Charles was the best, the finest, the one I treasured the most, no matter what. He understood the true value of someone else's life, the worth of a smile, a warm hug, and a kind word. He walked so tall even when he felt like he couldn't anymore, there was nobody who ever did it better. Then he was gone, taken.
Those people stole his life to make theirs safe and then stepped on his burned-out bones as if they were some stones, as if they meant to have him as a support.
Once they took his life, he wasn't there anymore, not in the still heart or closed eyes, yet I found him every day, every moment I opened my heart to feel. He was in what he loved; warmth and kindness, as though he haunted me, he always stayed near - at least, that was what I felt.
