Chapter 27 - Chapter 26

His eyes glowed faintly, his gaze pierced through her soul. A terrifying presence that only she alone could feel.

The fact that she could feel this terrifying presence proved that she have already unlocked her primal instincts. This have proven that the ancient humans, those who have hunted mammoths and lived alongside the dinosaurs had their instincts tempered and refined in order to escape predators and other threats.

When modernisation came however, those instincts and other survival abilities that humans possessed was now locked inside and have been long forgotten.

The new emergence of the virtual reality helmets however, helped the humans regain their hidden strengths.

The primal instincts that helped humans sense danger and quickly respond to said threats. It also helps humans to respond in lightning quick speed reflexes.

The muscle limiter release, allowing humans to either slowly become stronger by increasing the amount of strength that the body muscles can release, or abruptly double or triple their strength in a short amount of time in order to perform life saving actions.

For 10 years, Yulis have trained and tempered her own body and mind. Those who failed to do so have been long eliminated from the game.

Even without any talent she still managed to climb up towards the lower middle ranks of the human race. Even among her peers her skills are considered mediocre yet with enough bone grinding, she somehow attained her position as a guild leader of a third rate guild.

And right now, even if her body and mind isn't in its prime condition her body managed to perceive something no ordinary modern human could. Virtor, still released a threatening aura that made her freeze like a deer in a forest caught in ray of light.

"Is something the matter?" The earl seemed to notice the momentary pause.

"hm? ah, no i was just lost in thoughts, but if you would excuse me, i just remembered that i have some matters to attend to."

"I see, i enjoyed our little chat, good day now."

"good day to you aswell."

Yulis exited the banquet hall before entering a private room prepared just for her. She sat down in the bed before accessing her player menu and checking her friend requests and sure enough she wasn't hallucinating.

There it was, the name that caused the world to shake in her previous life, Virtor Prasia. She hovered her index finger by the accept button for a moment. Slowly taking a deep breath before tapping it.

Ping! almost immediately after accepting his friend request, she quickly received a message from the dreaded legend.

Virtor Prasia: Black Lotus!

Virtor Prasia: I can't believe i just met the famous Black Lotus!

Virtor Prasia: How did you become a Verdesian Imperial Princess?!

Virtor Prasia: What kind of quest did you take?

Yulis was simply speechless, his presence alone was enough to make her tremble and yet he acted like a normal teenager.

Is this his innate talent!? Yulis made a sudden realization. There's no other explanation other than that. Surely all legendary players are not normal! all of them are talented monsters one way or another. They all possess some kind of unique properties that allowed them to break free of mortal shackles!

If Yulis was correct then, the younger Virtor is unlike his older self. He still haven't grown yet, meaning she could potentially affect his growth negatively or positively.

Yulis made another realisation that made her shiver. She had the power to destroy this legendary player while it's still a seed, or maybe help him bloom early on, another possibility would be to become his potential ally, better yet maybe even befriend him.

Yulis wanted to do the last option yet she feels as if it may affect him negatively. She really didn't want to greatly affect the history that much, other than touching a few small details here and there like stealing the kill of the undead knight or opening chests from the wilderness.

Yet potentially changing the world's history doesn't sit well with her, the player that she's interacting with will have the power to affect the world in the future and in the event that something changed said player, it may change the history of the world into something that deviates from her original history.

This in turn might cause some unpredictable events that may affect both her and her sister negatively.

Black Lotus: Nothing much, just stumbled upon some crazy chain quest. Although it seems to be ending soon.

Black Lotus: I hope that you wouldn't disturb me any further as it may cause damage on my quest.

Yulis responded like a robot which caused a moment of awkwardness for the two.

Virtor Prasia: oh, im sorry if i bothered you.

Black Lotus: don't worry about it, i see that you are on your own quest, goodluck.

Virtor Prasia: goodluck to you too.

Their conversation didn't last long and soon they bid their farewells, though it would seem that Virtor intends to keep contact.

For the rest of the day, Yulis continued her play, only this time she was enjoying a bowl of her her favourite frozen treat.

When night came, Yulis received another message, instructing her to return immediately to the palace.

"Did something came up i wonder." Yulis apparently have to return at the break of dawn. Even going as far as taking a short cut through the mountains.

She simply shrugged and began training her tailor subclass which by the way she managed to upgrade to journeyman. The capital city of Arkadis had plenty of materials from all over the continent and some secret npc which helped her advance and even allowed for her to grab some blueprints for some cute looking dress.

The servants which she sent to collect these materials were puzzled, but after mentioning her cute little sister, the servants who found the tasks meaningless quickly moved into action.

All of a sudden they transformed from imperial servants to professional marketing hunters who scoured the entire city for said blueprints.

They were even willing to drag back several npcs who had the necessary quests that helped her advance in tailoring. Of course, with her title as an imperial princess, no one dared to disobey her wishes.

Although she had to fork over several bags of hard earned gold coins, she believed that all of it was worth it in the end.

Before leaving the city, Yulis have completed her shopping list and task list. She have collected an inventory full of unique materials, suited for crafting cloth and leather armors and other equipment aswell as class advancement items.

She have not only advanced to journeyman in tailoring but have also made it through halfway of her next promotion to senior tailor.

She have also successfully changed classes into a magician which gave her the title, First to Cast, a title given to whoever became the first mage.

Now that she's a mage, her equipment now had to change, sure she could still wear iron armors but with heavy penalties like speed reduction, reduced defence and many more.

She then learned the magic books that she bought earlier and spent her unused points in order to strengthen herself further.

Her main weapon is now a staff, with her tanto as a backup weapon.

The caravan was moving at full speed, Yulis noticed it and finally could no longer contain her curiosity and asked one of the butler who served under the princess.

"I believe, someone is after us." His response was blunt and without any hesitation. "The Princess probably received an information, causing her to quickly pull us back into our territory."

"Is it an outside forces?" Yulis probed.

"More likely, there is also the possibility that they are being pushed into action by one of the princess's oppositions from within." The butler explained.

"So someone may be chasing us so we're forced to run back home huh. " Yulis couldn't really do anything to improve their situation.

They finally reached one of their greatest obstacles, a road by the side of the mountain facing a cliff.

The road isn't really that wide and it was only wide enough to let two small carriages to pass one another without touching. The problem is that their carriages aren't small, far from it, it was extremely large and luxurious.

One carriage occupied 80% of the road, the army who followed from behind had to go first and create a scouting line. An entire line of soldiers made a makeshift surveillance system throughout the entire length of the road.

They all stood roughly 10 meters apart of each other and made sure that no carriages or any foreign people were walking in the road.

It also served as a way to prevent any ambushes as the soldiers were ordered to scour the entire road and the nearby forest.

The line of carriages slowly moved forward, Yulis was currently in the middle of those carriages. It was all going well until a large explosion from the very front and back of the line halted the move of the carriages.

The soldiers from both end slowly gathered and created a human barrier, halting any possible enemy attacks from each entrance of the road.

The knights deployed their formation once again but since the carriages are stuck in a line, no semblance of defence could be seen.

The knights were forced to scatter their forces around the carriages, several groups of knights gathered around different carriages in order to create temporary decoys for the attackers while the magic knight somehow disappeared, waiting for the assassins to arrive.

The paladin and the great mage was hidden well nearby as a form of a trump card, the chief Knight himself was releasing a form of aura that attracts attention.

Everything was eerily quiet, apart from the distant breeze of the wind and the singing of the birds, no foreign sounds interrupted the sound of nature around them.

Checking their damages, other than the two disabled carriages, no further damages from the explosion have befallen the caravan.

Moments later, a faint rumbling sound could be heard from below, followed by a weak vibration from the ground, the sound slowly got louder while the vibration turned into shaking.

The Chief knight came to a realisation but before the other knights realised what was happening, the road that was carved on the side of the mountain suddenly collapsed! A landslide somehow pulled the road, along with the carriage in which Yulis was in.

The magic knight, stationed just behind her carriage tried to fly and rescue the princess when a bright barrier suddenly separated the flying knight with the falling carriage.

Overall, three carriages fell off the road. Yulis's carriage was the first to fall, followed by the two that was present both in front and behind her.

The carriage rolled by the mountain walls, Yulis only had a moment to think of a way to survive but gave up when she saw the barrier separate her and the rest of the group.

The servants who accompanied her were still conscious and are helplessly getting smacked around every time the carriage rolls or hit something.

A magical enhancement that was present in every carriage activated in order to prevent the carriage from taking further damage from the fall. The carriage glowed, and the cracks that were forming on the wall stopped.

Unfortunately the enhancement was primarily designed to withstand magical and physical attacks. Although the defences of the carriage managed to stall the eventual destruction of the carriage, it didn't take long for the enhancements to wear off.

The horses that were pulling the carriage were also pulled down and was crushed repeatedly by the carriage that they used to pull, the ropes attached to the carriage, got tangled around their bodies preventing them from escaping their terrible fate.

Their pained cries only stopping when their helpless bodies got ripped to shreds by the sharp and jagged rocks that poked at the sides of the cliff.

The horses were the first to die, as for the fate of the passengers inside the carriages were unchanged. The defensive enhancements only managed to prolong their sufferings, once the enhancements disappeared, the damage of the carriage will continue.

A large and sharp rock finally cracked the carriage that Yulis was riding in half. The servants were thrown out of the carriage and their body smashed at the side of the cliff.

Yulis was launched high in the sky, while she was slowly falling, she saw the servants that used to serve her tea cling on to dear life at several exposed tree roots, trees or the rocks that once caused the carriage to split in half.

It took only a few moments before she started to fall at a much faster rate, she could obviously try her luck and grab at one of the exposed tree branches while falling down but at the last moment, decided to ignore them and continue her fast travel towards the Ark City's Cathedral.

Her body landed with a thud, her hit points lost a huge chunk, and slowly started to lose point bit by bit as she began rolling down.

Her last chance to grab at something came when she reached the end of the steep slope, below it lies a several hundred meters fall.

Yulis already made up her mind and simply closed her eyes, a light breeze blessed her bruised and dirty body before a powerful force pulled her down.

It took a while but a loud thud was the last thing that she heard before a screen appeared before her.

[You've been killed]

[As penalty for dying you will lose one level]

[Current level 38, previous level 39]

[You drooped 1 gold coin, 43 silver coins and 76 bronze coins]

[You dropped an equipment, old bronze ring]

[You dropped an item, Rock]

[You dropped an item, Rock]

Yulis felt relieved to see that she haven't dropped anything important, for the last few days she have kept a lot of junk items in her inventory and wore crappy equipments in order to reduce the chance of her dropping an important item or equipment.

Because of the fact that she might die at the hands of assassins, she had to prepare something to prevent her from losing too much when dying.

The cathedral at the city of Ark was huge, it had four tall towers that houses 4 bells each, all sixteen bells would ring on several occasions and when a calamity or similar events occurs. The main building itself is probably the second largest building in the city, and only the castle itself where the king resides have beaten the cathedral when it came to size.

The cathedral however boasts the most beautiful exterior in the entire city, not only that, it is also surrounded by a beautiful garden, decorated by statues of heroes and saints.

The cathedral also had a separate building for the immortals to respawn in, Yulis who spawned at the the brightly lit room received a notification from the game system.

[Notice]

You have lost all form of connection to the Imperial Princess, all related quests from the Imperial Princess is lost and all accumulated relationship points are reset to zero.

Yulis winced but quickly recovered, before she could move, she quickly changed equipment and wore a new mask that she made.

Right now, her appearance is still that of the Imperial Princess, her hair is still blonde and eyes are still blue. She stowed the dress and jewelries of the Imperial Princess away in the corner of her inventory, she planned to hide them in her personal warehouse in the future.

As for her cosmetic looks, she decided to keep it and use it as a form of disguise in the future. Discreetly walked out of the building, once she got out she quickly used a scroll of teleportation to leave the church in order to avoid the eyes of the npc guards and teleport back to the city square.

She intended to throw away her junk items that she once filled the half of her inventory and decided to fill her inventory with rare and unique materials and more before leaving the city.
