BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEE- "ughh I'm awake already" Ella said rubbing her eyes drowsily. She could hear the waves of the sea from her window. She got up and walked toward the window to take a deep breath. When Ella was little, her father had died while at war and her mother struggled to take care of her, so she lived with her mother and grandmother near the ocean on a small island near america. She quickly got dressed when she heard a small knock on the door. "Ella, may I come in?" A voice said from the other side. "Of course grandma." Ella said smiling. She was still fixing her blonde, wavy hair. Her grandmother entered, sat on ella's bed and motioned for ella to sit next to her. When Ella sat down her grandmother pulled a small crystal box and handed it to Ella, "I know it is not exactly your 14th birthday yet dear, but your Great Grandmother, My mother, would like you to have this now." She Said. "What is it?" Ella said. "You will find out soon. Open it when I leave. And remember Ella- There is more to something or someone than their or its appearance." And her grandmother left the room. Ella decided not to open it, and put it under her bed. She ran downstairs because she smelled her mother's world famous blueberry chocolate swirl pancakes. "Mom, what's all this for?" Ella said as she walked down the stairs. "There is the birthday girl! happy Birthday week!" Her mom said, placing a plate in front of Ella containing delicious pancakes. "Mom, my birthday is not for a week." Ella said with a little smirk and started eating pancakes. "You know Ella, on your 14th birthday you will receive a family heirloom, and there is a story to it ya know." Her mother said. "What is it?" Ella said still finishing up a pancake. "I'll tell you after breakfast dear." Her mom said, and it was quiet for a long time, but Ella was very excited to know what this heirloom was and the story behind it.
