After Hayley and I bring Thea and Leilani home, we sit in her car for a long while, trying to rein in all the thoughts that had happened that night as nervous energy pulsed through the car.
"So. Avae died." Hayley begins.
"Check."
"How are we going to tell people this?" She asks.
"Maybe we should try and get to the bottom of this, find out who the 'star star' person is, and then report to the police. Otherwise they'd probably think that we killed her." I answered.
"That's a good idea. Also, Addy, I have something to confess."
"Yeah?"
"I think I know who the 'star star' person is," she whispered. I blanched.
"You do? Who?"
"I'll show you." Hayley peeled away from the curb and raced off into the night.
"A cemetery?" I blurted. We were standing in front of a low, curved building.
"There's a graveyard behind. I think she's going to be in there."
"She?" I hissed, but Hayley was already creeping ahead into the building. I followed behind her. Inside the cemetery, it was so dark I couldn't see a thing until I collided with the rough edge of a stone bench, scraping my knee. I swore under my breath and hobbled ahead, trying to find Hayley. I stumbled around in the dark, my hands held out straight in front of me. With my hands occupied, I was totally unprepared for when the shovel hit me over the head.
