Chapter 24 - Oh, yeah...

Rue stops in her tracks. "What makes you think we can count on him?" She nods to the witch, glaring at him, unconvinced. Rue crosses her arms over her chest, peering over at the witch who begins to stand and smirk at the two.

Monty shrugs honestly. "Nothing. Why can't we just have faith?" Rue stands surprised at his question, as does the witch behind him. Monty licks his lips, darting his eyes to his hands in his hoodie before glancing back into his step-sister's eyes daringly. "You brought us to a witch. You brought us to this crazy place. You brought us here to find our parents, and now you don't want to take a leap of faith?" The gaze the two step-siblings share is serious and unnerving. Rue spots a familiar speck in his eyes, one she sees in her step-father's when he glances at her mother.

She blinks softly, and her eyes travel to the witch. He nods, but she wasn't sure what for. "Okay," she finally answers.

"Okay?" Monty jerks back, confused.

Rue rolls her chocolate irises, "Okay!" She smiles, nodding to her step-brother. His bright smile brings a warm emotion to her heart. Rue moves to the witch, glaring at his violet disposition. "Look, we're trying to find this witch. Trance, Creator of Life? I believe is his title?" Rue turns to Monty momentarily, and he nods in confirmation. Both of them nod to the witch, noticing him laugh.

Before Rue or Monty could ask what he was laughing for, the witch buries his hands in his pockets. "Trance? Yeh, I know te 'guy' yer lookin' fir." He laughs again, watching Rue cross her arms and Monty stare only in confusion. With a warm smile, the male bows elegantly before standing at his full six foot seven. "Trance, Creator of Life, 'nd yeh are?" Trance asks Monty with a smirk.

Monty could barely speak, but when he did, his stutter came out. "I—uh. My name? It's—uh, it's—uh, Monty." Monty swallows the saliva in his mouth before gesturing to Rue. "This is my, uh, step—step-sister, Rue..." Monty trails off, darting his attention elsewhere because of the witch's intense stare.

The witch had only instilled his gaze on the brunet's green eyes peering into his soul. Both begin to ogle into each other's eyes until Rue coughs. Monty dashes his attention to the floor, blushing. The witch smiles softly, relaxing into a slouching stance. Trance watches Monty as he fidgets his fingers in his hoodie. Rue glances between the two males suspiciously. She only smirks at the two, shaking her head.

When Monty notices her reaction, he asks, "What?" The boy cocks an eyebrow.

Rue giggles, shaking her head. "Nothing," sobering herself, she turns to Trance, "Can you take us to Damara?"

Trance freezes, narrowing his eyes at the two humans. He was surprised humans were interested in his former partner, but since she was his former partner, he turns to Monty with a grin. "I'll take yeh te Damara; unner un con'ition." Monty narrows his eyes suspiciously and bites his lip. He notices Trance's jaw tighten at his movement. This reaction made Monty curious.

"And the condition?" Inquires Rue, her arms crossed over her chest.

"I aid yehns te finish yeh quest." Was Trance's answer.

The two became speechless. They turn to one another, worried it was obvious what they were after and wouldn't be able to make it through all ten realms. Rue opens her mouth to speak, only nothing comes out. She gapes like a fish as Monty noticeably gulps. Monty's anxiety begins to flare up, and before the two can answer, Trance nods.

"Oh, um. Okay, I— I guess." Monty suddenly answers. Rue glances at her step-sibling in shock. "What? Won't a wizard be helpful?" He points out, gesturing to the violet male. Rue only frowns, and settles her hands on her hips. She arches her brow as Monty rolls his eyes at her accusation.

Before Rue can tell Monty to retract his granted request, Trance interjects, "I'm nadda 'wizard;' I'ma witch. Tere is a difference," he adds attitude to his voice, crossing his own arms. Monty drools over the muscles of Trance as he flexes, annoyed.

Rue rolls her eyes, gritting her teeth. "Fine. You can tag along," she grumbles. Trance and Monty share a smile as Rue sighs. "So we've found Trance. Damara..?"

Trance takes the hint, smiling. "Oh, right." Pulling out a wand from his boot, he holds his arm out for Monty to take. "Hang on tight." Trance winks. Rue grabs a hold of her step-brother's hand with both hands. Monty only tightens his grip on Trance's arm, which causes Trance to smile brightly at the boy.
