The principal's words made the poor boy's heart jolt and stomach clench. He could feel his heart beating more rapidly as he opened the small box.
Contact lens.
"I am sorry?" he questioned, confused.
"Wear this at all times, I will explain as we get there", she pleaded, "hurry up we have to get there before dark".
"Dark! what do you mean, I have to go home".
"Tell your parents, you had a detention".
"Fair enough".
For the first time in Aiden's life, he decided to listen to her, as she beckoned him in a certain direction. Besides, he did not want to go home, no one will miss him anyway.
"Follow closely behind me, do not stray, and finally, do not at any condition make eye contact, understood", the principal stated leaving Aiden confused once again but he nodded his head nonetheless, as they left her tedious office heading towards the emergency exit of the school.
"We are leaving on foot?" the principal only gave a nod of agreement.
The awkwardness in the air was bothering the teenager but he kept his mouth shut, wisely.
There was a slight chill in the air, today. Aiden tightened his jacket around him while rubbing his hands together.
After hours of dragging their feet along the rough, hard pavement, they finally arrived at what seemed like an elegant mansion. This place was nothing like Aiden had seen before.
"Gorgeous", the boy muttered impressed.
"Well, come on in and keep your eyes down", the principal instructed, opening the huge gates.
As soon as Aiden entered the double doors he noticed how pretty the two flights of spiral staircases were yet the high ceiling seemed so cold and menacing.
The principal gestured for him to follow her beginning to get frustrated, as she turned hallways after hallways with Aiden getting distracted at every turn. Finally, they came to a stop against the door.
This time the door did not appear gorgeous or beautiful to Aiden. The anxiety started coiling in his stomach like thousand small knots but he shoved it deep down as he pretended to be tired.
"Ma'am, I am done walking today if you want to flaunt your gorgeous house then let me tell you, you have succeeded", the boy got out in between irregular breaths.
The principal rolled her eyes, deciding not to answer the ignorant boy as she knocked twice on the door.
The door creaked open, creeping Aiden out a little.
"Do not make eye contact", the principal whispered.
"Linda is that you", he heard some shuffling before a faint whisper.
"Let us in", he was shocked at the principal's soft voice but his thoughts were cut off when he heard that quiet voice again.
"Us! Linda, you know I do not like company".
"I found him".
He heard a click of the lock before the door was finally opened all the way.
His brain vaguely registered that he might be in danger with a total stranger and a traumatized school principal but curiosity got the best of Aiden as he found himself walking behind the principal.
Aiden was finally about to ask them to explain what was happening when his gaze traveled to the far right corner of the room while the door closed instantly with a thud.
His eyes widened in fear as he threw up all over the floor.

The seven deadly kings were fair and just rulers as long as anyone could remember.
They were demons but the only ones blessed with souls.
The souls were given to them as a gift. These were the only thing that made them stay sane despite being demons.
The kings ruled a kingdom of seven species alongside their council. The council was made up of seven representatives each belonging to the species residing in the kingdom.
When the kings turned bestial, Lord Solar knew it was only a matter of time before the noble blood was spilled.
Lord Solar, a wise young elf proposed the idea of balancing prophecy while their kings were somewhere shedding innocent blood.
"I know I am a bit late but it is time we take matters into our hands", he started, grabbing the attention of everyone in the council room.
The council room had turned into a hard, cold place after years of solving crimes and sentencing people to death. Nonetheless, it was made comfortable for every council member as well as the kings.
The throne looked lifeless and empty as it waited patiently for the kings.
The Lords and Ladies were huddled up in the conference room, the element of fear evident in their eyes. But despite the fear eating them up inside, everyone was exhausted, they knew they had to do something to save their species from going extinct.
"Matters of what kind, Lord Solar", Lady Elizabeth's hushed voice was heard as she took a sip from her champagne.
Everyone was thankful that the Lady could keep her shrill howls under control with an exception of irregular clicking of her tongue which was not harmful at all.
They happened to have witnessed the newborn's banshees shrills far too much for their likings.
"Is it not obvious, mi' lady, we are going to defeat the kings", Lord Callan, a wolf shifter with anger issues stated.
"Slow down boy, we can not defeat seven powerful and feral kings", the queen of nymphs, Symphony, sat amongst the splotches of seawater as she tried to reason.
Lord Ellen of hybrids and Lady Lucinda of witches nodded in agreement with the oldest individual in the room.
"Surely you are wiser than that Lord Solar", the merman mocked, his tail flipping as he eyed the lord.
"Of course I am, Lord Atlas, wiser", the elf assured.
"We will create a balancing prophecy".
There was pin-drop silence in the room, the involuntary clicking of banshee's tongue also ceased as Lord Callan got up from his chair noisily and left the room grumbling profanities under his breath.
Lord Solar smiled, he had expected this.
"Do not worry about it I can handle him we should probably get to work", the lord once again assured the five sets of eyes staring unblinkingly at him.
I know just what to do. The Lord thought.
