Chapter 8 - cHaPtEr SeVeN

"What the fuck do you think you are doing?!! Donald cried going for my hand.

"Dude let me go I can save her, "I muttered in a cool collected voice giving him a direct stare to show him I wasn't messing around.

"Dude let her if she can save her, she is dying" Amara chipped in an agitated tone while pointing towards our friend who was still choking on the floor.

Once Donald released my hand, I tuned out everyone and concentrated on what I am doing.

I poured alcohol on the small penknife I was handed to sterilize it, then I did the same for my friend. I hyperextended her neck, palpating for her adam's apple, I moved one-inch feeling for another bulge the cricoid cartilage made a horizontal slit about a half-inch deep and heard some of the people gathered around wince with a disgustful sound at the site of the skin parting under the knife.

You are probably wondering how an art major can perform a procedure only seasonal doctors can do, well I will probably answer you but you won't believe me so you gonna have to wait with my friends whom I am sure are bursting with questions till I am done saving my friend.

I pinched the hole I made to widen it, before using the ball of the pen I had broken into half to insert the wider part into the hole and immediately my friend was able to breathe through the whole which I aided her by blowing air through it and I noticed the blue color disappearing.

A loud round of applause thundered in the bar as the people clapped.

"We can take it from here, " a masculine voice said behind me I turned to see that the paramedics have arrived. Someone must have called them.

The man that spoke to me gave me a weird look when they saw the ball pen sticking out my friend's neck and my hand a little bloodied.

"Are you a medical doctor?" he asked me while they loaded up my friend.

When I shook my head no, his brow went up in disbelief but he let it go concentrating more on taking my friend to the hospital.

The crowd began to disperse not before some of them came and congratulated me for my bravery.

When they left with her I collapsed on a nearby chair feeling weak-kneed.

Now that the whole thing was over it felt as if the whole bravado I had before doing this drained away like water in the bathroom through a drain leaving me weak and shaking as I began to take in what I have done.

Fuck I just saved a life I thought in amazement.

"How the fuck were you able to do that?" Donald yelled in a harsh tone jumping down my throat....

"Not now Donald we have to follow them to the hospital, "Amara leaped in reigning in my boyfriend who looked as if he was going to ignore her and demand answers from me, but instead he turned on his heel and stalked out.

"Thank you, "I whispered to my best friend.

"Don't thank me, you still have some explaining to do, but first we have to be sure that Claire is alright, " Amara said to me before following my boyfriend.

I can't wait I thought sarcastically following them out..

Jericho was inside her ash-colored SUV driving towards a destination she hasn't been to since the past three months. Drowning in her grieve Jericho had not been able to stomach going to visit her wife's grave but this evening the urge to speak to her wife gripped her.

Jericho had spent her day going from one adopting agency to another searching for a suitable place to adopt a child.

It wasn't an easy feat to achieve.

A frown marred her forehead as Jericho recalled the ordeal she went through trying to find an agency willing to let her adopt a child.

Some of the agency shut their doors on her simply because they found out she was going to be a single parent, others turned up their faces in disgust when they found out that she was a lesbian, but luckily Jericho was able to find one willing to look at what was important and when they verified that she was capable of caring and providing for the child gave her some forms to fill out and so in the next six months she will be a mother to a beautiful baby boy.

Since coming out of the agency office Jericho has been overwhelmed with joy and the only thought ringing in her mind was she needed to share this with Christy and that prompted her driving destination this late in the evening.

Driving into the cemetery ground where Christy was buried, Jericho highlighted from her car, bending towards the passenger she took out the bouquet of lilies flower she brought her wife.

They were Christy's best flower.

Walking through the silent moon covered night with only the birds sounds for company, Jericho navigated through the various burial stones filling up the burial ground, taking so many corners before she arrived at the stone bearing her wife's name.

Jericho squatted to her heels in front of the stone. She put forth her right hand, tracing the carved name tenderly with long slender fingers, while she stared at the stone with love.

"I am sorry baby that I have not been able to visit, you but I am here now and I came bearing good news, "Jericho whispered softly to her wife willing herself not to cry as her eyes welled up with tears.

"I have decided to adopt a kid. Happy right. Yeah, that has been one of the things you have desired so long and since you are not here to fulfill that desire for yourself, I decided to do it for both of us. And I must tell you baby after a long search I was lucky to find a beautiful baby boy with blonde hair and green eyes just like you. If not that I know you very well I would think you are the mother." laughs softly at her words, for once her happiness reaching the pale blue eyes.

"I am sorry baby that I can't stay long today as it is getting late but I promise not to be a stranger, "Jericho said before kissing her fingers and placing them on the stone.

I didn't expect I will find you here, but I thought to try my luck, " a voice stated in a teasing tone behind Jericho, scaring the shit out of her that her heart skips fifty feet of her chest.

"What the fuck Cat, " she cried in a mild panic irritated voice, seeing her friend behind her, glaring at her as her heart tried to return to its usual position.

Catherine smiled slightly at the frightened look on her friend's face.

I am sorry I didn't mean to startle you. I went by your house to look for you but everywhere was shrouded in darkness, at first I thought oh please let her not be passed in a drunk stupor somewhere, but something told me to check you here first, Cat said in the same teasing tone.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence, "Jericho muttered sarcastically rolling her eyes.

"Why are you looking for me?" Jericho asked strengthening to her feet as she headed out off the cemetery.

"Must I have a reason to come see my best friend, " Catherine countered back to her friend while falling in step with her.

Jericho pause to stare at her friend her brow arched upward.

Catherine chuckled lightly at Jericho's look of disbelief.

"Ok, there might have been a reason, " she said relenting, and couldn't help the answering grin that curved her mouth when her friend flashed her I am right smile.

"So what was it that you wanted to see me for that couldn't wait till tomorrow or that you couldn't call? " Jericho asked her friend as they both headed towards their car.

"I was curious about how your search for a baby went today."

"Cat this is not a lost but found search and couldn't you have called?" Jericho asked in a light teasing voice.

"Well I did call but you weren't picking so I thought the worse and decided to come to find you in case you needed my help, and moreover I was really dying of curiosity that I was driving Dani insane with my pacing," Catherine said to her friend as they reached their vehicle which was parked close to each other.

"In that case, follow me home and I will tell you all about it, we wouldn't want the cat dying of curiosity, "Jericho added in a light tone with a flash of teasing grin to her friend before opening her car.

She entered and drove off with her friend following behind.
