It was late at night. The full moon shone brightly, all was peaceful. I decided to come out and look at the sky for a bit. Then Lu came over and said, "Earlier was stressful, huh?" I sighed and said, "Your argument didn't mean anything. Lu, I know you care, but we're stuck out here, and that's that."
She said, "I know. I'm just scared. It's getting too dangerous out here." We sat next to each other, cleaning out paws, and then Quinn and the kits rushed over, and Bandit shouted, "Fire! The forest is on fire! We have to move from here!" Everyone instantly woke up, and we started moving away from our safe spot. I looked around, but Yuna was nowhere in sight. I screeched, "Where's Yuna!?"
Jay rushed over, and Bell said, "She was right behind us!" Echo shouted, "Oh no! She must've gotten stuck in the twisted tree!" In an instant, I ran back into the forest. Jay didn't go after me, nor did anyone else. I kept running until I got to the twisted tree. Smoke filled the area, and the fire was dangerously close. I looked in the tree, and I saw Yuna curled up, and sobbing.
I shouted her name and reached out to her. She perked her head up and instantly reached out her paw. The tree was creaking, so I grabbed her, and pulled her out. I rushed away, and soon after I left, the tree collapsed. Before I could escape, I was surrounded by fire, and the only exit was blocked by a fallen tree. I kept Yuna close, and she murmured, "I don't want to die..."
I started coughing from the smoke, so I kept Yuna down at ground level. Then I heard yowling. It sounded like Smoke, so I weakly, and desperately yowled, until I collapsed. My vision was getting weaker, and Yuna started crying again. Then Smoke appeared and dragged both of us out of the flames through an exit created by him.
Smoke dragged us to a lake where the fire couldn't reach us, and I heard the others as well. I was barely conscious, and Yuna was resting. I heard Jay whisper, "Oh my god... t-this is my fault..." Soon, I too fell asleep.
---------------------------
"Smoke! I can't believe you just ran off! At least you saved them." Smoke was looking down at Birch and Yuna. His eyes were filled with envy, but he wasn't a person that would hate anyone. Echo and Bell came up to him and Echo said, "Thank you for saving them..." Smoke smiled and said, "It wasn't a big deal."
Then Jay said, "I smell Ace's hands all over this scheme." Then Yuna woke up. She clumsily sat up, and Bell asked, "Yuna? Are you okay?" She nodded and said, "If it weren't for mom, I would be dead. The twisted tree fell, and if I was still in there, I would be trapped forever. A-and he kept me down so I wouldn't breathe in the smoke."
She then looked at Smoke and bowed her thanks. She then said, "And thank you for saving the both of us." Then Smoke said, "Again, it's no big deal." Her legs were shaking, and her breathing sounded a bit raspy. Suddenly, she threw up black vomit. Lu instantly rushed to her and dragged her behind a tree.
Jay followed, and Quinn moved Birch away from the vomit. I asked, "W-What was that...?" Quinn said, "I dunno. We'll have to ask Lu when she's done with her." I flattened my ears and sniffed the vomit from afar. It smelled like blood and ash.
---------------------------
It was early in the morning when I woke up. It was very silent. I was still in the forest, but it seemed like no one was around. I stood up and looked around. There was a stain that smelled of bile and blood on the ground, and there was even more blood behind a tree. I looked for anyone, but they weren't around at all.
"Did they abandon me?" I whispered to myself. No, they couldn't have. Then I heard a twig snap. I ran up the closest tree and waited to see who was out here. Quinn came out of the bushes. I wanted to hop down and greet him, but something didn't smell right, so I stayed up. He walked to the place I came from and instantly ran off.
I wanted to go after him, but as I said, something strange was going on. Then Quinn came back out with three other cats and Ace. I wanted to gasp, but I instantly shut my mouth. Ace said, "Jay must've taken him with Yuna then." Then Quinn asked him, "C-can I please g-go now?" Ace said, "You're quite useless, so you may go."
Then Quinn scrambled away from him. Ace said, "What a waste of time. Let's go back to the search of Crow's men." The cats nodded, and they spread out, while Ace went back to his territory. Then I had the need to tell King Crow that Ace is trying to murder not only us but Crow's men as well. I put on a leaf cloak that I found, and I rushed into the Night Cats' territory.
When I got there, I was stopped by a group of Night Cats. They asked me, "Who are you?" I said, "That doesn't matter. I must speak to King Crow." Without hesitation, the cats took me to Crow's territory. King Crow shouted, "Wh- Who is this?" "He wants to speak about something to you." King Crow flattened his ears and said, "Alright. Speak."
I told him what Ace was up to, and he said, "So that's why some cats have gone missing after that fire." Then he asked, "Are you an ally?" I said, "I am not a foe, nor an ally. I'm just an outsider." Then a cat said, "Wait I've heard of them! While I was on patrol, I heard Sun Cats talking about Sun and Night rouges raiding their camps!"
