Breathing in the air of New Columbia, he stepped into the office and saluted the man in front of himself. Rear Admiral Rayburn Redshaw, Chief of Naval Research. To say the very least, Oswald Falvax was quite intimidated by him, to go along with his confusion.
Redshaw returned the salute and began to speak. "Please Commander Falvax, take a seat, and please, no questions yet. Consider this your briefing"
Oswald Falvax took his seat and looked around the lavish room. The Desk seemed to have a gold lining on it's edges, made of an expensive wood that was foreign to earth, and only found and capable of growth on the small semi habitable moon of Arcturus. It was a strong blue purple color, and was considered one of the most well looking and colorful wood's money can buy.
"Commander. After deliberation you have been selected to command the Carlos Hathcock. Our new Omni-Range Energy Support Ship. Equipped with a newly designed cannon piece as it's main armament. Report to Pearl Spaceyard for your assignment, dismissed"
Commander Oswald got up and salutes to the Rear Admiral and turns around, opening the door and closing it behind him. He's... how do you say this. Perplexed at the fact that he had to come in to New Columbia just for that, while he was currently taking shore leave that was ending soon. Besides that, Oswald follows orders, and he will be going to Pearl Spaceyard. Though the cannon was interesting, experiments had happened in the past with cannon energy weapons, but they had come up in failure. While it gave birth to the energy laser turret's, it's much smaller and weaker then what had originally been planned. He makes his way to the door leading out of the Building as he is greeted by the Blue Sun.
Unlike the Earthen Yellow Sun of Sol, New Columbia had a shining Blue Star. New Columbia was the beautiful capital planet of the United States of America, Atleast that's the official name. Their Earthen homeland had been a hundred years ago, taken by Canadian Forces. Modern Canada was a radical regime that was at the foremost of America's enemies.
Canada wasn't the only threat we faced. The French and India had sided with the Canadians to form a economic union. Luckily, that's just what it was, an economic union. Ethiopia 5 years ago had been an informal enemy, attacking each others outposts and patrols. While two or three planets were involved, the Ethiopian Skirmishes eventually ended in a peaceful pact of agreement. Born from this was an ally, who is now one of the few nations who have a fairly good two way relationship, economy and civilians allowed to travel in-between both.
France on the other hand had decided to invade Ethiopian Space a year ago, and had captured the long time colony of Ras Dashen, a highlandic world full of mountains and raised flatlands. Whilst this planet may not be conventional for animal production, it's less industrialized land has grown to house 3.2 Billion Cattle, noticeably also producing the most dairy for Ethiopia too. The Attack was to help solve the hunger problems present in the French Colonies, as they had a less lucky straw. While they found a planet for their own agriculture, Ras Dashen was still a target. American and Ethiopian Units responded with routing the French at Ras Dashen and promptly bombarding the nearest planet, Aquitaine into rubble. Needless to say, the food shortages were mostly solved. This is the result of the Ethiopian-American Alliance.
The Indian Conflicts is a series of wars that have happened in the past 60 year's, American Forces invade some of the Indian Planets, and the Indian's invade some of America's. Eventually these wars end in stalemates or a planet or two is a captured. New Nagaland was one of the earliest victories of a American captured planet. While at first treated harshly, the English speaking communities, which were many began to assimilate into a full fledged American Planet. About 20 years ago it became an Official American State, the first and only foreign captured planet to date becoming a State Planet.
Now, There's a shuttle to Pearl Spaceyard to catch.
