I felt my eyes open of their own accord. Everything was pitch black around me except the small space in front of me.
I was sitting...or standing...floating maybe...
My brain wasn't working correctly, I was sure of it. My thoughts would disperse as quickly as I gathered them.
I could only stare at the objects before me, as my instinct took over.
The next few minutes happened in a blur. I vaguely recall picking up a variety of items that appeared before me, like choices I think.
Then darkness...
Character creation complete.....
Entering the game world.....
I felt my mind coming back.
Once again I opened my eyes.
Looking around I saw that I was sitting in a green field filled with colorful flowers.
In the distance, I spotted a small village with a lone cloud of smoke rising from one of the houses.
My brain had now returned to normal.
What was that? Where am I? Am I really in a video game?
Sighing, I rose from the ground and checked out my digital body.
I wore a sword and dagger upon my belt along with leather armor from head to toe.
It sure would be nice to know some more information.
Piing! Accessing Character menu.
A small screen appeared before me, with detailed character information.
Well, that was handy. The game must be able to read my thoughts.

What's a ninja? Why do I keep thinking of pirates? What's a pirate?
Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
All of this felt very familiar, but not quite.
For some reason, I felt that this field of flowers may be more dangerous than it first appeared.
I drew my sword, impressed at the feel of the weapon in my hand. It felt like an extension of my body.
Had I trained in the sword?
I took a few steps into the field and heard a rustling sound coming from below.
My instinct told me to dodge, so I trusted it and jumped to the left.
A large snake snapped at the location I had just been standing.
Miss!
In the corner of my peripheral vision numbers and words were appearing. It said 'Miss!' when the snake missed me. I realized this was the game giving me relevant details without being too obtrusive.
The snake was about 6 feet long and lime green. As I looked at it a small screen appeared, giving basic information.
Green Boa- Level 1- Hp-10
The green Boa is a low-level monster that will wait to attack its prey. Once captured it will squeeze its foe until death.
Skills- || Bite || Constrict ||
I realized that I should have spent more time trying out my body before I sauntered into danger but it was too late.
Oh well, I guess we will see if I have any talent.
I allowed my instinct to control the sword and slashed at the snake. I focused on the area right below its head.
The blade followed true and easily sliced through the flesh of the snake, cutting off its head.
At the moment of death, a voice rang in my head.
Critical Hit! 10 damage!
You have slain Green Boa!
Gained 2 experience.

I could see a small window pop up that displayed two abilities on cooldown, Strong Slash, and Backstab. There was a timer ticking down the seconds until ready again.
I found it curious that I understood cooldowns, despite having no memory. It seemed that knowledge related to the game was still available.
I mentally prompted the game for more information on my class.
Ding!
Mage classes use magic power or mana to cast arcane and elemental spells, the ninja cannot cast spells in this manner.
The Ninja is half warrior/assassin, and half combat mage/ sorcerer.
Ninjas use combat skills like warriors, that run on cooldowns.
Ninja's use Maki[Soul Power]to manipulate mana[See Ninja Trainer-(Village)]
Normally this class is gained later on in the game after multiple class changes. Whatever series of choices I made led to the class I received. Pure instinct should in theory give you a class most suited to you.
Why did I get Ninja? I don't even like Ninja's, I think? Well, maybe a little,
I remembered a thing called looting. This is where you touch the body of your defeated foe and the computer decides what you get from it. Although it makes valid sense for a monster with a sword to drop said sword it doesn't work like that. The game calculates percentages and based upon luck you get what you get. The body will disappear when there is nothing left to loot.
The items are automatically placed into the inventory.
I touched the body of the snake.
Ding!
You have received 2 copper.
The body of the snake glowed blue then disappeared.
I found it strange that I was the only one here. According to my memory, most beginning zones are crawling with people.
I determined that I might as well head toward the village. There should be a trainer inside that can teach me about Maki.
I shrugged and stood straight and tall, gazing at the village in the distance. I may not have wanted to be a ninja, but it's what I have. Might as well accept it and play with the hand I have been dealt.
I grinned at the thought of the challenge. I will persevere with all of my might!
