Unable to confirm? I should have known. The Minister would never condone such vicious punishments as a scarring quill, being the kind and generous man as he is."
Cross shook his head and patted Umbridge's shoulder as he smiled 'kindly', ordering her death sentence "Professor, I am a fan of your excellent approach towards teaching the younger generation. It is truly revolutionary, I apologize for Mr. Potter's words and appreciate trying to set him straight. I have had a talk with Mr. Potter and he has seen the error of his ways, despite potentially being scarred for life, he has forgiven you."
He wiped the non-existent tear from his eye as he added "Please continue trying your best, you are my idol." before walking away, muttering out loud "I'm never washing this hand again! Maybe I'll get a signature next time!"
Umbridge felt her whole body tremble in rage, while the audience of students and Minerva all held back their laughter. Umbridge growled out "I see." before leaving.
Cross watched her disappear before wiping his hand on a wall and pointing his wand at his hand saying "Scourgify! Scourgify! Scourgify!" The students watched him and burst into laughter, buckling over and falling to the ground with tears in there eyes.
McGonagall chuckled and shook her head as she walked away, preparing for the worst.
Cross looked at the students before appearing in front of Hermione saying "Hand cleaning spell!" Hermione laughed and said "There isn't one." Cross looked devastated and wiped his hand on Ron's robes, Ron jumped as he shouted "Bloody hell! I only have one of these, I can't afford to burn it!"
Everybody looked at Ron for a second before erupting into even louder laughter.
The next day
Filtch put up a notice from the Ministry that declare Umbridge as the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts.
Cross looked at the notice and said "Whatever that means." Hermione said "It means a teacher appointed by the Ministry of Magic to make sure that unsatisfactory teachers were removed from Hogwarts and to ensure that any Educational Decrees set by the Ministry were followed."
Cross said "Oh." and that was the end of that. Hermione shook her head at Cross' apparent disregard for anything Umbridge. She giggled, remembering what Harry told her, and said "Seems like your actually a pretty petty guy."
Cross smirked and replied "Who said she could interrupt me? Nobody interrupts me." Hermione shook her head and laughed as they went to class.
A while later
Cross and Luna were leaning on a wall talking and laughing, Luna kissed him but they were forcefully separated from each other by Umbridge who walked by, waving her wand. Cross' uniform returned to the dress code as she walked away.
She shouldn't have done that.
Cross was infuriated and his hand twitched, Luna held it down saying "Easy. I don't want to have to come visit you in Azkaban." Cross calmed down and looked at Luna as he joked "Do prisoners have visiting rights in Azkaban?" Luna giggled and said "I don't know, but I don't want to find out."
Cross snickered and fixed his clothes before dragging Luna somewhere else, swearing to get revenge.
Another day
Cross was in Snape's class while Umbridge questioned "You applied for the Defense against the Dark arts teaching position, correct?" Snape said "Yes." Umbridge nodded and wrote something down as she asked again "And you were unsuccessful?" Snape replied "Obviously."
Cross chuckled and went back to reading his book as Umbridge left, fixing Cross' clothes as she left. He choked and glared at her back muttering in Parseltongue "One day I will feed her to the Dementors.." Harry coughed and laughed under his breath, burying his head into a potions book.
Snape clicked his tongue and smacked Ron, Harry, and Cross' heads with a book as he looked at the disappearing Umbridge, muttering something under his breath.
Every day new rules were being hung outside the great hall filling the entire wall.
Another few days later
Cross was listening to Trelawney talk about Divination. He actually liked this class because he felt as though he could potentially see into the future too with his 'Domain' as he called it. As Trelawney was speaking Umbridge interrupted "You've been working here for 12 years yes?" Trelawney corrected "16 years."
Umbridge nodded and wrote something down as Trelawney continued nervously, Cross was getting annoyed. Umbridge interrupted again "Could you please predict something for me?" Trelawney was startled and said "I'm sorry?" Umbridge replied "One teensy little prophecy?"
Trelawney was unable to speak because she was clearly anxious and nervous. Cross was truly enraged, Trelawney was a kind person, albeit a bit crazy. He had a soft spot for her because she reminded him of Luna.
Umbridge walked to the door and said "Pity." as she left, Trelawney panicked and said "No! Wait, wait, no! I see something dark! You are in great danger!" Umbridge wrote it down as she said "Lovely." before leaving.
Cross cursed "I'll kill her myself, that dumb cunt!" the students were bewildered and Trelawney calmed him down saying "Let past transgressions go, young Cross. The Art of Divination requires a calm mind." she had a small smile as she continued her class normally.
Cross sat back down and snapped his quill in half, Hermione looked at him and whispered "Relax!" Cross took a breath and went back to taking notes, the only class he actually cared about. His 'Domain' was about 50 meters in radius now and he could predict movements easily, he thought about a new name because 'Domain' wasn't suitable. It wasn't a domain, it was just a feeling.
The name Haki crossed his mind but he dismissed it, thinking that was a dumb name. He named it Mantra. He felt like his Mantra was pretty strong but could evolve to be something even more powerful!
Another few days later
Cross was standing next to Luna, watching Trelawney get her stuff thrown out of Hogwarts into the courtyard. She looked terrified, Cross was clenching his fists and the markings appeared on his face, Luna coo'd him and patted his hand, receding the marks as she smiled.
Cross saw Umbridge walk out and stand across from Trelawney. His expression was vicious as he twitched his finger, a gargoyle statue on the castle suddenly broke 'naturally' and 'accidentally' fell, barreling towards Umbridge's head.
Luna was helpless and sighed, looking at Cross's blank expression with a warm smile.
McGonagall stepped out and waved her wand, stopping the gargoyle that was impersonating Truck-kun. Umbridge looked at the gargoyle floating above her head and snorted "Seems the castle itself needs repairing."
McGonagall rolled her eyes and looked at the natural bottom broken part before sending it back up and repairing the stone. She could've sworn her heard several tongue clicks and mutters saying that Umbridge was lucky, McGonagall felt her eye's twitch as she took care of Trelawney.
Cross walked away, seeing as his 'accidental' murder plan didn't work. Luna followed after him with a sweet smile, she like Trelawney too. Though she thought Cross was a bit crazy, she liked it. It meant that was truly him, not an act. She liked the real him, the act was okay sometimes but his real personality was much better than anything else.
The duo disappeared from the courtyard, Cross' ears twitched and he waved his hand again as he and Luna left.
Back at the courtyard
Umbridge was holding a letter and said "Actually I can!" but the letter exploded into pieces before all the pieces turned to dust, stunning everyone. McGonagall sneered and said "Do you have a letter or something that could prove your claims, Dolores?" Umbridge was sure it was Cross, she was 100,000,000% sure actually.
Even if you beat her to death, she wouldn't believe it was anyone else.
That was a Ministry approved letter, destroying it was an act of treason against the Ministry, she had him now. She looked around frantically and shouted "Mr. Greengrass! Get out here! I know you did that!"
Harry chimed in and said "Professor, Cross left a few minutes ago." Hermione added "Yeah, I saw him go back into the castle a while ago." more and more students spoke up for Cross, whether they saw him or not.
Making Umbridge look like a retard, but she knew there was a conspiracy here. Cross was at the head of it! She was sure!
The despicable, disgusting, repulsive, cunning conspiracy leader was currently locking lips with Luna, in his room. Completely unaware that he had embarrassed Umbridge yet again, without even being there!
If he did know, he might even cry tears of joy, thinking of how great he was...
He was getting more narcissistic by the second.
Time passed
While Cross and Luna were snuggling, in the Gryffindor common room...
Hermione was staring out the window as she said "He really is out there isn't he?" she paused for a second before continuing "And if Umbridge refuses to teach us how, we need someone who will."
The next morning
Cross said "No." as he ate his breakfast, Hermione said "Please! We need a teacher!" Cross shook his head and said "No." Hermione bit her lips and stomped off, her grand plans had fallen through, time for plan b!
Cross went on reading his mystery novel with interest as he ate, Luna joined him, leaning on his shoulder and reading along as she stuffed her face full of food.
This continued for another couple of days.
Cross reappeared in the Room of Requirement, taking his clones back, when he heard the door forming. He wiped everything and teleported back to his room, disappearing completely.
