Chereads / The God of Destruction Is a Dad?! / Chapter 8 - The Ideal Dad?

Chapter 8 - The Ideal Dad?

That same day, George Ayala's car had fallen into a lake.

He had been apparently driving under the influence when the incident happened.

George didn't manage to survive through the ordeal, and the police ruled out foul play.

They deemed his death as a result of an unfortunate accident.

Henry had an appointment with Christine in a nearby coffee shop.

The appointment was necessary since Christine had to apparently update Henry in regards to the property that he wanted to acquire.

"There should be no problems, I presume? Why the need to call for me?" Henry was dressed as smartly as ever.

He didn't look similar to arrogant young masters to which Christine found unusual, since most people in this city flaunted their wealth at every corner.

But the people that lived in this city couldn't really be blamed for their behavior.

This was Henry's thoughts.

After all, the founder of this made it so that the culture of the city itself was based on showing off.

In fact, there was even a popular adage that said—Those that are too scared to flaunt their wealth, are worse than salted fish.

And since being a salted fish was basically an insult.

This explained the abundance of arrogant people in the city.

Christine stared awkwardly at Henry.

She could still remember the scene that had happened yesterday.

To be honest, part of the reason why she called Henry to this coffee shop was that she wanted to express her gratitude to him for what happened the other day. Realizing this, Christine had just realized that she had used her power as a real estate agent for her own advantage.

She couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

"T-There are... There are no problems whatsoever. I just..." Christine stammered through her words.

But when she remembered the look of that young lass when she mentioned that Henry would be visiting today, Christine knew that she had to do something to satisfy her daughter's earnest request.

Shy Shy had always been a self-sufficient lass.

It has been years since Christine heard any word of complaint or request from her daughter's mouth.

This was why Christine had to satisfy her daughter's request at all cost.

Today, she must bring this man to her home no matter what!

"What is it?" Henry stared in amusement at Christine.

The smile on his face remained as cool as ever, while his bassy tone of voice didn't even fluctuate at all.

But in contrast, Henry was screaming in his heart.

His wife was just too beautiful to look at.

Especially, when she was hesitating to do say something out of embarrassment.

So did Henry have an idea as to why Christine summoned him here for?

Yes, of course!

The God of Destruction Squad was omnipresent.

With their members serving as his eyes and ears, no information could escape from his eyes.

So why was he not saying anything?

Because he found it fun.

"Ahem..." Christine cleared her throat. A firm gaze appeared within her eyes.

After apparently having made her decision, she raised her head and asked, "Mr. Henry. Can you come over to my house? I still haven't expressed my gratitude to you after what you have done..."

"Apparently, Shy—no, my daughter told me that you also saved her from bad people. I looked at the CCTV of the apartment and we discovered that those people are human traffickers."

"Oh, really?" Henry raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, that is why... I want you to come over, and also..."

Christine darted her gaze all over the coffee shop, "Shy Shy seems to have grown fond of you. She wants to see you."

"I see..." Henry nodded his head.

His lackluster reply and the lack of changes on his face made Christine bite her lips.

She really wanted to fulfill the wish of her daughter, but she couldn't just force something to happen from someone who didn't want it to occur.

But little did she know that Henry's heart was already in turmoil.

The only reason why he had managed to keep his sanity was the fact that he was in a public face, and also in front of his wife.

'I see, so Shy Shy wants to see me. I guess I can go over. But I need to bring something with me! Shy Shy likes pastries, so I can probably bring homemade sweets with me...'

Henry silently made his decision.

Raising his head, he stared at Christine before replying, "Can we do it tomorrow?"

Christine was overjoyed. "Y-Y-Yes! Tomorrow is fine but Shy—no, my daughter has school and she'll probably be going to be only available after 4 PM... What do we do?"

Henry waved his hand, "It's fine."

He looked as composed and calm as ever, but he was already rejoicing in his heart.

The later the meeting would happen, the more time he had in his hands to practice the art of homemade sweets.

"After 4 PM is not a problem. I'll see you tomorrow, then." Henry casually stated as he stood up and lightly nodded to Christine.

Christine was also quick to return his gesture as the two of them parted ways.

But before that, a small event happened in the coffee shop.

Christine wanted to pay for the drinks that they had consumed, a heartbroken look was on her face for she knew that if she were to pay for the drinks that they had consumed. It would slightly damage her budget for the day.

Fortunately, the moment Christine handed over the card.

Henry had actually already paid for everything the moment they walked inside the coffee shop.

"I'm sorry about that... I'm the one that invited you, but you ended up paying for everything." Christine awkwardly scratched her head.

"That's not a problem. Besides, you should be able to repay this favor, one way or another, right?" Henry mysteriously said.

"Eh?" Christine was dumbfounded by what she had heard.

Her mind had already been tainted by the late-night dramas that she had been watching lately, so her brain immediately overreacted causing her to look at horror in Henry's direction.

Henry was speechless.

"I didn't mean it that way, Miss Ayala. I'm saying that since we're probably going to go to your house. I guess you can let me have a taste of your cooking?" Henry casually replied.

"Oh..." Christine finally realized, "Yes, I can cook dinner for us."

"All right, then that should be enough." Henry lightly chuckled.

A car stopped in front of him and both Henry and Christine parted ways once more as Henry hopped into the car.

The smile on Henry's face hadn't diminished at all despite the fact that he couldn't see Christine anymore.

"You seem to be in a good mood, sir. Did something happen?" Patrick saw the scene in the rearview mirror and he couldn't help but ask.

"Yeah, something noteworthy happened. Anyway, are you available tonight?" Henry asked.

Patrick was astonished when he first heard the question, but when he realized that his hearing hadn't gone bad.

His expression immediately turned into joy.

The God of Destruction was a mysterious man that had turned countless men into powerhouses on their own right.

If Patrick was to undergo training under Henry's supervision, then promotion would then be a walk in the park for him.

In short, he was...

"Free! Yes, I'm available tonight. I am at your service, sir!"

"I see." Henry faintly nodded, "That's the spirit."

With a decision in mind, Henry brought Patrick to one of his properties in the city.

Inside the kitchen of that property were a number of products that one needed for baking.

Henry was quick to wear his apron around his waist.

"What are you doing standing there?" Henry stared at Patrick with a frown.

"Uh... I thought we were going to go out and train?" Patrick was confused.

"We sure are going to train." Henry smiled, "Train on how to make the best bread and pastries."

"Since that guy whom I ordered to invite here still hasn't arrived, there is no other choice but for you to teach me the basics of baking. My daughter likes pastries and as her father. I cannot be a layman with it! I must be able to create whatever baked pastries she wanted, whenever she wanted it!"

"Yes, that is how a father should be!" Henry firmly nodded.

"..."

Patrick didn't know what to say.

'I sure do hope that sir's daughter does not grow up spoiled with how he seems to be planning on doting on her...'
