Chereads / Raiding the Blood Furnace / Chapter 27 - Rogue Mission

Chapter 27 - Rogue Mission

Braxton exited the Blood Furnace. He arrived back on planet Earth with his traveling companions. The room he entered was different than the one he had walked into the blood furnace initially. There were plenty of concessions and amenities available to partake in. He was greeted by the young doctor. She had been seated at a desk greeting all those returning members.

"Master Blackhawk, I must beg your forgiveness. I didn't know who you were." The doctor pleaded.

"You have nothing to apologize for. This is my father's business it is only right and fitting I do my part to make it succeed. Take me to collect my reward for unlocking the gate." Braxton replied.

"Come with me." Braxton said as he grabbed Vixen's hand.

"What about me?" Blaster questioned what he should do next.

"Come along. You spent more time running around than half the folks they have already talked to." Braxton said in a rush.

They were taken to the accounts payable department. There he was given a form to fill out explaining his actions that led to the gate being completed. It was reviewed and he was issued a check for one million dollars. The process took less than half an hour.

After he had the check, he put it in his storage compartment. Then ordered the doctor to take him to his father's office. On the way to the office, she whispered "You are going to be a father yourself."

If that wasn't shocking enough, Vixen squeezed his hand and he felt the bones break. "Ouch! What was that for?" He said looking up at Vixen from his knees.

"Jealousy I guess. It must have got the better of me. You do have good taste." Vixen replied with an evil grin.

"Well there might be another one. I'm a teenager. It a fine ass woman offers, I'm not turning it down. When I'm not in a relationship." He added quickly.

"I forgive you." Vixen said as she picked him up.

"I should just let this go shouldn't I?" Braxton asked looking to Blaster for confirmation.

Blaster quickly nodded in the affirmative. He clearly didn't want to be involved in this conversation.

The party reached his father's office half hour or more later. The building was huge and it was a maze. His hand was mostly fixed by the time he arrived. "Wait out here please." He told his companions in the waiting room of the office.

"No. Blaster can guard the waiting room. You're my property now. If anyone is going to hurt you it'll be me." Vixen said flatly.

"Okay, but if you don't understand what I'm saying, ignore it." Braxton warned her. In truth he wasn't exactly sure what he was going to say yet.

"You haven't let me down yet. I'll back your play the best I can." Vixen comforted him.

Braxton didn't wait to be greeted or announced. He opened he door and walked right in. His father was seated behind his desk. "Did I catch you at a bad time?" He asked.

"Finally found your way home?" His father returned. "Who's the fox?"

"She's my lover. I found her in the Blood Furnace." Braxton didn't see any reason to beat around the bush on that matter.

"I see you got my taste in women. What brings you by my office? I thought you wanted nothing to do with he business." Braxton Sr stated.

"Well it seems like you're about to make a mistake. This investment concerns the whole family's wellbeing. I thought if I got involved, I might be able to help out. I don't want much to do with living under your rules." Braxton seeded the roots of doubt by attacking his investment's strength.

"Oh, what mistake am I making?" Braxton Sr. queried.

"You got one site on a planet. It's not a game, the creatures won't respawn. If you dump a bunch of people into one spot, that area won't recover. Then there is the matter of people actually going in and winding up dead. You will be sued into bankruptcy inside a month. Unless the scientist figure out a way to make clones they can send off to battle. Or save their essence in the nanites and make clones if they get killed." Braxton continued.

"Hmm, and what do you want to help fix it." Sr. Inquired.

"First, I want my own portal like the one here. One I can take with me and enter the Blood Furnace from. You will need to have those anyway. Then I want you to make a bunch and let me travel around dispersing them. Limit each portal starting zone to a set number of people. It'll be an exclusive game zone. We can target rich people. It'll be a gaming experience not just anyone can acquire. Make them sign accidental death clauses. If you don't believe me about how dangerous it is out there, I brought two survivors that lived there for eleven years and eight years respectively. Neither of them were part of the group of survivors in Major's group." Braxton finished.

"Wow, I didn't hear you ask for money at all. Maybe you did get my head for business. Those gates aren't cheap. What makes you think I can afford them?" Sr. questioned.

"You can't make money if here is nothing for people to kill can you? The way you dumped money into building your prime location... You've got money to spend. Your way will end badly quick. My plan will make it so people appear in less populated areas. The game will be plentiful. They will also be able to return home from other sites. Only having one was the problem before. The more you give me the more I can setup around that planet. I also want my gate to be able to select any gate I've entered before when I open it up." Braxton responded.

"How fast do you expect me to make this happen?" Sr. scoffed.

"I don't really care. If you want my help that's what I need. I've lived there for a few months. That planet is huge and there is no ground water on the surface anywhere I've been. The gentleman outside your door lost his canteen. He would have died from that alone. We had to walk eleven days and come up with a plan to keep him alive. Those are the things your experts can't plan for." Braxton said in a disgruntled manner.

"Let me think it over. How can I contact you?" Sr. replied.

"I don't know yet. Your people picked me up off the street and chucked me in the portal. My lady needs her back pay and a settlement package. Then we need to find a place to stay. We will let you know. Come on let's go get a good meal Vixen." Braxton said calmly as he got up to leave.
