Chapter 16: Comeback
Mr. Andy and the kids arrived at the venue. Mr. Andy told the kids to rest and wait for the pairing. The kids nodded and just started to rest.
Mr. Andy entered the Officials area and apologized to the teachers and he told them that the kid was already fine but can't join fourth round. The teachers were relieved what they hear and they told him that they have finished the pairing.
Mr. Andy gave his thanks to them and started posting the pairing of the fourth round. He announced that the pairing is up and they can now start to check. He even announced that the after this round, he will be posting the ranking after the sixth round.
The kids saw their pairings and this time, Ervin and Randy will be playing each other. As Chesster's comrade, they even put their hand on each other's shoulder to show their sportsmanship.
Ace and the other four just laugh and told that they look like a gangster who are drunk. They just laugh and be sat at their tables.
Mr. Andy announced the start of the fourth round. As usual, everyone started to shake hands and punched the clock. The first four round was a success that there are no issues and went smoothly.
After forty minutes, Billy and Marco won their game and now have three and a half (3.5) points. Followed by Csarina who is unexpectedly got her first loss in the game. She loss due to accidentally touching the wrong piece which leads her defense to crumble. She currently has three (3) wins and one (1) loss.
Ace crushed his opponent and now have four (4) points. And Mark was surprisingly having a hard time to his opponent but after a close game, he manages to sneak his knights to sacrifice for two pawns which leads him to his victory. He now has four (4) points same with Ace.
After an hour, Ervin and Randy decided to have a tie after a fifty-five (55) moves. They are even on pieces and positions. Now, both of them have three (3) points. Two of it was a tie. And Chesster got his third loss by default. And currently, he is at the bottom with only one (1) point.
After the morning session. They asked permission to Mr. Andy that they will go out and buy food for Mr. Norly and Chesster. Mr. Andy agreed and told them to be careful.
The kids started to go to the nearest restaurant. In there, they saw someone who is looking at them seriously like they are being butchered. They just didn't mind it started ordering food.
After they got their order, the kid staring at them started talking to them that, "I will crush you all when we have a chance to play in the selections."
Ervin looks at him like a gangsta that he even tried to crash his fingers. But Ace stopped him and told,
"don't get trigger. He's just a kid." Then Mark and Randy started laughing and even the other three started to laugh and said,
"all of us are kids. So, stop pretending you're an adult."
The kid was ashamed and started walking out in the restaurant. Ace even followed up,
"be careful, you might get fall out there."
The kid blushed and started to walk fast and nearly fall. He was embarrassed and ran away.
"See, he's a kid." Ace chuckled.
Everyone laughed and Ervin told Ace, "you're so boring. You should let me scare him a little bit."
Ace just smiled. They also got out in the restaurant and started walking on their way to the clinic.
After ten minutes of walking, they arrived at the clinic. They distributed their foods to everyone and started Csarina volunteered to pray before eating.
While eating, they told Chesster their results and he was amazed and congratulated them. He also gave encouragement to Csarina who loss. Chesster started to thank everyone because they are so very caring to him.
After a couple of minutes, the nurse started checking his condition. She told Mr. Norly that Chesster can go out now and can join the afternoon session but with a condition, Chesster needed to drink water every fifteen (15) minutes to replenish his energy. Mr. Norly agreed and thanked the nurse.
Mr. Norly called Mr. Andy the news and also said his worries because Chesster is still has only one (1) point which is crucial because if he loses at least one more time, he may not able to join the final selection.
Mr. Andy talked to Mr. Norly that just trust the process and don't think too much about it. Mr. Norly agreed to Mr. Andy and ended the call. He told to the kids that Chesster can now go out with them and join for the afternoon session.
The kids were so happy that they nearly broke the bed in the room. They started packing up and assisted Chesster because he was still a little too weak compared to his normal self. Chesster just smiled at them and started to pack up also.
