Chapter 3 - Knowledge

The city of Rose is a second rate kingdom to the southeast of the Ruminus continent. It obtained its name due to the exquisite and beautiful architecture that was built 400 years ago.

It's magnificent structures glimmer in the suns rays and this beauty brought diversity to this kingdom. Species of all kinds flock to this city for the scenery and leisurely life. This is only because the city of Rose is the least powerful of all the major countries on the continent of Ruminus.

Third rate kingdoms dare not to fight it as they don't have the power to overthrow the Royal family, yet the major powers are too afraid for the huge loss of life if they initiate a war. Even if they started a war, it wouldn't be enough to just overthrow the Royal family.

For what is beautiful on the outside, may not be beautiful on the inside. The darkness of corruption runs deep in the city of Rose.

When Amoux and Damon stopped at a small bungalow which stood out among all the different houses nearby, it made people sto in their tracks to take a glimpse of the person who owned the place. Damon, who couldn't read or write, stood behind Amoux while looking at the sign above him in astonishment, 'Spirit Arc'.

The door creaked open as the two entered. Amoux took Damon to the back of the house, "that's your room and the washrooms next to it. Put your stuff down and follow now."

Just as Damon entered his room, Amoux suddenly raised her arms into the air as she inhaled deeply with a smirk on her face before jumping to reach the ceiling. Gray felt baffled as to what Amoux was doing. Feeling like it wouldn't understand, he waited to Damon to return while he watched this joyous beast in amusement.

Seeing Damon return, Amoux quickly changed her expression as she walked towards the front desk. The inside had a simplistic look giving it a fresh sense of being in the open with almost everything made of spirit wood.

The moment the reach the counter, the door abruptly opens with a bang as a young man enters the store with heavy footsteps. His face showing a relieved expression as he pants like a dog with sweat running down his face. He has dirty blonde hair, a sharp nose, thin lips and brown eyes whilst wearing a light green robe with white streaks on the shoulders. He looked to be in his late thirties.

Damon looks at this man that just charged into the store as he walks over to Amoux, slamming his palm onto the counter. "I want your best spirit wood and make it quick! Also, I want you best mana crystals!" Seeing both of them staring at his in silence, the man grew impatient, "What are you waiting for?! Are both of you deaf?!"

After looking at this man from head to toe and back up again, Amoux felt this man wouldn't be good for business. Although Amoux rarely came here, she would always sell the best spirit wood as there were no other place selling it due to the rule between the kingdom and the forest. This caused people such as adventurers to flock to her shop for good material as spirit wood is not only good for creating weapons and refining but also for the channeling and storing of mana.

Amoux frowned at the sight of this man, "Sorry, but I won't sell to you." Amoux was against selling to people such as these who were haughty, arrogant and disrespectful beyond words. "Now! If there's nothing else, please leave..." Her gaze slowly landed on Damon. "I have important business to attend to."

The man glared at Amoux as he grit his teeth and said, "You'll regret not selling to me! I will get what I want!"

They watched as the man forcefully pushed the door open while his teeth grinded against each other. Damon moved to the broken hinge of the door but turned to look at Amoux asking, "What's that about? Why's he so mad?"

Amoux lightly sighed, "Ahh... He's a rank 2 mage. He probably pissed someone off and now he has to run errands for that person... Youngsters these days are so impulsive."

The words, 'rank 2 mage' caught the attention of Damon trying to figure out what this meant. Seeing the expression on Damons face, Amoux knew what he was thinking about and laughed while explaining." Hahaha! Damon, my boy, a rank 2 mage is weak! Unbelievably weak compared to me but to you, he could kill you 10 times over." Her casual tone at saying those words made Damon widen his eyes and his body slightly shook. "You'll find many rank 2 adventurers here. It won't only be mages but others as well... Will I'm training you, we'll find what your specialization is. Then we'll take it from there."

'I'll have my own specialization?!' Damon grew excited. Screaming inside as he abruptly stood with, eyes full of wonder and a bright smile that would make even the sun jealous. Raising his hand in the air he spoke with determination, "Please teach me!!" Amoux became taken aback before she felt warm inside, touching her ample chest.

Witnessing the change in Amoux' expression, Damon wondered if this magical beast misunderstood him as he lowered his hand and said coldly, "I'm not calling you master though..."

Cold! Amoux' face paled as if she got frozen over and tossed into an icy lake, never to be seen again.

Quickly regaining her regal posture, Amoux spoke, "Humph! We will see how you change that attitude and call me Master. As your punishment, you will have to clean the house, leave mine as is and no food for you tonight. Also, never enter my room without permission."

Just as she said that, the creaking of a door at the end of the corridor sounded and Gray exited with a glass bottle in his mouth. His fur seemingly looking shinier and there are two bumps at his temples.

Amoux' eyes widened with her mouth agape before she suddenly burst out with anger, "What have you done!?"
